The Broken Beacon – P3 Winter 2016

The Broken Beacon – P3 Winter 2016

Beacon Hill, or Caer Digoll, is accessible either from a short walk up a path used to access the nearby radio masts, or it can be reached by following Offa’s Dyke Path. We approached from the nearby road because it’s Winter and the shortest day of light in the year. It would be nice to see it in Summer though, approaching by the ancient track. Before we even arrived M had felt the pull of the place, and the sense that we were expected. “Something“, she said, “is excited about our visit.” I tuned in and felt that it was the community of elemental spirits which inhabited the hill who were excited about our imminent arrival. Nice to feel wanted, right? I felt the hill needed a spiritual fire re-lighting even before we got there....

Shamanic Lands 4 – Working with Elementals

This is the second of the posts about the presentation given by the very knowledgeable Dr.Patrick MacManaway at the Shamanic Lands event at the Conway Hall in London. In this second post I will recount the information that he gave relating to working with dragons and specifically with the various elementals. Elementals are the spirits of the earth, fire, water and air which play a large part in mediating and harmonising the subtle energies which operate in an area. Working with Elementals Patrick talked about bringing your brain into the right state of mind in order to communicate with the Elementals. He showed us diagrams of the brain states: Alpha waves for relaxation, and Theta waves for the meditative state. As plants work in the Alpha and Theta range, so we...

Lammas 2015 P7 – The Troll of Carnasserie Castle

Lammas 2015 P7 – The Troll of Carnasserie Castle

After a hearty breakfast at the Loch Melfort Hotel – a hotel with stunning lake views and roaming highland cattle – we checked out and made our way back to Kilmartin. We had passed signs on the edge of Kilmartin for a castle called Carnasserie, and this would be our first stop today. Later we would head to the museum, but first we wanted to take a look at the castle. Kal and I split up to work separately, as usual. I asked for a place of preparation, and the dowsing rods took me over to the remains of what appeared to be an old outer wall or tower, which now afforded a stunning view of the valley below. This was located to the north side of the Renaissance castle. As I began to allow myself to attune to the vibrations and energy frequencies of the...

Lammas 2015 P5 The Undine Pact

Lammas 2015 P5 The Undine Pact

We had passed a tall standing stone – The Kintraw Standing Stone – on the way to the hotel, and had said that it would be nice to visit it at sunset. So it was that we arrived at the stone just as the sun was sinking behind the dark hills. I wasn’t feeling this stone spiritually. To me it felt like an energetic investigation was required. There was something to learn. I stood at the base of the stone. I could feel the stone draw down the last remaining rays of the sun. At this time it was slowing the intake and about to start turning around from drawing in to giving out. I wondered whether it gave out energy during the evening. I dowsed where the energy output would be for a New Moon – I found a field boundary three feet away from the base...

Element of air

Air, the final element I am sure for the right person Florence is a beautiful place to visit. Galleries, museums, cafes, water-fronts and much more is at the tips of tourist fingers. However as a choice of places to visit, it wouldn’t be on my list, or at least not very high. As a side note, I would love to visit the place with someone who is an art fan (sic). Yet, here I was on the train to Florence. The answer to the question that is begging to be asked, namely, “Why?” The answer is always complicated isn’t it. In this instance because of a vision that I had some months back. Now, as readers will know, I am on a quest to obtain four elements. Each had to be obtained in a different country. Other posts detail the acquisition of Earth,...

The Maiden Enforces Rest – Solstice 5

The Maiden Enforces Rest – Solstice 5

We weren’t sure how to approach Maiden’s Bower – a turf maze in Yorkshire. Coming from Ripon, down the A1(M) once more, ending up in the village of Topcliffe. In the village we took Winn Lane, which goes back over the A1 road. On the other side there was just enough space to park the car, and then we followed the straight track until a stile took us across the farmland. The first feature you encounter is Cock Lodge – a raised earthwork of substantial proportions. At first we thought this might be the thing we were looking for, but luckily I had seen a picture on Megalithic Portal of the place we were searching for – this wasn’t it. I asked the dowsing rods to lead me to the correct place, and they took me alongside Cock Lodge...
