The Broken Beacon – P3 Winter 2016

The Broken Beacon – P3 Winter 2016

Beacon Hill, or Caer Digoll, is accessible either from a short walk up a path used to access the nearby radio masts, or it can be reached by following Offa’s Dyke Path. We approached from the nearby road because it’s Winter and the shortest day of light in the year. It would be nice to see it in Summer though, approaching by the ancient track. Before we even arrived M had felt the pull of the place, and the sense that we were expected. “Something“, she said, “is excited about our visit.” I tuned in and felt that it was the community of elemental spirits which inhabited the hill who were excited about our imminent arrival. Nice to feel wanted, right? I felt the hill needed a spiritual fire re-lighting even before we got there....

Summer Solstice 2016 – Brimham Rocks

Summer Solstice 2016 – Brimham Rocks

It’s as close as I wanted to get to the Summer Solstice. You know that I’m not a fan of the peak of the male energy spectrum, yet it must be recognised. So, I have made arrangements with the wonderful meditator John David Kirby and the delightfully deep Deborah Delglyn, Shaman Priestess of South Manchester. We are heading for Brimham Rocks in North Yorkshire. It’s only when you travel there that you realise how big Yorkshire is. Even though we set off in the early morning we don’t arrive until lunch time. As we arrive a crow swoops the car. I take this as a sign of You-Know-Who being around. He’s bound to be. It was his favourite time of the year. He was certainly on my mind. We quickly find a convenient parking spot away from the...

Spirit of Place in the Meditation Circle

Spirit of Place in the Meditation Circle

I started a weekly meditation circle last year. I was impressed by how many people turned up regularly, but this year the intake was even bigger. I made a few changes this year. I moved the venue slightly to provide a more intimate working space, and to accommodate more people. Part of that work involved me clearing out a place that was overgrown and full of old rotting and rusting junk. It took me a couple of days to clear, but when the space was finished it felt amazing. Before I had done any work I had entered into a dialog with the Spirit of Place. Was the space suitable? Would it be alright to use it in this way? Was the spirit happy with me preparing the space or should it be left as it was? All these questions were asked and more. So, I already felt...

Lammas 2015 P3 Dunchraigaig Cairn and the Ash Tree

Lammas 2015 P3 Dunchraigaig Cairn and the Ash Tree

The wonderful thing about the Kilmartin Glen area is the density of megalithic sites, and the way the local authority has presented and preserved these important places. Dunchraigaig Cairn [link] is a prime example of this. We flew past it on the way in, but now we were heading back along the road we came in on so that we could access the site. Sometimes we “choose” the order of events, sometimes the order is imposed upon on by “chance”. We parked in the small purpose-built car park and negotiated the surprisingly busy A816 road close to the Dunchraigaig Bed and Breakfast building. Once across we seemed to be in a serene space, surrounded by tall old trees of differing varieties which ringed the main attraction – a low-lying mound of...

When the dowsing rods say YES

When the dowsing rods say YES

As you will know, if you read this journal a lot, that I am pretty good with making decisions in my life based on what I read from the rods as well as the signs and omens. Here is a question though… What do you do when the signs, omens and dowsing rods give you an unequivocal YES and your thinking and feelings are telling you, NO The first thing you can do is question whether you are in a fit state to ask the question…to which the answer is Yes. Of course you could then ask whether you are in a fit state to ask even that question, which then becomes ad nauseum. At some point you have to say, I’m okay. The next point of call is to ask whether you can actually ask the question you originally asked in the first place, to which the answer is Yes. So...

Summer 2015 – P5 – Faery Awakenings at Fourknocks

I have mentioned on previous occasions about how I believe that the Faery kind have got both a King and a Queen, and that they revealed themselves to me in Brittany one year as “Bel” and “Titania”. Together, this is where I think we get the Celtic festival of “Beltane” from – from the union of these two spiritual forces. Just indulge me! There’s no scholarly research gone into that – this was a piece of knowledge that was given to me, and I simply accept it for my own purposes, as a way of recognising those two spiritual energies when I meet them. Such is the prelude to my meeting with two of Kal’s Irish friends: Regina and David. Two nicer spiritual people you couldn’t hope to meet. They have that...
