A very unusual quest – Lammas 1

A very unusual quest – Lammas 1

Timing is everything Phew! It was going to be a long drive to Kilmartin, which was our destination for the Lammas Festival. In fact, it was a six-hour drive as the car-drives. All kudos to Chris for that I have to say (many times).  The day began brightly but as we got closer to Scotland and indeed within Scotland the rain began. It started with a slight spattering and without saying, we thought that, it would be an amount that we could work with. Going through Glasgow we took a wrong turn and ended up being delayed by about half an hour.  We stopped for a lunch around 1 pm about an hour-and-half or so away from our destination and the rain began to pelt down. Lunch was had, sans a delay due to ordering mix-up. Now you might be wondering why I am mentioning these...

Life tumbles on OR Forty Rules of Love

Life tumbles on OR Forty Rules of Love

As you may know, one of the requirements of this wand that I am forging is a gift from the author Elif Shafak. Why you may ask, So have I. In fact I have no idea. I came across a Turkish saying the other day… “Divine guidance is to bring a man to perplexity” Seems quite appropriate to my life for the last eight or so years. Going back to the gift, I have no idea how I am going to acquire that. It’s the universes problem. I will follow the path, such as it is. Nevertheless, I have enjoyed reading her books and highly recommend them. A mere month ago I literally devoured an offering by Elif called, Forty Rules of Love. It is a historical novel based on the meeting between the now famous Sufi poet, Rumi and an itinerant Dervish named, Shams...

Cards by Caileach

Cards by Caileach

When Caileach deals the Tarot you had better pay attention! It was the summer solstice of 2015 and I was at the Hill of Tara. Caileach had appeared and dealt these cards…the whole tale is told here. But what was their meaning? Here is my interpretation, with the help of Bridget of www.biddytarot.com. The Magician Here are some interesting aspects of the Magician card: The Magician is associated with the planet, Mercury – interesting because Mercury is in Gemini (for my birth sign) The number of the Magician is one, the number of beginnings. – which was one of things that came up as in the shattering of the spiral that Caileach did. A time in your life when you have the creative power and energy to create a new life cycle for yourself –...

Summer 2015 – P7 – The Light of Brighid

Summer 2015 – P7 – The Light of Brighid

In the last of my Summer Solstice posts (can you believe we’ve generated so much from one weekend?) we are taken on an escorted tour of a sacred site. We have left David at Fourknocks, but Regina has stayed with us to show us one more site: The Shrine of Brigid at Faughart. We arrived at the shrine site and parked alongside a bus and another car. Throughout the period we visited the car park would get busier, and the site more populous. Regina mentioned that most of the visitors were from the traveller community. The site was quite unusual – a mixture of ancient stones with healing properties and a clutter of modern …. stuff… that seemed to be aimed at… er, informing the visitor and guiding them on their sacred journey in praise of...

Epilog: Spirals Turn – p11 – Solstice 2015

Epilog: Spirals Turn – p11 – Solstice 2015

Wow! How can so much happen in two days? We had arrived in Ireland to celebrate the Summer Solstice of 2015 at 7:30 am on Saturday and departed at 10 pm on Sunday evening. Here is a link to all those adventures. In this post I want to just mention a theme that played across the whole of the pilgrimage. That theme being Spirals. One A few years ago, a very dear friend of mine, Tam, from the States was visiting Ireland on a sacred journey. There she met David (at Four Knocks), who was one of the cohorts on that journey. At one point, David was telling Tam of the experiences of another adventurer who had visited Four Knocks. He didn’t mention my name. Then later that day, Tam was telling David about the adventures of a friend of hers, named Kal and the...

The Maze, Wheel and Labyrinth – Spring 1

The Maze, Wheel and Labyrinth – Spring 1

Yes, is the answer to your pre-sojourn question of, “Are you nuts?” The reason you are asking this question is because we told you that we drove some 250 miles to visit a turf maze. Now, that has to be a record even for us? Soon to be broken however when I visit Easter Island. Another story… The sun had yet to make a decent appearance when we arrived at the Maze around 9:30 am. I was shocked when I saw it. What had I expected. A maze of course. However this wasn’t the kind of maze I had in mind. In fact I immediately proposed a new rule to Chris… Should the place we are going be representative of this then I want to know about it and the ability to veto it. With that said I proceeded to check out the energies of the maze and its...
