This is the third part of our Spring Equinox posts for 2011. In this post I recount the tale of how we re-aligned the stone circle at Blakeley Raise. In keeping with our day so far we were having navigation problems – Kal had his iPhone 4, I had mu 3GS version, and neither of them were helping us much! I realised how reliant I had become on technology in that I hadn’t printed a general OS map of the area, just of the detail within a mile of the site, but first we had to find the site!

We drove up what we guessed might be the right road south from Ennerdale Bridge, and soon it became a strip of thin tarmac in the middle of nowhere. I had a funny feeling we had missed it so we stopped. Kal’s phone reckoned it was half a mile backt he way we had come, and my cdetailed map agreed – providing we were actually in the right road in the first place! We parked at the bottom of the slope that we imagined it might be on and walked over the rise, or should I say, “The Raise”, for as we crested the hill there was the circle – only twenty feet from the road! We had driven right past it without noticing! D’oh!

We stopped to admire the view – the circle was positioned in a prime location with wide views iof the north and west – going down to the coast. It was also framed beautifully by the eastern hills, and in the glorious sunshine of the day the circle provided us with some excellent photographs.

For some reason we both hung back a moment when we saw the circle. It looked alright, but something wasn’t quite…right about it. We stood a moment longer, not saying anything, then broke the silence and wandered up to the circle. We hadn’t been able to say what it was that was wrong and so our reason had decided to override our intuition and move our bodies onwards. Things to do – places to go!

One of the first things that Kal did here was to check the veracity, the authenticity of the stones. He found that most were re-positioned. Only four of the eleven remaining stones were actually in the correct position (those over on the right-hand side of the photograph above – the eastern side). Many of the stones had been “helpfully” concreted into position! Good grief! Thousands of years ago we were clever enough to be able to make these stones stand firmly for millennia, but today we have to concrete them in? Shockingly poor demonstration of how far (backwards) we have come.

This time there was work for Kal to do (why is he always so begrudging about this – it’s exciting?). He quickly determined that he needed to do some work to re-align the stone circle back to its original star alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. Some people have their energy fields empowered by the direct subtle energy force of The Sun, whilst others are empowered by the indirect subtle energy of The Moon. The place is an energetic centre where a particularly beneficial combination and formation of energies is formed into a pattern that is harmonic with the person for whom it can be called a power centre.. We then did some work to “pin” this energy in place so that the circle was aligned with the frequency of the star that best suited the circle’s energy structure. It so happened that the circle needed to be pulled back towards the sun, as this was the strongest source of energy for it, and it kept the circle’s energies flowing the strongest.

The final aspect of this work was for us to “stir up” the energy flow around the circle – thus re-energising it and waking it up, so to speak. For this we both walked around the outside of the stones in a widdershins direction, following a dowsable energy trail wherever it led us. Normally, such a direction would actually quell or calm down energies, but in this instance the circle was in need of re-balancing through the injection of some female energy, and our perambulations were getting the energies to go wider and farther out as we walked and walked around. Each time we circled the stones, sometimes going in and out between them, the peaks of the wave forms got larger.

We both noticed how the energies of the circle followed a very ragged pattern. Around the area where the original stones were they hugged the stones, weaving playfully in and out of the edge of the perimeter. As we made our way to where the stones had been re-positioned the energy form was highly disturbed! The peaks were wild and unconfined, jagged, un-subtle, sharp and ragged. They were anything but “natural” feeling. They had little symmetry or subtlety. We felt increasingly aggrieved again about the poor quality of the re-building of this circle, and were not surprised that it needed a little bit of work doing to it. We felt we had at least contributed to it in a sympathetic manner, even if we couldn’t physically re-locate the stones to resolve the issue fully.

Later in the day, on the way home, just talking about this circle would provoke us into a very dangerous comment – that we would attempt to build o9ur own stone circle this year, and to employ within it all the things we had learned about how stones should be positioned, and how energies should be treated. Let’s see if we live up to that boast!

A long time ago (although the way Kal and I are measuring time these days it might have been a few weeks ago) I took a friend who was getting into dowsing to a road that I knew well. I had been noticing lots of near misses along the road and had even felt peculiar passing over various places in the road. Now I wanted to check whether the road had any negative black streamA flow of subtle energy emerging from a source. The source is usually imbued with some negative qualities, for example, it may be a source of geopathic stress where geology is under pressure, or toxic gases are emitted. Alternatively, the source may be imbued with negative emotions such as anger, fear or hatred left there by the intent of a human being. The result is a toxic dispersal of flows of “black” energy. These flows can cause disruption to everything in their path, such as accident blackspots if they cross roads, or polluted streams if they contact water. energy passing over it, so I took my friend along to make the job of dowsing easier, and to see if we got similar results.

I sent my friend to the far end of the road, whereas I started at the near end. We were separated by about a quarter of a mile, and we walked towards each other. I could see in the distance that he was stopping every now and again, and re-tracing his steps. I had also found something. At several points down the road there were wide bands of dark energy flowing down the slope of the hill across which the road scythed. The bands were of a strength rating of around 7 (on a scale of 1-10) – a rating which meant that they were becoming a problem.

We met and confirmed each others’ findings. There were several streams of negative energy flowing across the lower half of the road too. Could we determine their source? If they were flowing down the hill, all of them, then wouldn’t their source be further up the hill? The rods indicated that there was a single source, and that it was near the top of the hill. As we were narrowly avoiding death by standing on this small country road as it was, and there was nothing visible near the top of the hill, I decided to leave finding the source until another day.

Several months passed. Spring and then Summer passed. I was travelling home past the top of the hill several times a week now, and my eye had begun to be attracted by a lane. Where did it go? It looked like it might go to the top of this “problem hill”. Might the source of the black streams be found along that path? The pressure mounted and the near misses on the road below seemed increasingly dangerous until one evening I decided to go and look.

The track was used as an entrance to one house, but was at the back of others which bordered the problem road below. The land was easy to walk, slightly overgrown and peaceful. Was there really a source of black energy up this way, I wondered? I got my rods out and dowsed:-

YES, came the response.

I didn’t intend spending all evening finding it!

I didn’t have long to wait. The lane bent slightly and suddenly the road that I had walked in from disappeared from view. Almost immediately I saw a heap of whiteness ahead of me. What was it? As I neared I began to recognise shapes – bit of plastic guttering, sheets of plasterboard, mastic casings, cardboard, lengths of painted wood….the list went on and on. Here was a dump of faded building material, clearly ripped out from a house nearby and then dumped by an unscrupulous builder to avoid time, expense and hassle!

As I stood there aghast at this blot on the country loveliness around my head began to tighten. I was developing a headache! I moved away until the pressure eased, which was about twenty feet back down the path. Something had to be done. By me. I mustered my resources, put up some protection, and then ventured back into the fray to sort this out.

My protection guarded against being drained by this black source, yet I looked around for any alliance upon which I could draw. This was going to take more energy than I had on my own. I went into trance and felt around for compatriots amongst the nearby trees – some were willing but most were afraid to get involved. I admonished them (yes, I did, I told trees off – but it worked) and they relented in the face of my passionate plea. I called upon all the trees within the line of sight, especially the bigger ones, all the hedges, and finally all the shrubs and plants, to join together to help me put an energetic cage around this heap of crap in order to seal the dark force inside it and let the land heal. As I shaped the sphere of white strands of light around the pile I felt the gradual inclusion and collusion of the local plant life working with me. That made it really easy. Once the work was done I went around thanking the trees for their help.

A day later I dowsed for the effect: before I shielded the pile the black source was registering as a 9 out of 10. A day later the influence was at a level of 0.5 on the scale. Nearly dropping off the scale! I drove down the road affected by the black streams too and the road felt a little wider somehow! All I need to do now is convince (or shame) the local council into removing the rubbish. Or doing it myself if they won’t.

Throughout this year there has been a single overriding concern that has permeated everything that I do regarding dowsing or druidry: there must be a purpose to it. By that I don’t mean that I haven’t had fun, or avoided doing frivolous things. Not at all. However, each visit that I have embarked upon has been characterised by my having a purpose to go there with. This was the message that I got out of the consolidation period at the end of 2009, that period between Samhain and Yule when one should bring all things learned in the year together, sort through them, and resolve them into a unified approach for the next year’s work. Like some kind of meta-idea, the concept emerged that for 2010 my task would be to determine the purpose of each eighth part of the year – to understand the eight-fold year.

There seems to be a common acceptance of what is considered to be the revived concept of the eight-fold year amongst Neo-Pagan and Wiccan circles. This has all the dates that are close to what may be the ‘original’ divisions of the year. Truth is, no-one really knows how the divisions of the year were named, or upon which dates these divisions actually fell. What has been reconstructed has come to us through a combination of modern research into old customs, or through the collective acceptance of dates that feel familiar and proper. It has largely been a process of re-appropriation of existing festivals such as Christmas, Easter and Hallowe’en, wresting them from the clutches of the Christian sovereignty.

Whilst there is a certain concensus as to what those specific division dates mean, what is not clear is what the time in between those divisions means. I have been following the year’s divisions closely since Winter and have communed and divined for myself what those in-between days (cf. The Cure) mean to me.

There is a certain difficulty with being precise about these division dates too. Nature does not appear as being very precise to us humans because we cannot comrpehend all of the factors involved in what makes The Great Clock tick! The combination of influences from stars, planets, conjunctions, and who knows how many other influences is simply beyond our comprehension. Therefore, we can only “best guess” when these times arise besed on previous experience, and then we need to be flexible about it all, because we probably won’t guess entirely correctly. Does precision matter in working out these division times? I don’t think so, becuase most of the divisions are largely dependent upon the Moon, and the Moon’s influence occurs over several days, and this gives us a certain amount of lee-way.

One final caveat: the information I have discovered is, I believe, probably quite personal to me. I am not, therefore, espousing a new system to explain the Eight-Fold Year as a replacement for other systems that are out there or that you may be using already. Nor am I trying to back up my claims with astological, scientific or any other form of knowledge system. These explanations may be entirely my own – I don’t know until I have had perhaps several years worth of data to analyse. This is my first year of gaining this knowledge, so please bear that in mind when you read this. It is for your edification and information only, and it is merely presented so that it may suggest things for you to try out for yourself.

So, that said, here goes. So far I have discovered the following stages:-

YULE to IMBOLC

The division line may actually be Twelfth Night rather than Christmas Day. I will have to check that when it comes around again this year to get the precise cut-over, not that any of these divisions are precise, because they’re not. However, I think it’s worthwhile me finding out whether it’s Christmas or Twelfth Night.

PURPOSE:

1. To be still and quiet.
2. To engage in no activity of a magickal nature at all.
3. To cleanse the mind of the information from the previous year.

Anything that has not sunk in already after the period immediately prior to this one (which I think is about consolidating information) should not be brought forward into the new year. The purpose of this period is to cleanse oneself of all that “baggage” and to leave the mind in a state whereby new knowledge, new seeds, can be planted upon a well-prepared but settled soil. As with meditation, achieving stillness is the key to appreciating this time of the year. The “season of peace” indeed!

IMBOLC to SPRING EQUINOX

PURPOSE:

1. To awaken the energies of ancient sacred sites.
2. To awaken, pay homage to, or recall the guardian spirits of such places.
3. To prepare the ground for the year’s energy work, by preparing self and place.

This is an interactive stage of the year, and is the first involvement by the participant (the seeker) with the land and its spirits and energies. I found that I was asked to visit many of the places that I had found the be especially find of (read – ‘connected to’, or ‘aligned to’) and that when I was there I would go through a process of firstly finding out what state the place was in, then I would connect to the site, and finally, if necessary, I would invoke the spirit of the place – that guardian spirit – to ask that it return if I found it to be absent. Of course, I could only make a request of the spirit to return, and only if I had prepared the ground appropriately, so to speak.

All of this work, of visiting sites, connecting to them and contacting or invoking the spirit of place, it was all a form of preparation for the work that was to come. A sort of re-introduction, a gentle re-awakening to energies and spirits.

SPRING EQUINOX to BELTANE

PURPOSE:

1. To connect to the earth’s energy grid.
2. To understand the nature of Neutral earth energy forms.
3. To extract and utilise Neutral energy.

I think there is a general principle at work during this period, and that is for the seeker to learn to connect into the land. As the earth energies begin to be enlivened by the radiant energy of the sun, and together with the moon this draws life from the land. That signals the time for the seeker to spend time connecting with this upsurge of energy. In some mystical systems the human is the mid-point between the Sky and the Earth, and I think this is a symbolic memory of our ability to actually be the conduit and focal point for the two forms of energy – earth and radiant. We are the combiners.

As for myself this year, I have found that there was an additional task which was to learn in a theoretical and a practical way how I could extract the neutral energy form and store it within me. I learned how to re-charge myself with this energy using my navel chakra point as a storehouse for the neutral energy form – in exactly the same way as in chinese qigong meditation.

In addition to simply drawing out and collecting this energy I learned how to use neutral energy to ‘coat’ objects in order to preserve their energetic imprint. This was a means of creating so-called “power objects” I realised. In other words, it was a way of retaining those special qualities that people had invested into an object – whether that be a memory, a feeling, or some other form of energetic input. I learned how that energy could be retained within the object by using raw neutral energy to preserve it like a coat of varnish.

BELTANE to SUMMER SOLSTICE

PURPOSE:

1. To understand the nature of the neutral or white light energy form and how it is composed
2. To practise diffracting and re-combining the seven coloured frequencies of light
3. To make practical use of these energies to elevate consciousness

I believe this part of the year’s cycle concerns the effort to raise one’s level of consciousness to an opportunity point in the middle of the year when the energies are at their strongest, and one stands the greatest chance of elevating into an enlightened state, or achieving a blissful and revelatory state of mind.

So far I have found that for me this will involve me learning about how to bring together the two inner energy centres – the neutral energy store of the lower dan-tian or navel chakra point, and to combine that with the influx of light energy through the third-eye chakra point in order to diffract the energy into any of the seven frequencies of subtle energyA form of energy that has so far eluded scientific definition. It is neither electric, magenetic, nor electro-magnetic, so far as our current technical equipment can measure. It does, however, exhibit many of the characteristics of magnetism and electricity in terms of its effects and properties. It may be a form of either or both of those energies that we have not yet identified. that I require to be able to perform whatever task I need (for example, to heal an imbalance, or to utilise a particular frequency for a specific task). At this moment I don’t know what tasks those frequencies can perform, but that is learning that I still have to go through.

I suspect that there may be some esoteric benefit to being able to draw in each of the frequencies of this spectrum of light individually and to recombine them somehow to form a white light frequency, and that this may be the “light at the end of the tunnel” or the blinding inspiration that is described as accompanying an enlightenment process. My quest, however, is to understand the purpose of being able to do that, not just the mechanics of making it possible!

So, not much to do then in the next few months!

Summary

That is my current understanding and recap of the year’s inspirations and the paths along which I have travelled during this year. I feel that much of that information is general enough for most people to get some correspondence with, or for it to resonate with most people. Much of it is also personal and relates to my own quest for knowledge, understanding and wisdom in working with the energies of Nature. You decide where that take you. I will, as ever, go my own way.

This is the final part of my series on the nature of neutral energy. This part has built on the first two posts I did (and any ones prior to that in the distant past, I suppose – but who can remember that far back?). In this post I want to share with you a quite esoteric lesson that I learned, so if you’re squeamish about such ‘nonsense’ then I’d consider some of the more, how can I put it, ‘prosaic’ posts instead. If you’ve been journeying with me on these matters then this will be no great shock to you, but here goes with the weirdness/nonsense/madness (delete as appropriate).

I had been shown recently in a vision whilst working at a site that I should learn how to connect to the earth’s neutral energy source, and to learn how to work with that energy,. because that was the theme of this part of the year – this eighth part of the year between Spring Equinox and Beltane. It was nearing the end of that time period now, and I had only a rare few opportunities left to fulfil that requirement – and I did feel as though it was something of a requirement for me to do this.

I saw an opportunity one evening to make my way to a site, providing it was not too far away. The weather was very good for April in England – it was dry and sunny. I dowsed as to which place nearby had most suitable neutral energies for me to learn such things – Gop Hill near to Trelawynd village came out as the only contender. So be it.

Luckily, Kal was free too, so we went together to North Wales in the late evening sun – he had some wonderful stories about his recent life that just blew me away and so we were both in a good mood when we arrived. You may remember he had received some interesting information about sitting out his personal issues, and lo and behold – a minor miracle had occurred!

Unlike Kal I entered the site appropriately, as usual introducing myself and asking for permission to partake of an intended learning experience. On the way to the hill we had seen some people ahead of us, heading for the hill as well. These three people were already there when we arrived and the older gentleman commented on the beauty of my staff. How very nice to have it complimented. It was becoming quite special to me now.

I gave Kal a tour of the places I had identified last time I was here. He dowsed them and agreed with everything that he checked of my previous efforts. Nice to have this independently verified. When the three other people left I found an old iron pan that someone had left on the top of the hill and dowsed as to whether it was adversely affecting energies – yes, so I launched it down the back of the hill almost as far as the edge of the forest. It clattered its way down and the birds in the trees were startled, for which I apologised profusely, attempting to spread a vibe of calm all around to help pacify the atmosphere. It took them five minutes to recover! Oops!

At the end of what had been a fabulous year for dowsing I made what is arguably the most important dowsing discovery to date. Kal had persuaded me to go out on one last dowsing trip for the year, and I had rather grudgingly said yes, not quite seeing what we could achieve in the freezing cold.

I decided to show Kal a local treasure that he hadn’t visited yet – Frodsham Caves, perched behind Overton Hill above Frodsham, frequented by teen rebels with cider fixations, firework testers, litter louts and cattle with upset stomachs, it’s not exactly a beauty spot! However, for some reason it came to mind to visit first before we headed off to Delamere Forest which is nearby.

Once in the caves I was able to re-affirm the positions of the power centres and energy flows I had found previously (most of which I had forgotten about) – Kal’s sit-down spot just inside the cave, the female energies hugging the walls, the weak male energy, the ‘eye holes’ and associated power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. I associated the weak male energy with the time of year – the sun had only just begun to turn the corner from the darkest day at the end of December. That was an interesting discovery, but nothing compared to the patterns that I traced when I dowsed the power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. Some people have their energy fields empowered by the direct subtle energy force of The Sun, whilst others are empowered by the indirect subtle energy of The Moon. I dowsed the formation: it was a pair of opposing spirals that seemed to form a recognisable shape – a simple shape that I recognised. It was a pair of ram’s horns! I saw the shape clearly in my mind as I traced it over the ground.

I then had a revelation that the formation of the dual opposing spirals may have inspired mankind to associate the symbol with the astrological zodiacal constellation prevalent at the time, e.g. Ram’s horns = Aries = 21st March-20th April = the most energetic time at this location. I dowsed again to determine the dates when these caves were most energetically active: between 3rd – 6th April 2010- which falls within the constellation of…ARIES! Only one of the “eyes” seemed connected to this formation, however. What about the other eye – was it aligned tom a different astrologial time of the year? It felt like I had stumbled across something here, and it has become my mission for the next 12 months to determine exactly what this may mean, and whether other sites have similar links to astrological signs in the same way. At the time it felt very significant indeed – like my next year’s mission had been given to me.

Delamere Forest

After Frodsham we ventured on towards Delamere Forest. Again, I had no idea what we could achieve at this time of year in the forest – it all seemed a bit pointless, because the energies were going to be at a very low ebb this far into Winter. Nevertheless, again on a whim, I decided to show Kal the bent-over tree that was one of my favourite places in the forest, and which I was sure he would not have found himself yet.

As we walked through a section that in Summer was quite dark and bleak I noticed that the recent rain and snow had actually made the stream running alongside the path forge in tumults of white lively water – how lovely! The water was clearing the stream of sticks, leaves and other assorted blockages and hopefully it would flow better this year. Just the other side of this we got to a place where the dourness lightened. At this spot we both stopped and Kal turned to me with a strained face: “Do you feel that?” he asked. I did – it was that horrible stomach-turning feel of “bad energy”. We looked up to see some telegraph wires and poles cutting through the forest and turning at an angle just above our heads.

A quick dowse from Kal confirmed his suspicions – something was wrong and we had the ability to rectify it – or rather, Kal had the ability to persuade me that I should do something about it by placing my crystals roundabouts to create an energetic barrier to deflect the electrostatic energy and protect the nearby trees. I placed some crystals around the telegraph poles and struts to form an energy barrier to stop the energy from leaking out of the kink in the cable line and into the nearby stream, and affecting the trees that grow at the junction point. Kal dowsed for the location to place crystals and I placed them – that was enough, it seems. I have to leave the crystals there until the Summer for the change to really take effect!

We moved on. We made a brief stop at the bent over tree that is one of the most powerful places in the forest. Since I discovered this spot last year I have been drawn to it many times. In the warmer half of the year this place is heaven, when the sun sets across the field and the light twinkles through the trees. In Winter it becomes a barrier for only those with a brave heart or sturdy boots to pass!

The Bent-Over Birch

Beyond this there is a special place that I was led to by the dowsing rods last year.At the time I didn’t know why I had been taken there, but suddenly, this day, I could see a reason to go – I would try out a ritual that I had been ‘shown’ a few months earlier in a vision when communicating with a Fire Spirit. More about such things to be posted in the near future – I’m kind of building up to that! I feel like I’ve stretched your credulity levels enough for one year, and this year I may have to stretch them a little further, but as I say – we’ll come to that soon. I did a quick ritual using nine teal-light candles. [NOTE: I'm not a big fan of rituals, but I was willing to try]. During the ritual I was given a means to call upon the power of a fire spirit by means of a creative visualisation. It was so subtly simple that I knew I had been given something valuable. Most good information is easily absorbed. I felt that something meaningful had occurred and was pleased.

The moment that my little ritual ended the rain began to come down and hasn’t stopped since – that’s balance, I guess? Or the water spirit making her presence felt? This had turned out to be a rather interesting day after all.

Section 2. Dowsing and Earth Energies

A lot of work was done by Kal in particular this year relating to the modification of energy centres within houses. Some people call this “house dowsing” or “healing sick houses”. It relates to a concept called “geopathic stress”, but we have found that this “stress” has more causes than simply a water course running under the house. There was a fantastic checklist produced by a British Society of Dowsers member in the December issue of the group’s quarterly magazine ‘Dowsing Today’, which lists these causes, and I will post more on that soon, because I think the information bears repeating and distributing.

I was lucky enough to spend a day at Carnac in France this summer. It was a most glorious day and highly productive, but I absolutely must go back to spend longer there. I feel there is more to be learned still from this massive and impressive site. Other interesting sites this year include: Druid’s Circle above Penmaenmawr; also Nine Stones Close and Nine Ladies stone circles in Derbyshire. I will publish a full list of sites as one of the summary posts in this series.

Here are some of things we learned about dowsing and earth energies this year:-

2-1. House dowsing:

• We can dowse houses accurately, either locally or remotely
• We can either send and receive energy to specific points in the house, providing the house has not been “sealed off” and permission is given
• We can modify the energy formations on site
• Crystals can be used to repair this energetic state, and to change unhelpful or misaligned energies into helpful and aligned ones
• Plants can be asked to contribute to this
• The beneficial effects take some time – depending on how far the energy has to convert from harmful to beneficial, this can take from hours to weeks to achieve. Also dependent upon the amount of new positive input into the formation(s).
• The Moon or Sun can also contribute to the energetic change, acting as a catalyst for the change, and also providing either male or female energetic input.

2-2. Flat recumbent stones attract female energy (moon), whilst pointed stones attract male energy (sun). We don’t yet know which elements of a site attract star or planetary energies, but we know they are present at sites, especially stone circles.

2-3. Kal found that certain geologically faulted locations with water running through them can pin energy to a place.

2-4. Ironwork and iconography (in the case of stones in Brittany I found that it was Christian crosses) can restrain the energy of a standing stone, reducing its aura (field of effect).

2-5. Earth energy spirals are created from sacred geometrical principles and number. Even manifestations created by us have the same properties. Of particular significance has been the discovery that stone circles are based upon sacred geometry in their design. For exmaple, Moel-Ty-Uchaf stone circle in North Wales is based upon a pentacle,or five-sided shape. I have found that this is linked to specific “deities”, but more importantly, that these deities are actually one of the planets. The pentacle therefore is associated with Venus, which itself describes a five-sided geometrical figure around the earth in its annual travel.

2-6. Power centres are the central point of two cones of energy- one going up into the air, the other going down into the ground. Also confirmed by Viktor Schauberger’s research.

2-7. Avenues or rows of standing stones have male and female energies intertwining, and travelling the length of the line of a stone rows of standing stones.

2-8. Tumuli can provide a terminus pointfor energy to sink back into the earth. As an example, I found this double mound pictured below was a terminus point for the energy running through the Kermario avenues of standing stones at Carnac in France.

2-9. Cup-marked stones often provide a rising point, a focal point or source of earth energies entering into sacred sites. Some standing stones that are cup-marked are a map of the energy power centres nearby.

2-10. “Hand spread” patterns of energy fields can be dowsed on the side of circles where energy is being dispersed out of the area. They indicate areas of high fertility energy.

I suggest this is similar to the geometirc patterns that many dowsers and researchers have discovered overlaying the British Isles, and some say, the whole of Earth (cf. John Michell)

2-12. “Martin”, “Margaret” and “Anne” are other synonyms for the male and female energy lines surrounding national leylines, as well as the better-known “Michael” and “Mary” energies. This year I traced what I call The St.Martin Line running from South-West England through France and into Italy.

These findings should be viewed in the context of the complementary section coming soon on our findings at Ancient Sites. I hope next year to concentrate on water dowsing, or rather, dowsing the energetic properties of water, sap and blood. Next in the series – Part 3 – I will be summarising our findings relating to tree energies, elemental spirits and death energy.

Technically we may have wandered across county borders, but essentially we were dealing with Shropshire circles this day – April 31st. One of the circles we wanted to visit was actually in Powys, but we don’t really care for county boundaries much. After all – they change shape with the seasons. Many lovely things lie in wait for the inquisitive traveller in Powys, but there’s a lot of ground to cover for that reward. I’m going to summarise this visit where possible to stop you all from yawning and drowning in the detail. There are, nevertheless, some interesting things to come out of this day’s visit to Kerry Hill circle, Mitchell’s Fold and The Hoarstones circle. Some interesting developments in our findings about the nature of nemeton field energy and our interactions with it.

We parked at a small official car park at the entrance to what seemed like a decimated conifer forest somewhere in Wales. That’s what the first ten minutes of walking entailed, walking past stacks of ripped, cut and shredded conifers stacked in neat bundles, ready for who-knows-what fate. Not a fun start. When we found the small circle in a field at the top of the hill overlooking the top of the valley though, we were in better spirits, and here’s what we found at Kerry Hill circle:-

• Twenty feet wide circle of small stones.
• Centre stone was a link point for neutral arcing energies from all stones except one.
• The one stone with no link was a female transformer stone. It transformed starlight energy mainly, with a little bit of moonlight.

• We traced the combined male and female energies around the stones and they formed a flowing path that circled all the stones.

Mitchell’s Fold

Mitchell’s Fold circle nestles in the arms of Corndon Hill, on a plateau between the hills and still above the surrounding valleys. I’m going to leave most of this to Kal, as he really enjoyed this site, and seemed to get the most out of it. We dowsed for what type of energies made up the site, and what its radiant source was, and found that the site was mainly male energy, obtained from starlight, but that the female transformer stone was also creating a male energy pattern around the site. This suited Kal snugly, whereas I did not get such a good connection with it, even though I enjoyed the atmosphere and feeling of the place. It was more suited to a sun-aligned energy worker like Kal.

Here’s what we found:-

• Instantly we liked it, as soon as it hove into view. We started at the King Stone. Kal dowse this, as I took an interest in the collection of stones that surrounded a small depression or hollow.
• The hollow, I thought, was a shelter where people visiting the stone circle would prepare for whatever energy work they were about to perform.
• The King Stone was full of male energy and linked to the main circle.

• My major revelation was to ask about the interwoven energies that surrounded the site, which we call its nemeton. I asked how many times I should follow the lines around the circle and got the answer of four.
• As I walked around dowsing each circular line it became more erratic. Each time around the sway from side to side got wider – the amplitude of the sinewy wave form got larger.
• When I dowsed the four lines again the final time around the spikes in the energy field were only two feet across the base, but each spike was five or six feet in length! This told me that my perambulations were having the effect of ‘stirring up’ the energies, making them more active.

This seemed like a breakthrough in understanding these energies. Interaction through perambulation caused an increase in the vibrancy of the site’s circular energy formations. That’s how it felt, if you were paying the right kind of non-attention to it.

• Kal’s meditations kept bringing out the sun. Another thing I noticed was that there seemed to be an endless number of crows around that day.
• My meditation was initially aimed at sending healing energy to my wife, but it wasn’t happening. I re-directed the energy I had accumulated to the birds that I could hear chirping gently in the Spring air. When I came to the noise level of one particular bird became so loud that it was funny, then he flew in front of us performing acrobatics until we smiled and grinned in appreciation.
• Met a couple of other people at the site and introduced ourselves. They were called Amanda and James, and wanted to try their hands at dowsing. She got a response, he wasn’t so convinced. Rapidly they both stop doing it – too freaked out? She confesses she has been up here before dancing with a strange group of people. Kal confesses something similar. I think they just want an excuse to dance with strangers.
• On to the Whetstones – a blasted and ruined collection of rocks in a vaguely circular formation only hundreds of yards away from the main site. Quickly we decide there’s nothing to be salvaged or gained from this site.

The Hoarstones

Again it was difficult to find. All we had was a printed OS map obtained from MultiMap, and Aubrey Burl’s scant directions. Still, if Burl had bothered to record it I supposed it was worth visiting. We wandered down a path alongside a wood to emerge into a fallow field. As we scanned you could see a clump of grass and gorse that signified an un-ploughed area, and we tromped towards it eagerly. When we got there we could easily spot the four feet high central stone, but most other stones were couched in marsh reeds or clumps of winter grass.

Here’s what else we found out:-

• Quickly identified our favourite stones – mine was a triangular flat stone about ten feet away from an iron spike that had been driven into the ground close to one side of the circle.

• Kal’s favourite stone in the circle was on the same side as mine, but as further ten feet away from mine.
• Having identified male and female power centres Kal started asking about black power centres and streams. He identified three places – the central stone, a stone in the far eastern side, and the stone next to the four feet tall iron spike.
• The white power centres we sat upon didn’t seem to have the usual empowering effects. We dowsed them to find that they were being counter-balanced by the negative black streams.
• The black streams, or sha energies, were being produced by the placement of the iron spike. We both have found that iron is counteractive to earth energies, causing them to re-direct, be cancelled, or change quality their qualities to mix with the neutral energy created by that metal. Neutral and male energy forms black streams, in our experience – energies of a harmful or disruptive vibrational frequency.

Kal and I worked at the site to re-balance the energies into a more harmonious relationship, and the end result that Kal dowsed proved to be very favourable. We felt quite calm and contented as we packed to leave. It felt like a great day’s work all round, and we hadn’t had to rip any spikes out with our teeth!
