The Thin Veil – Samhain 2016

The Thin Veil – Samhain 2016

It’s Samhain, or Halloween and I’m travelling to Valle Crucis Abbey in Llangollen in the heart of the night. The idea is that I will meet with Cailleach and Duignan to take advantage of the thin veil between the Middle Earth and The Underworld. If you need a “catch up” on these two “personalities” then here’s a link with keywords for each: Cailleach ¦ Duignan As I drive towards the town, down weaving flowing dark roads that I know so well, I hear a phrase which I don’t understand the relevance of at that time. The phrase which repeats itself is “ready or not“, and it is sung in the style in which The Fugees did that track a while ago: “Ready or not, here I come. You can’t hide. Gonna find...

Back in the Ancestral Feasting Hall

Back in the Ancestral Feasting Hall

It is not very often that I get to work with the ancestors, and even less so that I work with other people. On this occasions I got to do both, and the results surprised me. I was at Conscious Camp, and there was a ceremony hosted by the delightful “Rainbow” (by name and nature). It involved the whole camp being invited ceremonially into the big tent and then began a long evocation of and dedication to the Earth Mother. During the ceremony we were asked to contact our ancestors, whoever we believed them to be. I didn’t have to think about that too much having already contacted them…. (wibbly wobbly dream time screen….) I settled into a meditation – not easy when you’re packed into a tent with a hundred other people. You...

Healing The Past Self

Healing The Past Self

I don’t often put myself into the hands of someone else to do healing, as I usually think that I can do most of it myself. However, occasionally someone else can spot something that you are either missing, or deliberately avoiding. When I went to see a fellow shaman, the wonderful Debra Delglyn, then what began as a chat and a quick massage of sore legs turned into a proper therapy session! After doing Hellrunner again this year I had sore legs. I hadn’t actually anticipated a massage but when I got there I cheekily asked if I could have one, and Debra obliged thankfully. Debra seems to use massage as an entry point for a greater healing experience. As my muscles relaxed she was sensing something wasn’t right through her bio-feedback mechanisms...

Ancestral knowledge – Lammas 2

Ancestral knowledge – Lammas 2

In the previous post I talked about my experiences in Nether Largie. Well, in the field next to that stands a singular stone. As I watched Chris leave I noted that he hadn’t needed to go that stone. I was of the same mind, however as I walked by the gate into the field it was in, the rods twitched. Fortunately the gate to the field was openable and I didn’t have to climb it, this area being very public and all. The rods led me towards it in a very feminine way, gentle and smooth wavy path with many a spiral along the way. Visually it didn’t look very spectacular and I presumed that that was why there were no tourists in this field. Regardless, I continued my walk towards it. I was about a quarter of the way, when a bee fluttered by. Since my...

Magician Quest

Magician Quest

It began with an urge…to connect with my ancestors. Which was to begin in the home of my folks, Pakistan. Or so I thought. In fact I had even put it on my list of places to visit. Then a visit to Dinas Emrys and a commune with the spirit of Merlin changed all that. Merlin had told me that I wasn’t of Albion (obviously) but also that I wasn’t of Pakistan or the historical region it was in. This was a bit of shock, but not more than a huge spiral turning when he said that I was related to, if not the descendant of a magician from the middle-east. Starting points on spirals is a terrible gambit. As soon as you think that this is where it all began you are shown another step in the past which is also where it could have started. Was it with Dragons...

Summer 2015 – P4 – Tara Celebrations

Summer 2015 – P4 – Tara Celebrations

Hill of Tara – County Louth, Ireland It was still the first day of our visit, but we had checked into the B&B in order to get freshened up and prepared for an evening at The Hill of Tara. We were staying in Blackrock – quite a way out from the main attractions, but very reachable in our hire car. The travel gave us thinking and preparation time. Talking of preparation – before I left that evening I decided to do a tarot reading for the events that might happen. In a bid to get one up on The Future I did some divination. Let’s call it preparation. I drew three tarot cards that would be my guidance for the events that were to come at Tara – one card for the Past, one for the Present and one for the Future: A Quick Reading At the...
