Spring Equinox 2017 P1 – Venus and The Crow

Spring Equinox 2017 P1 – Venus and The Crow

It’s hard to find the time to do all you need or want to do. Debra Delglyn – the wonderful shaman of south Manchester and teacher of The Wisdom Path – had been diligently asking me when we could meet. I suggested a particular day – the Spring Equinox. I took a day off work and we headed on up to Cumbria. I know – Cumbria in Spring – again! Wasn’t my idea though. Debra had suggested Swinside circle totally independently. I felt it was a sign. Clearly, I am meant to be in Cumbria every Spring. The drive up was a constant contrast between rain and clear skies. That theme continued all during the visit as the cloud and the sun battled to hold each other in the balance for the Equinox. We got the last parking spot and walked...

Back in the Ancestral Feasting Hall

Back in the Ancestral Feasting Hall

It is not very often that I get to work with the ancestors, and even less so that I work with other people. On this occasions I got to do both, and the results surprised me. I was at Conscious Camp, and there was a ceremony hosted by the delightful “Rainbow” (by name and nature). It involved the whole camp being invited ceremonially into the big tent and then began a long evocation of and dedication to the Earth Mother. During the ceremony we were asked to contact our ancestors, whoever we believed them to be. I didn’t have to think about that too much having already contacted them…. (wibbly wobbly dream time screen….) I settled into a meditation – not easy when you’re packed into a tent with a hundred other people. You...

Yellowmead and the Labyrinth – Beltane 2016 P3

Yellowmead and the Labyrinth – Beltane 2016 P3

The scene is this: Beltane. Dartmoor. Dense mist. Two figures are seen stumbling about through moss-dressed old trees, and clambering up hills, heading towards an unseen destination. The impartial observer would wonder why they were bothering, as they don’t seem to be walking a dog. But the impartial observer wouldn’t realise that the two figures had no choice – it was destined, and their bodies were merely aligning them with the inevitable conjunction of time and space. M and I felt like we were the only people on the moor. It was mid-morning and since leaving Down Tor we had not seen a soul.  It was entirely possible we were the last people left alive after an apocalypse, or we had accidentally stepped into a separate reality where the ghostly...

Cailleach and The Mesa Luna Amulet

Cailleach and The Mesa Luna Amulet

Not all my visions come about as a result of a visit to a megalithic site. I do some work with a group of lovely people who attend my outdoor meditation sessions during the Summer months. When the group isn’t meeting during the Winter then some of these friends come around to work with me in a more social context, and this affords us the chance to try different meditation methods. By a beautiful coincidence the evening that we meditated was also a full moon. The omens were auspicious, and the energy of the evening matched it perfectly. The group were lovely (as usual) and when I suggested a meditation we all got stuck in – incense was lit, and a candle was placed in the centre of the group as a focal point for anyone who wanted it. I did. I got...

Oak staff formed in flame

Oak staff formed in flame

I was doing some work with a meditation group. We had met regularly throughout the year and had become good friends. I had gathered them this evening to keep the connections alive whilst the outdoor meditations were in hibernation. I had set a theme for the informal gathering, as I wanted it to still be about meditation, and so the theme was “Using fire“. I lit a candle in my meditation space at the end of the garden – a summerhouse with just enough room to house all eight of us. It was tight squeeze, but it kept us warm and cosy. The candle light became a central focus, and I quickly led the experienced group into the meditation space, and then I followed them, using the light and flicker of the flame to move me into an altered state of...

Autumn Equinox 2015 P2 – Moving onwards and upwards

Autumn Equinox 2015 P2 – Moving onwards and upwards

In the second and final part of my Autumn Equinox outing I was still at Pistyll Rhaeadr. I had been told that I could do everything in one place. Now that I had learned The Song of the Waters at the base of the waterfall, it was time to move onwards and upwards. Taking into account what happened at Dinas Bran I climbed the steep slope very slowly. This was now a deliberate change of pace now that Kal has gone. Everything will be slower and more spanned out now. It’s about quality, not quantity now. One site is enough, done slowly and mindfully. At the top I went to stand on the edge. Kal was an Edge Wizard, and as I faced that inherent fear we have which prevents us from falling from great heights I felt the thrill of being alive. I wished he was here too....
