Intuition knocking
In a battle between intuition and reason, the most likely result is that intuition is the loser. Why?
Here is a tale of yesterday, quite literally.
About 7 in the evening, as usual I wondered off to the gym. I parked up, as normal in the busy car-park and sauntered towards the entrance. About half-way from my car to the door I realised that I still had my spectacles on (normally I leave them in the car). My intuition told me that I should go back and leave them there but I ignored it and carried on into the gym.

A few seconds later, I was stood by a locker and before taking my clothes off I placed my specs on top of it. As I did, I distinctly recall my inner voice telling me to put the specs in the locker. I ignored it and continued with changing.
30 minutes later I was in the gym speaking with a friend and as I was, my attention was immediately back with my specs (which I had forgotten on my locker). My intuition told me to go and lock them away, but my reason said, “they would be OK, who is going to steal some specs?”
An hour later, I was back at my locker to find my specs gone! No one had handed them in and they were no where to be found!
Today I was at the optician having a new pair made.
Again and again Gwas and I are “taught” to follow our intuition and yet so ingrained is reason that we still have such tales to tell.

What’s in a name?
OK, chastise me if you will, I have been away from this blog for ages. That is not to say that I haven’t been having adventures. Quite the opposite. Many exciting and revealing times continue to pass my way on a almost daily basis.
I am going to have a monumental go at catching up here! It seems a task that may be beyond me. Instead of going back in time and trying to recall my adventures. I will start from this point in time and work my way back and forward. Good luck to me, I will need it.
Those who are keeping up with our adventures may recall that over the last two years I have gained a few “names”.

Alderley Wizard
The first was “Edge Wizard” and I was given this in a rather unusual way in the forest of Wizards in Alderley Edge Cheshire. I didn’t know what it meant at the time but since then it has become more clear and focused as we shall see.
Ostensibly at the time I thought this was due to my explorations at the edge of normality, which as it happened was true…see below.

Old Yew
About a year or so after this christening I was given the name “Spirit Walker” which I gained as a title at that wonderful old Yew tree in Llangernyw, Wales.
At the time I was given this moniker I was exploring “Death Energies” a truly fascinating exploration of the border between this life and the next. As readers will know it was an uncomfortable and rather scary journey.
Early this year I was given another “nom du guerre” this time it was the odd title of Wand Maker. Again this naming was in that wonderful forest in Alderley Edge.
Enthusiasm in following this “new” path was initially filled with exciting discoveries and possibilities as demonstrated by this website I set up…The Wand Maker blog.
I have been puzzled over the last week about what was going on with all these namings and what they meant for my path. So I had spent some time meditating on this subject and finally the frustration of not getting anywhere had me off to a source of wisdom. Ye oldie yew!
Yesterday, I arrived there in the early hours of the evening and entered the quiet gardens with determination and a list of questions.
Here are some of the answers that were forthcoming…
- If you lack focus and intent, answers are given in accordance with your state.
I was given these names because that was where my thoughts were at the time. Looking back this makes sense, since I was in a period of mourning the passing of my mum when I first became seriously interested in Death Energies.
- The initial name was the best descriptor for me – “Edge Wizard” – the other names are a reflection of this name.
Spirit walker is the exploration of the Edge of this world and the next. As I was given to know at that time but had forgotten. In the experiences I gained at the yew and since. It was/is to gain an understanding of “energy” from a transitional perspective. If we imagine a Venn diagram…

- a point in-between
A is life and B is death or existence on the other side. This trip to the Yew garnered that whist we are in life our exploration can only concern the life aspect ‘A’ and the ‘A+B’ bit.
- What of the “B” or existence after life?
The answers I got for this is that it would be fruitless to explore it, In Castaneda’s terminology the “B” lies firmly in the Unknowable. Exploring only leads to confusion and answers that do not make sense. I guess this falls in line with the so many confusing and conflicting tales about what it is like in the after-life.
- How do the other names fall in line with Edge Wizard?
It seems obvious (as it always does after the fact) Spirit Walker is the ‘A+B’ part of the above and Wand Maker…helloooo! “Wizard”? It seems that dowsing energy has non-temporal properties. Thus the naming is something that we can become.
- Where does this leave me?
Focus, the absolute key for me at this time is to focus. Co-creation has a key component of focus. I had this really funny experience at the Yew this time.

I saw a car driving along a long road, like the American highways. As it was going along bits were falling off here and there. I saw sign posts along the road which said things like “Goals This Way”…

It was a puzzling vision. Obviously it was telling me that I should or was heading towards my goals but why the breaking up of the car. As I watched this “drama” unfold I got a close up of the car. It had a sticker on the side with the word “Intent” written on it.
After receiving this vision. I wandered to the back part of the Yew Garden to “walk the path of understanding”, which effectively is a wonderful walk-way between the graves but has been very useful in walking and dowsing for understanding of visions.
I got the idea that although we can have an intent which propels us towards our goals (the car) if we don’t look after our other energies then our intent becomes useless (or broken). What are these other energies (that were falling off the car)?
Our every day thoughts, our physical wellbeing, our energetic well being, everything we do has energetic consequences. Emotional being, what we eat and drink. All these things to some extent have an effect on our being. So if we don’t “fix” these then our intent suffers.
What an analogy! I wonder how my brain (Yew Tree?) comes up with these? I am curious because I thought I was pretty good with all this “life balance” stuff. So my questioning/dowsing continued and I got that I was. Actually I was way better at it than a lot of people (ego?)
- Was this an ego thing?
Apparently not, being “good” at balancing is like being good at art or science. It has no value basis, as in being “better” than anyone else. Phew!
So I have been pretty good at this balancing stuff, well what were the bits falling of the car? It seems that I am on the fine tuning side of things now. Having got rid of the major issues I have now to deal with the fine tuning.
- The verdict?
Carry on as you are McDuff! Be confident that “you” are on the “right” path for “you”. Can’t say fairer than that!
Bless,
Kal Malik ~ Edge Wizard!
Ireland 1 – Freeing the dragon
After some preamble due to a mis-diagnosis of our O.S mapping we eventually found a stone circle called The Pipers Stones.
Quite auspiciously to our tired feet it was quite close to the main road. I was the first to arrive there and found a lovely stone just under
a tree. The sun was shining and without pause I decided to lie on it and bask in the combined energies of the sun and tree. Almost as soon as I had closed my eyes I felt a “ugh” and looked around to see what had disturbed my senses.
It only took me a second to find a animal skull on a branch of the tree only a yard or two away from where I lay. I immediately got up and went to investigate. Rods in hand I determined that some kind of dark magic had been carried out at the place and had left its “stink” there. I dowsed for a “good” place for me to be and found that it was a stone that was diametrically opposite to the place where the skull was.
As Gwas approached the stone circle I drew his attention to the skull and he determined that he should do something about it. I left him to his task whilst I, again, attempted to bask in the sun.
Again it was mere moments after I had clambered up on the stone to rest when I “felt” a call of some kind. I jumped down and wandered back and forth for several moments trying to get a sense of the “call”. To no avail, so I decided to do some energetic exploration instead. Since I have been exploring the Genius Loci phenomena I hit upon asking some questions about that.
I asked whether the Genius Loci of this place (if there was one) had been summoned ab
road as had Genius Loci’s from sites in the UK. It had and had returned in a similar fashion at roughly the same time. Wow I wasn’t expecting that answer. I lent against my power center and mused on this correlation when I felt a “tug” again and was drawn to do more dowsing to explore what was calling my attention.
After some moments of dowsing it just “popped” into my intuitive head…The Genius Loci was trapped. I queried the dowsing rods and the result was confirmed. Some time in the past the Genius Loci of this place had been trapped by person or persons unknown and they had left it in such a state. I wondered if I could do something about this. The answer was yes. So I set about exploring how I would do this. The answer was to gain energy from the sun and “give” it to the Genius Loci so that it could escape from its trap.
I dowsed to find an appropriate place to stand and it was right by where I had found the location of the Genius Loci earlier. I then set about visualising collecting the energy from the sun into my crown chakra, but I got a “sense” that this was not the appropriate way to do it and changed the process so that I was collecting energy into my aura and then passing it to where I imagined the Genius Loci to be.
After doing this for some moments I could “see” that the Genius Loci was trying to pull itself from the ground – the image I got was that of a Phoenix however later reflection makes me think it was more dragon like than a phoenix. So this “dragon” was trying to pull itself loose of the ground using the energies that I was providing. However it wasn’t succeeding.
I decided to throw my personal energies into the struggle – but was immediately warned off by – hmm – my higher self? That this would result in injury. It was at this time that a fierce wind started to blow around and through the circle on what was otherwise a lovely warm day. I gathered in this winds energies too and supplied them to the Genius Loci (Dragon?) and it finally managed to break free.
Using dowsing I determined that it had flew around the back of me and out of a arcing energy “exit” that I had dowsed earlier.
Feeling pleased with my work I clambered back on top of my power center to re-energise. Again after a few moments a thought occurred to me. Had I done a good thing in helping the Dragon to escape? I jumped down for a third time to query the rods and found that the answer was yes. Phew!

Llangernyw : Warnings and Weirdness
The Llangernyw Yew : April 19th 2010
After our visit to The Druid’s Circle at Penmaenmawr we sidled off into the sunset heading inland cross-country to Llangernyw. I had a few random items on my agenda to work on, whereas I knew that for Kal this was the main reason for his visit. He was at an important juncture in his life and was looking to his old friend the archetypal “Tree” for some guidance. Having made contact with this helpful entity via the ancient yew tree at Llangernyw before, he was confident that he could do so again.
For me, I had been guided recently to carve a symbol into my staff. I knew not why, yet. I’m sure that will become clear soon enough. For now, I wanted to confirm which symbol that should be before I started carving. On previous occasions when I had dowsed for this information it had been indicated that it should be the Dinas Bran sigil. This evening, as the sun was setting, I approached the ancient yew tree with respect and asked if I might dowse for some answers. I got a positive response and so began to do some dowsing.
I dowsed at the edge of the tree’s canopy, on a flat section of ground indicated as a good place by the dowsing rods. I asked which symbol I should carve and began to follow a spiral pattern around from one side to another, in a familiar pattern. Was this like the ‘Bran the Blessed’ sigil? It was like that but the head was upside down! In fact it resembled the Arbor Low sigil too.I asked the rods if this was correct several times and they repeatedly said yes. When I sought an answer to this I got the impression that it was a symbol that was personal to me yet a reflection of both places, even literally a reflection in the sense of being upside down in parts.
You may remember from my recent posts that I had been trying to draw together the four elemental forces of Nature in order to assist me with my coming work this year? There was one that I had not managed to re-engage with and that was the fire element. On this lovely sunny evening as the great fireball dropped slowly over the hills of Penmaenmawr I decided to try to resolve that oversight. I walked to the side of the church where I knew my power centre to be, but oddly I walked straight past it without a second glance, and went to stand before the two pillars of stone that seemed like an entrance or exit portal for something. I began to dowse…
Were these stones and entrance or an exit? An exit. Were they for some form of energy (thinking back to Druid’s Circle) to be directed through? Yes. Was that energy spirit energy? Yes. Was it earth energy? No. Was it the energy of the yew tree? Sort of – the rods came together slightly, but not firmly. Was it the spirit of the place that passed through this portal? Yes. Was this a good place for me to regain my fire energy? A strong yes.
With that affirmation I went to go and sit on the flat tombstone behind the two stones, and immediately got a sharp pain in both kidneys. I took this as an indication that this was not a good place to sit! I stood between the portal stones, looking due west, and drew down the fire of the setting sun, as the saying goes in such circles. The rods confirmed what I felt – that this had been done successfully. Now I felt more ‘complete’ – like I had access to all the powers of Nature (except spirit, or aether, the fifth element).
Whilst I was stood between the two energetic stones I felt like I could use that energy to get another burning question answered. I had one that was uppermost in my mind., The final task of the time between Spring and Beltane was to learn how to connect to the earth’s own energy grid. So far I had not one clue how this could be done, other than perhaps to be stood somewhere that neutral energy may naturally emerge, or something like that. I decide to seek some guidance, any clue at all.
I asked the yew tree to help me to imagine what I should do to link to the neutral earth grid – and I was shown several places very quickly that I couldn’t make out because they were too quick. Then I was shown an image of me nestling into the bosom of the earth – literally two small humps of grass between which I was curled in a foetal position, soothed and sleepy. I was to find a place where I felt that comfortable and then bathed in warmth and comfort I could connect to the earth’s own energy system and draw upon the neutral energy – the pure energy of the earth. I was amazed at the wonderfully intuitive way the information was given to me, and extremely grateful to have been shown this vision. Now, all I had to do was to find such a place….
I thought I was finished for the evening – hey, hadn’t I got everything I came for and more? I certainly had. Kal popped around looking pleased with himself and his exploits, which I intended to ask him about as soon as we were on the road again. “Have you finished?” he asked me. “Let’s ask the rods!” I quipped, expecting a ‘yes’ response. I got a ‘no’. Apparently, there was more! I asked the rods to take me to the place where I could find out about this other information, and soon I was walking along the side of the graveyard, past gravestones, until the rods swung back on themselves to point to a grave close to the edge of the path the surrounds the lower site.
There was an inscription on the gravestone. I read, “Oft in danger, oft in woe“. i thought this was very unusual inscription, as I had never seen anything like it before! It was the inscription that was important. It took me several minutes of narrowing down the field before I hit upon the relevance of these words: it was to do with me not putting up energetic protection when I visited sacred sites. I had become too complacent and trusting, relying on my intuition to warn me of potential problems. So far I had been lucky and had visited sites when no-one else was around which has prevented problems so far (apart from one episode that really stuck in both our minds of an encounter at Llandrillo). Now, as I moved into the warmer lighter months I was being warned that other people may cause me problems unless I protect myself appropriately when I go out in the near future. Memories came flooding back and I felt I knew what was being suggested.
I asked if that was all? No, there was more. Again I let the rods take me on a little wander, this time only ten or fifteen feet away from where I was. The rods swung dramatically again to point at what seemed like an ordinary grave of a couple. Again it took me several minutes to divine the answer through a series of questions and response. The couple had been “energetically aware” people, but had died due to some misfortune brought about by an encounter with some form of deviant spirit energy. This was a stronger re-enforcement if I needed it, and I will heed the warning and will be more careful from now on, especially in the presence of other people, whether they mean harm intentionally or not!
All in all, a strange end to the evening for me. For Kal, however, the evening had been highly positive. He had received advice from the yew tree that he should ride out his current issues without trying to resolve them for himself. They would all, apparently, be taken care of – despite how impossible that seemed at that time. A week later everything righted itself against impossible odds and in quite incredible circumstances. Never would we doubt the power of this tree, or its influence over this churchyard!

Druid’s Circle – Neutral Arcs and Naming Parts
There are two places we go to when we need some information – two sites that have never let us down when it comes to getting answers to tricky questions – The Druid’s Circle stone circle up atop Penmaenmawr near Conwy, and the Llangeryw Yew tree that is about half an hour away from there nestled in the north-west tip of Wales. Kal was going for answers to some life and death questions – i.e. questions about his life, and related to the death energies that he was interested in, but certainly wasn’t going to study, oh no. I was going for a host of things: mainly to get some answers about neutral energy and then some miscellaneous bits that had been unresolved for a while.
Maen Crwn
The long trek up the hills behind Penmaenmawr takes you past Red Farm (whose stone circle we have yet to visit) and a standing stone known as “Maen Crwn” or “Round Stone”. Blimey – you can’t leave some people to do the naming, can you? They’re a right ‘un-poetic’ bunch! Anyhow, Round Stone is the noticeable hunk of rock that protrudes through the middle of a field of sheep as you pass by the lone house on the way to the top. Previously we have had negative energies coming off that stone and have avoided doing much with it. The last time I was up that way I felt the urge to “sort it out” and managed to do so merely with some good vibes and a cleverly-placed stone that helped to re-shape the energies.
We checked its’ current status as we passed, and for me it felt fine. For Kal, it was OK, but not somewhere he should remain fro long. That’s fine, at least it wasn’t detrimental this time. I asked Kal to check whether it had been changed due to my previous intervention – he dowsed a “yes” which pleased me. Nice to see your work bearing fruit. There was certainly a less ominous air surrounding the stone, and the area as a whole felt more inviting. The sheep were happy to browse around the stone too, whereas on one memorable previous visit the sheep had actually chased us away as we approached!
Cylch Glanhau
Before we reached the Druid’s Circle there was preparatory business to attend to. There is a small cairn circle known inventively as “Circle 275” in megalithic “circles”, but which I am going to name “Cylch Glanhau” (a perhaps too literal translation of “The Cleaning Circle”). There you go – it has a purpose and has been so named. Kal wandered off to admire the view and check his flies or something, but I remembered that the last time I was here I had been directed to stand within this small circle before going to the Druid’s Circle, and I wanted to see whether that was a necessary step for this particular journey. There was nothing energetically awry with my own field, but the dowsing rods indicated that Kal would need to be cleansed before he visited if he wanted the most favourable “reception” from the circle’s energies.

Kal being cleansed - dirty boy!
So, I called him over and made him stand in the circle for a few minutes before we carried on. He gave me looks which said “Is this strictly necessary?“. I wasn’t being argued with.
Druid’s Circle
Also known as “Y Meini Hirion“, which translates rather prosaically as, “The Standing Stones”. There they go again with their poetic naming – sheesh the romance is killing me! The site is a fair hike to get to and a strain on the car’s engine to even get to “base camp” as it were. Still, the trek is always worth it – Druid’s Circle always rewards effort, and today was no different. The first reward was the view – for the first time ever I could see as far as The Orme at Llandudno.
I entered the circle by the entrance I had been shown on my previous visit, in the eastern side. That was also how I approached the site, from across the dark heathland and through the marsh at the head of the small brook that runs silently beside the circle. I don’t know why – it just felt right to approach from that way, following animal tracks and instinct.
Once I had entered appropriately, stating name and purpose, I waited for the customary ‘tug’ at my energetic centre – the navel chakra. I got one and so went in, pleased to be back and welcomed. I deposited myself on the usual female recumbent stone in the western edge of the circle, as was my custom. I felt very comfortable now, and wanted to get on with some work. I picked my rods out of my bag and began to dowse almost straight away.
I started by asking is there was any Neutral energy here at the stone circle. I got a “yes“. Good, because otherwise it would be a wholly different experience than I would have hoped for.
Arbor Low: Neutrals and Neutralising
The evening of Thursday 8th April seemed like as good a time as any for me to venture forth on the second of my investigations into the nature of NEUTRAL subtle energy. The air was relatively warm, the sky was clear, there was barely a breath of wind, and hardly a cloud in the sky – surely we would not fall foul of the curse of Arbor Low this time – a curse which guaranteed that no matter what the weather was like anywhere else on the planet that Arbor Low would somehow manage to minimise our time there by conjuring up the most adverse weather possible, be that wind, rain, sleet, snow or hailstorm? Surely, on a day such as this, such a thing would not be possible, even for Arbor Low?
Ley Lines and Hubs
We arrived with our dowsing rods and a pack full of handy gadgets intent on obtaining some useful information. Kal perhaps even harboured thoughts of having a snooze and a daydream in the late evening Spring sunshine as we arrived, seeing as there was nary a cloud to be seen. We were in high spirits as we walked up, throwing our customary tribute of £1 into the tin laid out to pay for ice cream for the farmer’s kids, or whatever it goes to. We paid our tithe, noticing that now there was an additional purchase available – a pamphlet on the history of the circle – and strode up to the earthwork ring that contains one of the most fascinating places in Derbyshire. We wondered whether the pamphlet would mention any of the things that we knew about the place – the alleyway entrance, the site guardian and its sigil shape, the three energetic entrances, the power of the central stones to heal and commune, the power centres we knew of, and the fact that it was the hub of six strong and wide ley lines that all joined at this point.
The fact that, for us, Arbor Low is a hub for ley lines was perhaps the primary reason that I was here this evening. If ley lines were neutral energy, as I believed then to be, then perhaps there was more neutral energy here too for me to learn about? I was to find out more than I could have hoped I would!
In the diagram below you will see two cardinal lines passing straight through the site on a North/South axis, and an East/West axis. That makes two lines. Then you will see four more lines emanating from the centre. These lines are individual lines oriented on their own unique courses. These four, plus the two cardinal lines makes six ley lines of neutral energy that we had identified previously.
I began by confirming the orientation of these existing lines. They were all found again, on exactly the same courses as found last time. Nothing had changed in respect of those lines, and that was quite reassuring, because it confirmed my suggestion that these lines are in some way pinned in place by being connectors between particular sacred sites that occur along their direction of travel. The most interesting of these lines is the one that travels SSW and passes through the ancient town of Caerleon, known to be a very special place – a place of Kings, and a seat of Arthur in times long gone and now mythological.
Kal had wandered off on his own course of investigation, as was usual. I wanted to keep moving around now because a slight wind had arisen that was bringing in a very cold stream of air that made standing still feel quite the wrong thing to do if you wanted to stay warm. I decided to find out a good place for me to be within the site, and was expecting to be directed to a particular spot or somewhere that had been identified before. I was quite surprised to be taken on a continuous tour of the inner ring of recumbent stones, walking round and round until I realised that it wasn’t going to stop. I was being told that there was a band of energy that encompassed the inner ring of stones, and it was this energy ring that was beneficial for me this evening. I took that as a good sign to obtain some more information!
I went on to obtain some more information about the nature of neutral energy, some of which was confirmatory, other findings were new to me. Here is what I found out:-
- Neutral energy is same a ley energy
- Neutral energy naturally travels in straight lines
- It can be formed into other shapes by animals, plants or human activity and interaction
- It shares some of its frequency range with male and female radiant energies
- It is not compatible with male and female earth energies
- It can be a container, but cannot itself be contained
- It cannot be attracted or repulsed by any material
- Neutral forms of subtle energy can be created by and strengthened by the input of radiant energies
Dancing with Pan
Saturday – not Sunday – doh!
For about a month my calendar had a red-spot on Sunday 28 Feb with a note to the effect that this was a full-moon day and thus Gwas and I would be venturing forth. Then out of the blue two days prior to our set date Gwas revealed complications for the Sunday and offered up Saturday as an alternative. Unfortunately Saturday was completely booked for me, however not wanting to miss the moons energies and a sacred site visit to boot I hastily re-organised my time table and with fortune playing a final “good” card we were on our way for 12:30 on Saturday.
The long road
As a curiosity we decided to follow the sat-nav instead of going our usual route and boy did that take us the “long” and boring way round. So it was that an hour into the journey and we were only half way there rather than being near our destination.
A energised feeling
Even though it had been raining almost all the way on our journey to Derbyshire by the time we got out of the car the rain had stopped and although Gwas kitted himself out with a raincoat (not boots as he twice reminded me) I decided (as usual) to trust in nature providing me with weather suitable for my attire and left my raincoat behind.
Almost as soon as we stepped off the road I began to feel a deep-seated energy, freshness and a wonderful sense of playfulness. As we got closer to Nine Stones Close this feeling erupted into physicality and I was running, prancing and skipping up the hill and through the fields. Think “Little House on the Prairie” and you won’t be far wrong.

Little house on the Prairie
Welcomed by the great Oak
As we approached the Oak and Nine Stones Close circle both Gwas and I felt a great sense of welcome. Whilst Gwas busied himself around the circle I went over to greet my “old” friend. I really have to say this again: Me and Tree seem to have created a fantastic bond. In moments I was up on the separating wall and in amongst the great oaks branches.

Oak and Circle
Dancing with the energies
The location was quite popular with visitors this day and so we were a bit hampered initially, especially when a group of kids descended upon us and stayed to take photos and “temperature” measurements. Whatever floats your boat, right?
Anyway I was busy in a “long” hello to the Tree so wasn’t too concerned with what was going on behind me. During this hello, my feelings went more and more energised and “youthful”. Until when the field had cleared I found my self so full of energy that I started to skip. The skipping turned into dancing and whilst Gwas amused himself in observation I was happily dancing and prancing under the Oak tree for a good fifteen minutes.
Of course we were here to dowse (technically I did have my dowsing rods in my hands whilst I was dancing, does that count?) so I took up some simple questions to be going on with.
Alignment with Saturn
Since I had performed some healing of the oak trees aura last year, like all good Dr’s should I checked on the health of my patient and was gratified to see (dowse) that le grande oak was in fine auric health. Indeed that oak was acknowledging my friendship with friendship. Wow!!
Meantime Gwas was exploring the energetic alignment of the site and called in my assistance. He had found that the site was aligned to Saturn and no other planet. Interesting…
Intuiting the Pan connection
I began to confirm his findings and got a yes for Saturn too. Then for some reason I found myself asking whether the site had a connection to Pan. Where did that come from? My only reference point was my dancing and prancing…but its a big leap. You see reader you have to know that we don’t talk about pantheons and such like often. In fact I could go so far as to say that until that day “Pan” had never come up in conversation. And yet as plain as day there he was. Gwas did some ancillary dowsing to confirm that this site had a connection with Pan and that his hmmm energetic presence had left the site some 1500 years ago. Due (we dowsed to find) to the lack of belief in him!
Pan
Saturday -> Saturn -> Pan
As is the case so very often, we go out and explore the energies only to return and find so much more meaning in what we did. Let us look at this day. To begin we were supposed to go on Friday but ended up going on Saturday. Then I couldn’t make an earlier time so it was going to be a set off time of around 2.30 – which would have left us scant time for investigation and “play”. But then as “luck” would have it my time became free and we ended up arriving at the site around 2 instead.
Step 1 : we find that the site has connection with Saturn. Now we didn’t ask whether this was a permanent reflection or not. We didn’t think of this at the time but when I returned home and did some research I immediately (and now it seems obvious) that Saturn is related to Saturday! Let me quote Wiki…
Saturday is the only day of the week in which the English name comes from Roman mythology. The English names of all of the other days of the week come from Germanic polytheism. In India, Saturday is ‘Shanivar’, based on Shani, the Vedic god manifested in the planet Saturn. In the Thai solar calendar of Thailand, the day is named from the Pali word for Saturn, and the color associated with Saturday is purple. The Celtic languages also name this day for Saturn: Irish ‘an Satharn’ or ‘dia Sathuirn’, Scottish Gaelic ‘Disathairne’, Welsh ‘dydd Sadwrn’, Breton ‘Sadorn’ or ‘disadorn’.

Wow eh! What a connection to have had. Then I wondered if Pan was connected with Saturn too. So of I went digging away. This investigation immediately led to the information that one of the moons of Saturn is called Pan. OK that wasn’t what I was looking for really so I dug deeper. Here is one reference I found which brought hope…
… Ficino alludes to with discretion, is that Pan has an even higher station – that of the “highest” God. Elsewhere in Ficino’s work he holds that Pan “corresponds to Saturn, the prime intellect and highest God” …
Source: This site.
A further connection can be made thus: Saturn according to many beliefs and perhaps in origin too was the God associated with agriculture, feasts and harvesting (see here). Pan also is connected with fields, fertility and nature.
Perhaps this is stretching it a bit, but I don’t “feel” it is. Here is an interesting statement…
Pan is connected to the season of Spring. Source: Wikipedia
I find this interesting because we are approaching spring and also we got an indication (see Gwas’s post) to return to 9 Stones in Spring.
To get back to the dowsing and what happened at the site. I felt that my dancing had a real connection with Pan and also felt that that had an impact in re-awakening the site (see Gwas’s post on that). Both Gwas and I had a feeling that perhaps we had gone some way in returning this sprightly spirit to the world.
