Ignoring the signs

the sign of the crow

I was looking for some software on the Internet yesterday and as I looked up a crow flew across my window. I acknowledged it and continued my search. A few seconds later it flew by again and I gave it a couple of seconds of pondering before continuing on. Some 15 minutes later I had failed to find a legitimate copy of the software but had found a dubious one. I downloaded it and was preparing to install it when the crow flew by and landed on the tree in front of my room. I looked out at it and recall having the thought, “you’re warning me not to install this, aren’t you?” Of course my rational brain kicked this thought into touch and I hit the INSTALL button.

Later that day I started to notice the odd strange thing happening to my computer and it wasn’t long before I realised that it was infected with a virus. Argghhhh!!!!

Question for you guys: Was the crow warning me? or am I just connecting two random dots?

I’ve been thinking on this issue since it was posted, and since I can’t seem to get beyond the following, I guess that will be the extent of my comment.

I think you probably knew that downloading a dubious piece of software was likely to infect you. Whether or not the crow was a sign, if you ignored it and your own best inclinations, does it matter? If anything, I think that the sign was not so much that “the software is bad”, but “listen to the loud voice you hear in your own head!” It’s a problematic question, and I don’t think it’s possible to tease apart what was intended unless you first follow what you think it means.

I do, however, have to disagree with your comment that your little island is the land of the signs, when that title obviously belongs to the land where I live. ;)

      Hi ABtMS,
I can’t argue with you re the geography of “signs” land :)

On the matter of, the voice in my head vs the Crow. In this instance I am wlling to accept either. Though I have to say, I am not averse to installing “bad” software and have never had a twinge so to speak.

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated.

  • The crows/ravens have been more active lately here in the US, at least out by me. So hearing about your experience, it doesn’t surprise me, nor would it if your crow were warning you about the software.

Thanks Kaye, I have recently spent some time in America, Manhattan to be precise. Alas the lack of Crows there was missed. Glad to be back in the land of the signs. Having said that signs come in many forms wouldn’t you say?

  • I listened to a story by Esther Hicks (afte her husband passed), that birds are sent by the energy source (or whoever it is) to give us messages……..so, yessss…..Always when I am thru with a workshop or energy work with the Planet Earth, an eagle, a Conder or a big bird appears, and that is my sign that the job was well done!!!!! Blessings……sabina

Good day Sabina, You have some wonderful totems there. ACondor! I am awed and agree with you, “A job well done” is indeed a message that is often appreciated from the world. Being in a wind and rain swept isle, I am delighted when my “job well done sign” come thruough for me (that of the sun shining through the clouds).

      Thank you for sharing,
