The Wand Maker

Interesting…since my last visit to Alderley Edge and my experience regarding creating a wand, it (the wand making) has been on my mind, almost constantly. To be honest it has been getting annoying – because it has been distracting me from other activities that I am keen on pursuing.

Full Moon

Dowsing rods are useful for exploration of ideas and other musings that pop along the intuitive tract. And this week has been full of them. Fortunately, I have been taking note of these intuitive interruptions and have garnered a list of, hmmm, I don’t know what to call it - knacks maybe?

For instance one particular one that came to me whilst walking along the beach this last week was…

Taking water from the middle (not depth-wise) of the pacific ocean in some test-tube and boiling the water away until only the salt remains. Placing this salt within a glass ampule and then placing this ampule within the core of the wand.

Although this particular knack will not be utilised in my first wand creation I found it an interesting side thought.

Anyways I am writing this post more to point out that tonight’s near full moon was so bright and spectacular that I just had to wander out into the night for some exploration and since my mind has been pre-occupied with wands and wand making I decided to meditate further on this particular ‘venture’ and what a surprising set of results were garnered.

Curious? Alas you’re going to have to wait a bit because this is blooming into a bigger project than I could ever have imagined. So for a list of:

  • Skills that I need to learn
  • Knowledge that I have to acquire
  • Intuitive journeys that I’m going to have to go on

You are going to have to wait a bit and look in a new place that I am creating for this project…

Would it surprise you to learn that the domain name www.TheWandMaker.comis actually available to buy? I was absolutely convinced that it would be – tonight’s full moon energies combined with intuitive dowsing ascertained that.

It’s not up yet – but please watch out for The Wand Maker at the above address as I learn the art and intuitive skills used in creating my wand and…

Samhain for Hedge Druids: the retreat of the male energies

Sam Hill – it’s nearly Samhain!

The original Celtic New Year begins on the night of the Full Moon closest to October 31st and November 1st. This year that will be Monday 2nd November. It is the time when the Summer was overcome by the Winter – often played out as the Solar Hero being overcome by a Dark Knight (see Mummer Plays).

This time sees the beginning of the Dark Half of the Year – a festival honouring the dead, and importantly forming a link between the energies of those who have been before us, and those of us here now. Samhain is a gateway between the worlds of the Otherworld and the Middle Earth, and becomes passable by the denizens of either world – the “veil becomes thin” as some describe it. It is therefore an opportunity to commune or communicate with forces in a much stronger and clearer way that at other times.

There is lots of miscellaneous information about various customs relating to this time of year, old and new, to be found here.

Playing with Fire

Samhain is a Celtic fire festival, so inevitably one should look for a sacred site or grove that will enable you to have a fire without causing a disturbance, if you plan to celebrate it in style. Leave the fireworks for the sham that is “Guy Fawkes Night” though!

This being a fire festival means an opportunity to obtain the co-operation of a fire spirit if you do not already have such a relationship. This will promote change in your life and ways, so you need to know if this is what you want, or make adequate protection against inadvertant change being wrought through your life by a rampant fire spirit!

Samhain is a time of feasting on the profits of the year – whether that be literal feasting on food, or consuming the fruits of our labours and learnings over the profitable summer months. It is a time to gather in the rewards of your experiences, reflect upon them, and begin the process of working them into your life over the Winter months to come, ready for the next Spring.

Energetically we see the male earth energies, and those living energies produced by the trees, begin to retreat back into the earth, their influence waning. The celebration of the rising female energy influence is encapsulated in the celebration’s coincidence with the full moon.

You’re My Venus

Astrologically, Venus is appearing in the mornings. Jupiter and Mars are also in attendance over Samhain. Other major planets such as Mercury and Saturn have significantly disappeared from the northern hemisphere just before Samhain.

I’m looking forward to visiting a sacred site that is out of the way, and which is associated with Venus and the sacred number five. Last year none of that would have made any sense – this year I have learned that such specifics will mean that I am at a site that is energetically at its peak, and full of magical possibilities for me.

Enjoy your Samhain celebrations, whatever you do!

Moon energy for The Loonies

The subject in hand: moon energies affecting dowsing reaction, I have a number of things that I want to add to this based upon recent experience. There are a number of factors that seem relevant to the extent of the influence:-

a) The proximity of the moon (apogee – perigee), or, how close it is to the earth.

Proximity, coupled with the skew of the beam of reflected energy delivered by the moon, will both affect the strength of the moon’s radiant energy.

b) The Moon is reflecting energy with a female quality to it

Traditionally, and in all the dowsing that I have done so far relating to this, the energy from the moon registers as ‘female’. We need to consider if this is merely a human-centred approach to categorising its qualities, or whether there truly is a correspondence between our human concept of the feminine and the way that the moon’s rays affect females. Whether or not that is true, the rods dowse radiant moon energy as female in nature for me.

c) Your reaction to female energies

If you have ever dowsed yourself, or had someone dowse you, or if you have taken the time to acquaint yourself with how you react to the sun and the moon, then you may discover that you have a particular orientation, regardless of which human sex you are. For example, I am a male who has positive reactions to female energy, and finds this form easier to find and to work with. Nature or nurture I don’t really care. The point is that I know this about myself, and that makes it easier for me to dowse female moon energies. I feel energised around the time of a full moon. No, I don’t grow more hair. Just in case you were thinking it. And now you are.

If you react well to female energies (they don’t drain you, or give you headaches, for example) then you may find that you can find female energy forms more easily when the moon is strong (traditionally at Full Moon and New Moon). I have a tide chart on my wall, and in conjunction with observing the phase of the moon I can have some idea of the likely relative strengths of the female energies around.

Take your pick!

Take your pick!

Qualities such as the strength of the line, and it’s width, will increase in proportion to the combination of the proximity and phase of the moon, and your ability to dowse and work with that energy will follow that rise and fall too. Those well attuned to it will get great success dowsing at such times. Those for whom it is anathema (the solar-oriented folk, who like basking in sunshine, and walk around in shorts in December) are going to feel a bit crap and crazy around those times, and you should get more light. Use mirrors. Office fluorescent lighting doesn’t count.

Any sense to anyone? Or babbling? Loony?
