Well, I see that Kal got his summary out first. Still, “if you can’t beat them…”

Generally, what type of year it has been? Dis-jointed, slower than last year’s breakneck speed, measured, with lots of deep synchronicities. When I come to review the year I realise that I still made lots of progress on the various tasks that I was lead to perform in order to progress along my path of Druidry.

Below are the main topics that I have picked out from this year’s blog posts. I have tried to keep the explanations to a minimum, so have included links back to the original postings if you want the detail for each of the topics. What I thought was a quiet year has actually turned out to be incredibly packed and busy. The topics are in no order whatsoever, which kind of fits with the way that the year’s learning has come about – seemingly haphazard, but all threading into and through itself like some kind of cat’s cradle whose overall pattern will only be known when the final moves have played out.

26 topics I have been involved in this year:-

a) Healing – Most of the year has been spent developing healing skills, whether that was using remote energies, balancing the chakras, healing with the hands, or with crystals. I have realised that I am more attuned to healing places than people currently, but that is changing. The healing energies can be attuned to different colours for particular effects. To work with these energies I need to understand which “colour” is missing from a site and then call upon the energies of the local living entities to gather together to create this missing colour and thus heal the site. [related posts: My Five Healing Rays, Healing Rays Explained]

Also, in conjunction with my friend Mike, we created a new healing centre at The Bridestones in Cheshire. [related posts: A New Healing Centre]

Chakra colours, energy frequencies and healing may be linked

b) Re-discovering the bard - Discovered great new music (and that I like the new forms of folk music) at The Green Man Festival, and saw Roy Harper in concert in London. This year music has really connected with my heart and stirred great emotions. I have written more poetry this year than in other years too. [related posts: Green Man Festival, Roy Harper]

c) Astrological links to Venus, Orion’s Belt and Sirius affirmed at almost every site. Also Scorpius, astrological links to Arthur and the Great Bear constellation. The constellations of Serpens, Corvus and Perseus have been especially meaningful to me this year, guiding me along a very meaningful path from one end of an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. This is often confused with Alfred Watkins’ concept of the Ley Line. Strictly speaking a ley line does not necessarily mean a neutral energy line, only a sight alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. Some people have their energy fields empowered by the direct subtle energy force of The Sun, whilst others are empowered by the indirect subtle energy of The Moon.

Due to the historical associations and symbolisation of The Sun with masculinity and The Moon with femininity we designate these alignments as either being ‘male’ or ‘female’ alignments accordingly. We interchangeable refer to people as being ‘sun-aligned’ or ‘male-aligned’ and similarly with the female alignment. between notable places, whereas an energy ley is like a radial spoke in a wheel, with energy flowing outwards across the land in a straight line. It has sometimes been found that the energy ley can be diverted from its strict straight path by changes in the landscape or strong attractors that pull it away from its original course.

Energy leys may have inter-twining streams of male and female energies weaving along them, as though the energy ley is an attractor, a pathway or a conduit for the male and female energies. to another.

d) Viewing figures - The blog started the year at 100,000 views, and by now that figure has risen to over 216,000. We have seen a 66% increase in readership this year! [related posts: 100,000 views this year]

e) Moving into the Druid stage – This year has seen me begin to get the knowledge I have gained out into the world to share with others. I have done presentations and courses, and taken a more overt local political stance on issues such as the selling off of the local woodlands and by clearing up litter. [related posts: Small Circle and Big Revelation, Understanding Megalithic Sites presentation]

f) Book writing – Possibly the one dismal failure of the year! I cannot seem to dedicate sufficient time and energy towards writing a book. I still feel I don’t know enough yet to make the book as good as I would want it to be.

g) Orbs - The debate seems to be that either ’orbs’ might be entities, or they’re reflections of airborne debris that are reflecting via the camera’s flash (‘lens flare’). This year I have been excited about seeing them at significant place, but I know that they are only produced when the camera’s flash is on, thus making them a definite product of artificial light reflection. I now wonder whether the flash is required in order to make the orbs register on the lens. I am still intrigued that I am ‘called’ to take a photo of certain places, and that the orbs appear only in those specific places. [related posts: Just can't dismiss them, Winter Solstice celebrations at Nine Ladies]

Light at the end of the tunnel for trapped shades

h) Spirit release at churches. In conjunction with my friend Mike we have worked together to discover and release spirit entities whose presence has been adversely affecting the locations that they have inhabited. With every experience we have got more experience, and we feel more confident about our work. [related posts: Spirit Release en masse, Buried Alive, The Sorrowful Widow]

i) Ancestor energiesA term I have used to describe the subtle energy imprints left at a particular place of power (a power centre, perhaps) by our ancestors - those family connections from whom we are descended and have a genetic link to. – Beginning this year at Vale Crucis Abbey in Llangollen I have found a link to my ancestors’ energies. Later in the year I was told by the spirit of my grandfather that it would be beneficial for me to discover and recover those energies. This seems a very shamanic process, and it intrigues me. [related posts: The Healing Helper, A Grandfather's Message]

j) Chakras and sonics – finding the five chakras that are meaningful and useful for me, and how to activate them using vocal sounds [related posts: Vowels and Chakras]

k) Experimenting with magnetism and its effects on subtle energyA form of energy that has so far eluded scientific definition. It is neither electric, magenetic, nor electro-magnetic, so far as our current technical equipment can measure. It does, however, exhibit many of the characteristics of magnetism and electricity in terms of its effects and properties. It may be a form of either or both of those energies that we have not yet identified.. Discovered that magnetism strongly affects the direction and quality of subtle energyA form of energy that has so far eluded scientific definition. It is neither electric, magenetic, nor electro-magnetic, so far as our current technical equipment can measure. It does, however, exhibit many of the characteristics of magnetism and electricity in terms of its effects and properties. It may be a form of either or both of those energies that we have not yet identified.. This implies that electro-magnetic emissions from various sources would also affect subtle energyA form of energy that has so far eluded scientific definition.
l) The importance of the double helix form - From Castlerigg stone circle and the Serpens constellation to Arthur’s Grave in Pembrokeshire the double helix formation has been prevalent this year. For me it symbolises the union of the red and white (female and male) subtle energies. Of course, the formation is also to be found in the structure of human DNA. I found that I was in some way affecting my own DNA using subtle energies when I was at a particular sacred site when a specific star’s energy was available in the sky.
m) Tracing the great North-South ley lineThe term used by many British dowsers to describe an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. Due to the historical associations and symbolisation of The Sun with masculinity and The Moon with femininity we designate these alignments as either being ‘male’ or ‘female’ alignments accordingly. Energy leys may have inter-twining streams of male and female energies weaving along them, as though the energy ley is an attractor, a pathway or a conduit for the male and female energies.. It is easily confused with ley and therefore its use is not recommended by dowsers. from Arbor Low to Christchurch. This was part of my work to discover whether the energy leys that Kal and I had dowsed at Arbor Low were real, and if so how far they travelled. I found that there was a strong case for an energy formation travelling in a straight line due North-South from Arbor Low and terminating at Christchurch in Dorset. On a similar tack I traced an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. This is often confused with Alfred Watkins’ concept of the Ley Line. Strictly speaking a ley line does not necessarily mean a neutral energy line, only a sight alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another.
n) Dealing with ghosts, shades, psychic attacks and dark energies. This year has seen a move from relative skepticism to near conviction about the existence of sentient invisible entities. I have had dealings with remnant human energies and non-human entities whose energy forms I can only dream of. These entities have manifested themselves in my consciousness as thoughts distinct from anything I recognise as my own, but more tellingly they have manifested as physically-felt symptoms such as visible movements, light forms, feelings of pressure and movement, and even as far as nausea or cranial tension in their presence. These can always be explained away as something else using complex and tenuous explanations, but the simplest explanation is that such entities exist. [related posts: Bamburgh Castle ghost, Vampire Shades, Ghosts,Shades and Spirits, Hexham and the Psychic Attack]

Psychic attacks cause sleep disruption

o) Re-Connecting with my elementals - this year saw very little interaction with the Elementals, yet it was important for me to “check in” with them, and reconnect in order to maintain the relationship I had established with these Nature Spirit forces. This involved me choosing the right crystals to work with them as well (e.g. work at Ennerdale Water and at The Rollrights) [related posts: Juggling with Water Spirits, Receiving the Elements at The Rollrights]

p) The blooming flower. During the Spring Equinox in Cumbria I was given the image of the flower unfurling. At the time I took this to mean that I needed to work on obtaining the ability to grow plants better, but it was subsequently pointed out to me that it could signify my own blossoming spiritual progress. I think the latter explanation turned out to be the correct one. [related posts: Water Spirit of the River Esk]

q) The Hawk of May – this year I met with and gained the assistance of two new spirit forms. One appears in the form of a hawk and appears whenever I am on the correct path to spiritual progress. The other is a Celtic healer who is guiding me through the process of learning healing of the landscape and now the healing of people too. The discovery of The Hawk in the Landscape – a landscape figure that became a reality for me when I traced it over a map of Cheshire was one of the more interesting finds of the year, especially as I had dismissed the Glastonbury Zodiac landscape figures as having no use for me. I have now had to re-evaluate the concept and realised that the landscape figures are only meaningful to the person who makes them appear, and who quests to find them. [related posts: Remote Dreaming at Lud's Church, Meeting the Hawk of May, Cheshire Hawk Landscape Figure, Hunting the Hawk of May, The Yew Tree Speaks, Connection With The Hawk]

r) Arthur – instead of Merlin (so last year!). What are the differences between these archetypes? Merlin is a symbol of taking on magickal power. Arthur is a symbol of taking on responsibility and leadership skills. This year I have been primarily involved in taking responsibility for my work, and in turning my work outwards to face the public instead of working within myself. [related posts: Arthur's Seat, Berth to Death, The Samson Stone, Arthur's Stone, Camelot, The Tor and the Healing Thorn, The DNA Chamber, Arthurian Archetypes]

s) Animal totems for this year – Hawk, fox, seagull and badger. Each has been a guide along my path this year, showing me the way at various times.
u) Understanding the way that standing stones work with ley lines to split them out into male and female energy forms. The male is then directed towards a particular site that requires male energy such as a hill, fort, or some other male feature.
v) Caves and hobgoblins – Finding that a cave shapes the aura and condense the information held within the aura such that it is more easily absorbed and retained. I also found that there are deep earth energy spirits in some caves that can be appeased by feeding them!
w) Green Man Festival and its links with The Rose Line from Edinburgh. This needs further investigation to definitively prove its existence energetically. There are clear historical links, but I want to find out to what degree the energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. The festival is right on the line, and I intend to go back to the festival next year to dowse the line’s influence in the festival, or vice versa.
Summary

Looking back, even though the year has felt dis-jointed and slower than usual, I have actually done an amazing amount of work and have progressed far further than I had imagined. Looking forward to next year now with renewed vigour! I have had several messages from different sources who are all anticipating that my work with healing sites and people will be called into use in 2012. Of course, if that happens, then I will be blogging it all for you to read.

Thank you all for spending your precious time with us this year. We look forward to another intriguing year of learning, living and loving.

Even though Kal and I had gone to Lud’s Church for Lughnasagh (Lammas) I wanted to do something of my own, so I took some time off work to go on a little outing of my own. The dowsing rods had indicated that the best place to visit would be Anglesey, and so I sought out some sites that were of interest to me given the moon’s phase, the nature of the festival day, and my preference for wanting to know more about standing stones.

Thus, I chose to visit three sites along the A5025 which courses through Anglesey’s eastern side. I have seen many of the sites along the coastal regions all around the island of the Druids, but this road was a little further inland, so it was new territory for me. The weather was cloudy with occasional showers, but I was not going to be put off. I had work to do!

1. Ty Gwyn standing stone (Megalithic)

Standing on a small hill above a number of car salesrooms this standing stone is easy to find, and relatively easy to access (if you don’t mind hopping over gates). The stone stands proudly on the crest of the hill and the hill provides stunning views of other hills around, and across the Menai Straits to Snowdonia. The stone is shaped in the classic fashion – a wide flattened shape with one relatively pointed edge and the other side a more rounded edge.

Upon dowsing I found that there was male energy emerging from the pointed flat edge of the stone, and directed due eastwards towards the next standing stone at Llandegfan called Pen-Y-Maen. I put down the dowsing rods and stood in the flow of this male energy. With my hand I could feel the strong stream of subtle energyA form of energy that has so far eluded scientific definition. It is neither electric, magenetic, nor electro-magnetic, so far as our current technical equipment can measure. It does, however, exhibit many of the characteristics of magnetism and electricity in terms of its effects and properties. It may be a form of either or both of those energies that we have not yet identified. flowing out of this sharp edge. Male energy and I are not very compatible so it was only a few moments of standing in this flow of energy before my head began to tighten, which is the prelude to me getting a headache. I stepped out of the flow and the tightening eased off immediately.

Llandegfan energy ley line

I found that the male energy was emerging from the geology beneath the stone. The stone had been positioned on this point because it was a natural weak point where male earth energy emerged. It was also the point where this weakness intersected a neutral ley lineThe term used by many British dowsers to describe an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. This is often confused with Alfred Watkins’ concept of the Ley Line. Energy leys may have inter-twining streams of male and female energies weaving along them, as though the energy ley is an attractor, a pathway or a conduit for the male and female energies.. It is easily confused with ley and therefore its use is not recommended by dowsers.. Putting a stone of this shape at this point, broadside on to the neutral ley, meant that the male earth energy would rise into the stone and be directed to the narrowest point of the stone. This point was angled towards where the male energy was intended to go.

I don’t yet know why this male energy is important in the wider sense, except that male clockwise-spiralling energy has the properties of invigoration and motivation. On a map, if the line is extended eastwards it joins with hut circles and settlements on the North Wales coast at Llanfairfechan and atop the Penmaenmawr hills. Continued further it ends up at St.Asaph. Interesting, but inconclusive of any kind of theory about the usefulness or purpose of this male energy at the moment.

The Ty-Gwyn standing stone overlooks car showrooms

The next unusual finding was related to a patch of flattened grass. There were cows in the field so it was a fairly safe assumption that the cows were responsible for the flattened patch that was concentrated neatly around the sharp point of the stone. It would seem, then, that the female cattle were quite content, nay preferred, to deposit themselves for periods of time at the place where the male energy was emerging from this stone. Obviously, this would not have provided them any shelter at all! So, it may be an indicator that cows like male earth energy?

Cows seem to enjoy the energy output from this stone

2. Llanddyfnan standing stone (Megalithic) [Map]

A few miles further down the road from the previous stone was the much-easier-to-spot stone of Llanddyfnan. In fact, if you’re driving from Pentraeth to Talwryn (a common route for everyone, surely?) then you can’t really miss the stone. It is in a field right next to the road and next to a farm. With it being early in the morning I didn’t want to disturb the farmer with my request to visit, so I simply hopped over for a quick peek and a quick dowse. The only curious onlookers were the herd of bulls in the field adjacent, who again showed an amazing level of interest in what I was doing. Cattle and dowsing!

When I dowsed I found many of the same properties as the previous stone:-

Male energy emerging from the “cutting’ edge of the flat stone

Stone positioned to be broadside on to a ley lineThe term used by many British dowsers to describe an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres.
The male energy was being sent off in a westward direction, following the angle of the stone’s thinnest edge.

Another male energy generating stone side on to a neutral ley

So, some corroborative evidence concerning the nature of standing stones and their orientation. It seems that stones are either chosen for their angular qualities, or were shaped accordingly so that there was one thinner edge and a broad side to the stone. The purpose of this seems to have been to mutate, or harness the existing earth energies by placing the stone on a spot of weak geology where earth energies are being emitted from under the ground. The spot was also chosen because it coincides with the path of a neutral energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres.
That being established, I moved on to deal with a more druidic aspect of my work – to seek knowledge through meditation at a sacred site. I chose a dolmen near to a place called Benllech further down the A5025. I will tell you about this episode next time.

Have I whet your appetite? Great, then read on!

Sometimes life throws an opportunity your way and you just have to go with it. Such a chance came to me when work decided that I needed to be trained up and to do that I would be sent to Paris in May for a week. Well, what can one say to a chance like that? Yes, of course! I had just bought Chris Hardy‘s book “The Sacred Network” and been marvelling at the many pages about Paris’ ley lines. Here I was being given the opportunity to go test them for myself, first-hand.

Chris Hardy refers to two main lines in Paris which she calls the West and East Decumanus lines. I drew myself a pair of lines on Google Maps from her rough indicator points, and then I could refer to that later. There are plenty of other leys referenced, but these are the main ones that cross so many of central Paris’ main attractions, for example – the Champs Elysses, the Arc de Triomphe, La Defense, The Louvre to name but a small selection. What I wondered was, are these lines natural ley lines, or created by humans? Secondly I wanted to know whether they had any energy associated with them? That was all I was looking for. Time would be short, and dowsing in a city always has the possibility of attracting unwanted and often unshakeable attention, so it would have to be swift and to the point.

Luxor Obelisk with full moon

How to find your way in a city

From what I can gather from reading Hardy’s book most of the main leys of Paris seem to be centered on the Luxor obelisk (or ‘Obelisk of Ramases‘). I decided that this would be my starting point for an exploration of which leys were which, and which were important for me to dowse. The very evening that I had goot clear to do this investigation work Kal sent me a long text epxplaining how he had found the Genius LociGenius Loci means 'spirit of the place' and refers to the geological/gaian spirit of place. It is transfixed to a place – being an embodiment of the collective intelligence of the place. for Central Park in New York, and that it was found at….an Egyptian obelisk (see Kal’s Dowsing in the City post).

There was nothing else for it – now it was confirmed. I didn’t know Paris or yet have a good handle on the underground train system, so I decided to walk to the obelisk. The only problem was… I had no idea where it was! I decided to trust to fate and began to walk down whatever street took my fancy, so long as it looked like it was heading towards the Seine River, which I figured would identify the centre of Paris. It was a foolhardy and naive assumption considering the length of the Seine, but I wanted to see what happened.

I walked for over an hour down beautiful Parisian boulevards and side streets, “feeling” for the right decisions to make at every junction that would take me towards the obelisk. Soon I was hopelessly lost and knew I would have to come back on the train even if I did end up near the centre eventually. I was just complaining to msyelf about how much my feet were acheing when I noticed that I was walking past a very posh hotel. I looked up and saw an armed gendarme at the end of the street and made a note to give him a wide berth. I stepped past him and out onto the Place de la Concorde with its incredibly wide roads and open space. Right in fromt of me was…the Luxor Obelisk! I reeled in amazement and must have looked drunk for a minute as I staggered physically trying to recover my senses and shaking my head in disbelief.

Up the junction

It was true. The Obelisk was indeed a crossing point for leys. My dowsing revealed only two leys crossing here that I needed to concern myself with. Here is a perfect description of the major cardinal directions of the leys that cross here:

“The major axis is that of the Voie Triomphale (Triumphal Way) which extends east-to-west in a perfectly straight line from the former royal palace (now the Louvre Museum), past the Arc du Carrousel and through the Tuileries Gardens, up the Champs-Elysées to the Arc de Triomphe, and beyond — now culminating at the Grande Arche in the Paris suburb of La Défense. The second (minor) axis is formed by the line between Place de la Madeleine, down rue Royale through the square and across the Pont de la Concorde, culminating at the Palais Bourbon.” (source: DiscoverFrance.net)

Each of the axes described above is a ley lineThe term used by many British dowsers to describe an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres.

Energy leys may have inter-twining streams of male and female energies weaving along them, as though the energy ley is an attractor, a pathway or a conduit for the male and female energies.. It is easily confused with ley and therefore its use is not recommended by dowsers.. The East-West line from the Louvre to the Arc de Triomphe is a natural meridian. It has been marked by arhitecture, possibly even enhanced by it, but it is a natural energy phenomenon that forms part of the Earth’s own energy grid. The other line, running between the Palais Bourbon and the Madeleine Temple has been created by humans. It has been artificially created to flow between these points and beyond. I don’t know if it has been generated or simply diverted from elsewhere, but its source is not natural, that’s for sure. Interestingly it runs down the Royal Road. Always a link between power, royalty, rule and energy – don’t you think?

The leys were were I suspected they would be – along roughly cardinal axes centred upon the Obelisk. So, there was one human ley (sight alignments along a straight line with structures that increase subtle energyA form of energy that has so far eluded scientific definition. It is neither electric, magenetic, nor electro-magnetic, so far as our current technical equipment can measure. It does, however, exhibit many of the characteristics of magnetism and electricity in terms of its effects and properties. It may be a form of either or both of those energies that we have not yet identified. power) and one natural ley (a series of linear sites that reflect an earth meridian, a power line of the earth’s own energy grid, possibly something linked to its magnetic field or its subtle energyA form of energy that has so far eluded scientific definition.
Up the garden path

Jardin Tuileries and the Louvre

On another evening I returned to the nearby gardens. I walked through a throng of people congregating around a circular fountain that interrupted the wide path into the park. I rejoined the path on the other side and the throng diminished to a steady flow of couples and joggers. In their midst, wrapped up as they were in their own worlds, I felt less intimidated, so out came the dowsing rods. I immediately drew a few stares but I have learned to ignore stares unless I draw a crowd. Happily people were enjoying the sun too much to pester me. Let’s get some dowsing done!

I walked in the direction of the feeling until I ended up at the base of one of the trees at the side of the main path. I sat there resting my weary legs for a moment and went into meditative mode. As I sat my hand moved and my eyes followed my hand – there only inches from my fingers was a strangely carved or shaped stone that is quite hand worn! Of course, I picked it up and the ‘feeling’ went away. This was what I had been led to. More moving stones!! Then my phone rang just as I was examining the stone. More odd coincidence. After talking to M for a minute I was then being moved on by a park warden because the park was closing. I had managed to get in with JUST enough time to find this stone. What an incredible coincidence! This stone would become useful when I got back when I would dowse that I should use it at Arthur’s Grave in Pembrokeshire.

The Splitting of the Louvre Ley

I walked through the Louvre gardens, manicured hedges that almost form a maze had they been taller. From above they must look stunning, and from eye-level the scene of people sprawled all over the surrounding grass verges and green areas was lovely. The air was warm and balmy. I could carry on dowsing even though the sun was setting. Actually, I thought, why not try to get some pictures of the sun setting through the alignments along the path I had just walked through the gardens? I seemed to take a lot of pictures around the Arc de Triomphe de Carrousel, which is the more famous Arch’s smaller sibling. No less impressive, but much smaller.

Arce de Triomphe de Carrousel

I began to hook into the ley lineThe term used by many British dowsers to describe an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. Energy leys may have inter-twining streams of male and female energies weaving along them, as though the energy ley is an attractor, a pathway or a conduit for the male and female energies.. Unusually for a ley lineThe term used by many British dowsers to describe an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. I followed it across the busy road that runs around the roundabout, and then it straightened up into a straight line again but now angled in towards the Louvre Pyramid! What was going on, I wondered? Had I made a mistake? I went to the other side of the huge paved entrance area and search for anything on the opposite side. Soon I found another angled line which again converged on the great glass pyramid. What? What was this? I decided to follow it back to see if it also went to the Arch. It did. So, I had a line that split at the Arch and then curved around the roundabout, only to become a straight line that converged at the Louvre’s entrance. Most odd!

The glass pyramid in front of the Louvre in relation to the Arc de Triomphe de Carrousel

What was the cause of the splitting line, I wondered.Coming into the Arch it was perfectly whole and strong. How did it come to split? I asked the rods to take me to the exact point where the line split. The dowsing rods took me to two places. The front pillars on each side of the arch. Now I had to find out why this was significant. Using Kals’ method I asked the rods to take me to somethign that would explain the reason for the splitting of the subtle energyA form of energy that has so far eluded scientific definition. It is neither electric, magenetic, nor electro-magnetic, so far as our current technical equipment can measure. It does, however, exhibit many of the characteristics of magnetism and electricity in terms of its effects and properties. It may be a form of either or both of those energies that we have not yet identified. line. They took me back to the pillars, but as I began to dowse in more detail I could see that the rods were circling around seemingly INSIDE the pillar. They wanted to indicate that the centre of the splitting force was actually embedded either into or under the two pillars.

This was good information but I was really curious now! I asked whether there was anything else that would explain to me how this split had been achieved. The rods swung around and led me to an information plaque on one side of the arch. I read about the various restorations of the arch, how statues were given back and new ones installed, and how the arch was generally refurbished. Suddenly it hit me - during one of the restorations something had been put under the pillars. Was I correct? The rods swung strongly together to indicate a definite YES response. Ok…now we were on the trail. Through educated guessing and dowsing the responses I eventually worked out that some form of quartz crystals – a very unusual form – had been buried under the pillars in the restoration of 1830. The effect of the crystal is to split the ley at this point. If true, this must have been a very deliberate act by someone who really understood energy flows.

I left that question hanging. There was another mystery to be tackled. How was the pyramid recombining the flow?

The Constructions of Monsieur Mitterand

Francois Mitterand was president of France between the years 1981 and 1995. He is reputed to have been a Freemason, and given his position he was probably a member of several other orders who some believe have retained and preserved an ancient knowledge of subtle energies, forces and magick over a long period of time. Conspiracy theories aside, it was Mitterand who set about creating some of Paris’ modern architectural splendours, and who sites them at some very significant positions around the city. For example, let’s take the geometry and position of the Louvre’s glass pyramids. Yes, pyramids – plural – for there are two – the above ground one and an inverted one inside that is below it, forming a kind of tetrahedron, so I’m told. I only saw the outside one, and that was impressive enough.

I found that the ley lineThe term used by many British dowsers to describe an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. It is easily confused with ley and therefore its use is not recommended by dowsers. coming out of the smaller Arc de Triomphe is made to curve by the crystals buried beneath its pillars. So, why then did I find that the leys begin to straighten and re converge after that? This is where the geometry and positioning of the Louvre’s glass pyramids comes in. It is the geometry of this structure that forces the line to go straight again. It is the power of the pyramidal form that attracts the line to a point again – just as the pyramid itself goes to a point. Interesting, huh? I wonder where else in the world this kind of geometry has been used to perform this kind of energetic manoeuvring?

The ley does naturally recombine at some point beyond the Louvre, but the installation of the glass pyramid in recent times had the effect of focusing the ley to recombine at the pyramid instead of beyond it. This means that the ley’s energies are focused on the area at the entrance to the Louvre. One wonders why?

Perhaps Philip Coppens has the answer. His recent article about Francois Mitterand‘s arhitectural legacy points to the constructed ley lineThe term used by many British dowsers to describe an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres.

“A lot has been made about the Glass Pyramid of the Louvre, if only because of its prominent inclusion in Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code”. Brown adjusted the number of glass panels to 666, to imbed even more symbolism into this structure. But what is often overlooked, is that to create this structure, some of the old – and beautiful – paving stones of the “Court Napoleon” had to be removed, to make room for the pyramid. These paving stones were carefully dug up, and transferred to Cergy-Pontoise, where they are now positioned in a semi-circle, an official part of the “Axe Majeur”. Coincidence? Or design?

It is not the only Louvre connection. Perhaps the axis’ signature feature is the twelve columns, which have the same dimensions as those of the arch of the Carrousel of the Louvre.” (source: PhilipCoppens.com)

You can see that my Paris trip turned out to be a whole sight more interesting than a mere sightseeing tour! All thanks to those wonderful copper rods and a bit of intuitive investigation. How I love this dowsing life!

Imbolc – 29th January, 2011 – Yorkshire

It had been a long time coming. Kal and I had intended to go to Lindisfarne in Northumberland for Imbolc, and in fact I had stated as much in the previous podcast for January, but when I worked out how much of the short day I would be spending in the car…well, we turned our attentions to one of our other focal areas for this year – Yorkshire. Now, I’m a Yorkshire lad, born in the county but having moved after only a few years there. I don’t remember anything about it, so whilst it felt like a homecoming of sorts, it didn’t feel like my spiritual home, which is Wales.

The had an itinerary of sites to visit which Kal had dowsed, and then I had added to and plotted the most efficient journey between them. Seemed like a perfect combination, although asking Kal to navigate is like asking Norman Wisdom to be your wedding planner – comic moments were bound to arise!

Shipley is not the most picturesque town in northern England. I’m sure it has some redeeming features but we felt, as we stepped out of the car, that we ought to get our dowsing done as quietly as possible and as soon as possible. Kal deferred to me to do that job – thanks Kal! Using a single dowsing rod I asked whether there was a ley lineThe term used by many British dowsers to describe an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. I asked to be shown to where it was, and to get directions at each junction. As we walked towards the junction of each road I got the dowsing rod out and it quickly swung to show me which way I should walk. Left, then right, the slightly left, then left again, right…now we were walking down a back street with very few people around. Better for dowsing than the main market square which was thronging with Saturday shoppers. Just as we were wondering what on earth there could be to see down this back alley we arrived at the Hockney pub and the rod took me right up to the door and spun around – a sign that we were at a conclusion point.

I got out my iPhone compass application and set it to magnetic North in the settings. I ahd to wait a while because the compass had interference again. Every time I come to use a compass in an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. Proof enough for me. Here was the final test – I asked the dowsing rods whether this line was the same line that existed at Arbor Low – YES. Strongly affirmed.

We followed the line back towards the centre of Shipley town now that we had an orientation to follow. As we approached the market area we came across a couple of surprises. We saw how the line went through a statue of a ram sitting upright. In heraldic terms this silver ram denotes peace and authority. This statue was dedicated to the memory of Princess Diana, which seemed odd for it to be on an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. Energy leys may have inter-twining streams of male and female energies weaving along them, as though the energy ley is an attractor, a pathway or a conduit for the male and female energies.. This is reminiscent of things that David Icke talks about in terms of the memorial that was placed on top of the Pont D’Alma bridge under which the ill-fated Mercedes car crashed on the night she died. There is a theory that energy leys form a network of channels along which both good and ill energy can be spread. Hamish Miller, the legendary dowser, had a keen interest in this aspect and would work with a group of like-minded friends to attempt to restore these lines to have beneficial properties.I say “restore” because I believe that at one time this is how they were charged – with positive energies.

From that point the energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. Notice the intertwining red and black serpent shapes. I find it interesting that this coincidental pattern is at the exact spot where the energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. Perhaps the spot was chosen because it “felt right” or it was the symbolic centre of the town. Either way – it is a rapid way to identify the ley’s crossing point now. We should have walked the labyrinth, but it didn’t occur to us at the time – we were more interested in sandwiches, if I recall! A wonderful opportunity presented but missed, I feel.

2. St Helen’s Well in Eshton, near Gargrave, Skipton – for cleansing and connection to the spirit of the divine feminine. [Map / Megalithic Portal link]

As we arrived in Eshton village near Gargrave we felt the warmth of the sun. The sun was shining all around making the area light and welcoming – a good start. We looked around for possible locations that the spring might be. Looking back at it now it should have been obvious to us that the spring that we had intended to find was the one at the far end of the field through which the Eshton Beck ran, and where a small footbridge had been built. Later on we would see people walking back from that very area, but by then we had found what we came for anyway.

From the very start let’s get one thing clear: St Helen is nothing other than Elen of the Roads. Elen is the lady of the green bower who shows seekers the invisible paths that connect the land. You could call her the patron saint of dowsers, but as a pagan that would be a strange moniker to afflict her with. St Helen is certainly not named after St Helena of Constantinople – for that would be very strange indeed.

We located what we thought was the well on the other side of a mossy wall near to the road bridge. We clambered over into the small woodland patch and everything felt great. The spring was bubbling with clear water, and streaming down the shallow hill to reach into the nearby Eshton Beck, surely soon to be renamed the Eshton River, for it is surely becoming too big for its boots! In the dappled sunlight through the trees we dowsed as to whether this was the correct place to be – both of us got a strong YES. With that we began to meditate – first lighting incense to prepare our spaces. Part way through my meditation I had the urge to touch the water and I moved to the well-head and anointed myself with its cleansing fresh waters.

The new Elen Spring

I went back to the meditation and soon I felt the presence of a gentle female force. I invited a friendly water spirit to join us, and the moment that happened I was treated to a journey that I will never forget! As I stood at the top of the stream I was mentally plunged into the babbling well-head. I became a molecule of water, being thrust through the churning currents, gliding around the smooth rocks in the stream, playing with the other water molecules, and whirling, falling, rising, flowing down the stream in a torrent of joyous aquatic acrobatics. Half way down I leapt out and returned to the top of the stream – like some kind of Telletubby, I cried “Again, again!” and jumped back into the stream for another experience of this – laughing, smiling, loving every second of this Alton Towers ride I was being given.

As I returned to my waking consciousness I thanked the spirit of that well for her truly exciting and enlivening play. As each journey down the stream had been different a realisation struck me – Elen had been trying to tell me something : “On this journey one never goes by the same path twice to the same destination.“ In return for this sage advice I scoured the stream for rubbish and soon I was reaching in picking out the cans, bottles and plastics that were the inevitable detritus of the passing and uncaring race that calls itself civilised. That was my return payment, and I gave service willingly. The stream was free to flow as it willed.

The official old well location looked like this:

The official spring of St.Helen (c) Marion Benham, posted on Megalithic.co.uk

In a way I was glad that we missed that old version of the well and found the new one instead. The reports of the old well mentioned that the incredible stone carved heads found in the well had been stolen, and that the well was now in a bad state of repair, neglected and desecrated. Perhaps the spirit of the waters had also gone too. We also missed the giant’s grave mounds nearby, but then we had had our inspiration and it was time to move on to the next site – we had a lot to do in the short daylight hours.

3. Malham Cove, Malham, near Settle. [Map] – for the sake of curiosity.

Due to some typical poorly-researched navigation and wanton inattention we ended up going through Malham, mere minutes after I had been telling Kal about how busy the place gets. He had said, “I wonder why it is such an attractive place to people?“.Now, here we were unexpectedly witnessing the lines of cars parked along the lanes leading to Malham village, and soon we were up above the village passing by the cove itself. We had to stop and see if we could work out why the energies were so attractive here. We did. Both Kal and I dowsed a strong response for earth-related energy forms at Malham Cove, and some water energy too. That fits with the cove/caves and river running down the valley, I suppose. Not a surprise really. Sometimes dowsing just confirms common sense!

Malham Cove (c) Paul Heaton

On the way down the other side of Malham Cove we were both gob-smacked by the stunningly beautiful strata of limestone features that lined the route around Arnecliffe, called Yew Cogar Scar. It was all I could do to keep my eyes on the steep, narrow, and cyclist-infested lanes with all the beauty that surrounded us.

A view to run off the road for

Those were the first sites of the day, and there was plenty more to come on our Yorkshire tour. In the afternoon we would visit a cairn (inadvertently), go to a stone circle (eventually), do some very important dowsing work at Bolton Abbey, and then have to return to the stone circle (stupidly). All will be revealed soon.

It seems sort of fitting that this post is the 400th post on this blog. We have come a long way since we started in late 2008. All of that seems so long ago now, because so much has happened since then. We have grown. So I present the 400th post – a summary of the year’s work for 2010.

Like Kal I intend to do this summary in a single post. Last year it spread across about seven posts. I have learned to be more disciplined in this last year, and I will keep it to one. So, having sifted through all the millions of posts this year here are the absolute best bits. I didn’t believe that 2009 could be bettered, but I was wrong – 2010 was a vintage year that will live long in my memory, and below you will find out some of the reasons why.

PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT

Meeting and integrating with the spirit of Merlin

Things had been progressing towards this all year. Firstly I had met Arthur’s shadeA shade is the energy body of a human being that has become transfixed at a geographical location. The shade retains many of the qualities of the human that it was attached to (memories, character traits, a level of sentience, movement between places known in life). at Tintagel, and he tasked me with keeping Merlin’s legacy alive by connecting up and re-energising sacred sites. Then shades that I interacted with began to call me “Son of Merlin”, which I took to mean “follower” rather than literal progeny, or “spiritual inheritor” perhaps. Finally, at Dinas Emrys, it all came together and I descended into the Underworld to meet with Merlin’s shadeA shade is the energy body of a human being that has become transfixed at a geographical location. The shade retains many of the qualities of the human that it was attached to (memories, character traits, a level of sentience, movement between places known in life)., and as we emerged onto earth we merged in a kind of Rosicrucian marriage of male and female energies.

Of course, all of this can and perhaps should be seen symbolically, rather than literally. It works from any point of view – psychologically as the culmination of some form of inner desire, or as a desire to perpetuate a myth symbolically because it serves some psychological purpose. I’m sure it could be read many ways. For me, it was the fulfilment of my magical self. It was the integration of the intention with the delivery. It was the satisfaction of the edict “Make magick manifest”.

Meeting Brian Conquer and Feeling The Goddess in Glastonbury

Man, I almost forgot this. I was thinking about something completely unrelated and suddenly the whole experience came back to me and I had to add this bit into the post on 14th January 2011.

I remember being at the Chalice Well Gardens this year and meeting Brian Conquer, “Just a silly little Hedge Druid” as he described himself to some American tourists in search of free wisdom. I was intrigued by him - his eyes told me he knew many things and together we scolded those who leave Nature in a mess and praised those who make their own tools with love and care. That made me think of Oonagh.

Later, as I walked around the grounds he caught up with me and gave me a precious gift – a rugged clear quartz crystal. “Take that and go stand between the yew trees.” he instructed with a twinkle in his eye. “Call for the goddess.” I did what he said and minutes later she responded by visiting me – getting right inside me - expanding my aura to an incredible size and strength. So much so that a lady who was standing behind me went nuts, “Oh my God!” she kept screaming, “That’s AMAZING!“. I knew. I was feeling it. A stunning unforgettable moment for which I will repay Mr Conquer one day. 2011 is my year of service, after all.

WHAT I LEARNED

Here is a list of the twenty most valuable lessons that I learned from this year’s tasks, quests, encounters and experiences….

The Bull sigil

1. Sacred sites have an energetic imprint that can be dowsed. This imprint or sigil can reveal information about significant dates associated with the site. For example, the date when the site is most energetic, or the date when the site was created. Some reveal a sigil specific to the resident Genius LociGenius Loci means 'spirit of the place' and refers to the geological/gaian spirit of place. It is transfixed to a place – being an embodiment of the collective intelligence of the place..

2. Most sacred sites have some form of astrological alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another.

– either they are oriented towards the Sun, Moon (as calendars), or they may be designed upon a sacred number that is associated with a particular planet, or they are imbued with (or resonate to) the frequency of energetic emanations from particular stars. Often particular entrances can be found that align to celestial bodies, or significant stones are aligned to these heavenly objects are particular times of the year. These then act as guides to the types and timings of subtle energies within that sacred space.

3. There is a fourth kind of subtle energyA form of energy that has so far eluded scientific definition. It is neither electric, magenetic, nor electro-magnetic, so far as our current technical equipment can measure. It does, however, exhibit many of the characteristics of magnetism and electricity in terms of its effects and properties. It may be a form of either or both of those energies that we have not yet identified. beyond the male, female and neutral forms – Primal Energy. This is energy without gender association, and which has yet to be shaped or transformed by any agency such as the sun, moon or human. We recognised it first in crop circles, but then realised that we had been dealing with it energetically for some time without knowing what it was. I do nto have a clear distinction in my mind between primal and neutral energy forms and this is something I will endeavour to clear up in next year’s work.

4. It is possible to imbue objects with energy such that they can retain that energy and it can be drawn out from the object at a later date by those who are aware of it. The energy imbued is in a primal energy form – neither male nor female until shaped after extraction. One one occasion I absorbed the remaining spirit energy from an ancient dying oak tree before it was lost completely.

5. It is important to have a purpose when visiting sacred spaces. Having a purpose means that the rewards from the visit are less random, and the information can be chained together over a period of time leading to pools of new insights, rather than just patches of new knowledge.

6. Spirits are real. Whether these be further sub-divided into spirit, shadeA shade is the energy body of a human being that has become transfixed at a geographical location. The shade retains many of the qualities of the human that it was attached to (memories, character traits, a level of sentience, movement between places known in life). or ghost I have come to learn that they have a real existence beyond my imagination. This has seen a complete reversal in my belief system on these subjects. Previously I imagined them to be something created by humans, or were simply an expression of Nature in her many forms. Now I know that they are sentient and purposeful in their own right, and only an expression of Nature insomuch as we are all an expression of Nature.

7. I have developed trust and lost a fear of the dark. By walking barefoot at sacred sites for much of the year, even at night, I have learned to overcome my fear of being hurt, and to place my trust in those spirits who are concerned with my welfare.

8. The earth’s energy grid is in need of healing. I have been led to this conclusion by many different experiences over the year. At the start of the year I was told to go and re-awaken some sites. Later I would re-energise and link sites up. After that I would create my own neutral energy bridge between sites after pledging to take this role on, in the spirit of Merlin. I suspect that we have simply demolished, destroyed, desecrated and saturated too many of our “earth acupuncture” points on the earth grid upon which our islands lay. I feel it is my task to make what efforts I can to re-energise these points, especially after the death of Hamish Miller this year.

9. Arbor Low is a hub for neutral energy lines. This finding sparked a deep investigation into the nature of neutral energy. We later found that this sacred site was particularly beneficial for learning. I spent a time tracing where these neutral radial lines went to and found some amazing correlations which all need further investigation.

10. Stimulating, cleansing and closing the Chakras are a means to controlling the flow of subtle energyA form of energy that has so far eluded scientific definition. It is neither electric, magenetic, nor electro-magnetic, so far as our current technical equipment can measure. It does, however, exhibit many of the characteristics of magnetism and electricity in terms of its effects and properties. It may be a form of either or both of those energies that we have not yet identified. between the human energy form and other energy repositories. I spent a long time this year working through these processes at various sites and found the whole process very mystical and beneficial to my understanding of how the human energy system can be controlled.

11. The sacred geometrical numbers five, six, seven, eleven and twelve kept cropping up this year. Particularly, ’5+7=12′ and ’5+6=11′ were important equations. The 12 equation represented the current order of things: five being man, seven being spirituality and twelve being civilisation. The 11 equation seemed to represent an alternative or older way of thinking: five being man again, six being magick, and eleven being a bridge between worlds. It was like I was being shown that there was an alternate route to a higher consciousness through other numbers than those which society currently enshrined.

12. My spirit guide can be communicated with via symbols of crosses, particularly ancient Celtic crosses. It took a visit to Ireland to discover this, but I have since found it useful in this country too. I haven’t found out why this is so yet.

13. Wounds from the past can be healed by acts of redemption in the present. I found this out when I was encouraged to clean up a local pond. I took a day off work to do it. No-one saw it, no-one helped me, but when I had finished I had healed a deep distant scar from yesteryear.

14. The Arthurian metaphor works best for me. The symbols of the dragonDragons are spirit or energetic beings that reside in sacred sites and have a particular location in them and also move throughout the day (and or season). They also leave the sacred site on occasion, which again differentiates them from Genius Loci which don’t. (spiritual energy), Merlin (celestial energyThis is a term that I use to collectively describe any energetic influences that reach us from celestial sources. As with its companion term ‘Telluric EnergyA general term encompassing all forms of earth-bound or earth-generated energy. This is in differentiation to forms of celestial energy. Telluric energy can be both subtle energy and what we may call “gross” energy – in other words, energy that can be measured by current scientific instrumentation and which is electro-magnetic in nature.’ the energies of the celestial sphere are many and varied, ranging from cosmic rays (which can be scientifically measured), the sun’s various energy frequencies, the reflected energies of the Sun which arrive via the Moon, and those of the stars and planets within and beyond our solar system.), Arthur (earth energy) and all those associated medieval concepts – these are the images that I work best to interpret and bring through into my magickal learning. There is no value in my spending time learning any other symbol system or lore.

15. The star Sirius has emerged as an important energetic influenceon many things – it affects fertility, offers protection from harmful radiation, is a facilitator of the enlightenment process, radiates a blue light that resonates with our throat chakra, and it provides a strong motivational energy.

16. Weather systems are very complex and shouldn’t be toyed with. It almost didn’t need saying, yet I learned a valuable lesson when I tried it.

17. Crystals and incense are valuable tools for creating the right atmosphere, and for taking the burden when performing magickal rituals. I am now well stocked with both and appreciate their value after extensive use this year.

18. Giving promotes the right state to receive. This year I have done a lot of energy healing on humans and sacred sites. I have also done more charitable work than ever. All of this has been done unbidden and I in return I feel that I have been offered more gifts than I can possibly take on board. I hope to continue with this form of work.

19. Using the proper respect when dealing with sentient entities has led to easier access to their knowledge and beneficence.

20. Coloured energy lines can be used to reveal a picture of the energy status of a site. For example, black lines indicate an unhealthy influence on the site, whereas white, gold and purple lines are very positive and healthy. This is an area that deserves a more detailed examination next year.

THE HARDEST LESSON

In amongst all of the good things that happened there were some hard lessons. If I were to resolve all of those lessons down to the one important factors that is going to change the way I view life then it would be this…

Warning signs should be heeded.

The leprechaun energies of Ireland taught me that. Now I pay special attention. Signs generally are more worthy of our attention, especially if we are following the ‘flow of the universeTo join with the flow of the universe is to follow a natural progression in tune with Nature’s own direction of development. Religion has called this concept “following the divine will”, but then has proceeded to make it a law, rather than a useful option for personal and communal progress.’ through the ‘wheel of the year’ (see glossary). The more in attunement with Nature, the more we should pay attention to her signs.

The consequences of ignoring signs deliberately can be dire and dramatic.

NEW PATHS STARTED

When the Wheel of the Year turns around to a new year it is very difficult to see where the rotation of the wheel will take you on that journey, or what wonder you will pass on the way. This year here are some of the new paths that I have ventured down, or threads that I have picked up from previous years’ work.

Spirits (including Siddha). Specifically I have become attuned to and aware of a spirit guide. Beyond that I have extended my awareness to include a spirit helper for healing, and have acknowledged a spirit guardian. Up until this year I would say that I was one of the last people who would have acknowledged these forces, yet they have graciously made their presence known when requested to do so, and I have received nothing but help and kindness from them.

Shades. I had no dealings at all with death energies of energy forms until Kal relinquished his dealings with them part way through this year. Then, from that moment on, I seemed to get requests to learn about and deal with shades. Shades, as we denote them, are the remnant energy forms of spirits that once inhabited human bodies. Having moved on they can leave a form behind unless this energy is grounded properly (as it was in earthen mounds in ancient times through ritual and right attitudes to death).

Ash staff. I have found and restored an ash staff this year. It is now one of the most treasured objects that I take with me to sacred sites. My interactions with the staff have been crucial this year, and it has become a powerful druidical tool for me to wield out in Nature.

OLD PATHS DISCARDED

Of course, no path is ever completely discarded – it is only passed by on this journey. Later in the journey the path may re-appear. However, these are the aspects of my spiritual journey that I have chosen not to pursue further unless I need to.

Crop circles. After finding that they were created by extra-terrestrial forces and then filtered through Siddha, we gave up trying to understand their relevance to us on our spiritual quest. They remain an interesting quirk that I predict will end by 2013.

Tarot. Although I have found a talent for using the cards I have found little use for them despite believing that I would. I am not discarding them completely, and I encourage anyone to use them if they would be of value, but for me they have little use compared to the inter-relationship with spirit forces. I think the cards are just a means to access this same information anyway, and I now prefer a direct spiritual connection rather than a symbolic one. Again, I re-iterate, they have their uses, but I don’t see much use for them myself. Watch next year be totally dominated by tarot now!!

THE UNEXPECTED

There always seems to be something unexpected arising on my journey. This year I have been surprised by getting involved in the following things….

Shades and spirits – thought they we a bit of nonsense, actually, but found I was very very wrong. Might all still be in my mind, but if that’s the case then my mind is very very wrong!

Charity work – I wasn’t one for doing “good deeds” until this year. Then gradually I have been finding myself saying ‘yes’ to more and more events, and going off doing things just for the sake of it and without recognition or reward. Most unlike me! But I like the new me.

Psychics – I met a psychic and listened to him rather than laughed at him. Well, I could hardly laugh at him now that I was talking to spirits myself! Anyway – turns out he made a great deal of sense, and has been very insightful. I am pleased that I was led along this path to meet him.

WHERE THIS LEADS ME

Looking back I think that all of this leads me to begin the next year by turning my attentions to the following areas:-

Colour dowsing – I need to know what the colours mean (for me) and what colours can be found in Nature and specifically at sacred sites.

Sacred geometry – I kind of left this one hanging, but I mean to dowse for the sacred structure of stone circles and see if this has an astrological correspondence.

Earth energy grid – I want to determine why certain sacred sites seem to be linked together energetically, and if those links are damaged I want to set about repairing them, to restore the sites to their full working capacity where possible.

Book – yes, folks, I have been ‘advised’ that I should write a book. Never one to question the muses I will be putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) almost as soon as this post goes live. I don’t even know what it’s about yet, but I’m hoping ‘unseen forces’ can help there. I hope to post status updates through next year.

SUMMARY

Of course next year I will continue to follow the seasons and the Wheel of the Year, but I suspect I will not be as keen to mark every full moon. Yet the full moon is definitely an indicator for me that the energies around that time can be put to good magickal use and I will continue to preference dates close to full moons as opposed to their strict calendrical dates.

This year has been the most remarkable year of my life so far. Thanks, as ever, to my faithful sidekick Kal for his courage, inspiration and motivation - he truly does make this all worth the effort. Thanks, too, to those who have helped me. That includes you. dear readers, who have have witnessed my remarkable year on these pages, and I hope that you too have been inspired to go out and make your life’s quest as meaningful and magickal as you can. I am looking forward to what next year will bring if only to see if it could possibly match the wonders of this year.

Happy New Year, folks.

Chelmorton, Derbyshire – 20.11.10

A pale and wan full moon hung over us as we strode eagerly up to Five Wells chambered cairn. The coming dark forced our pace as we knew that time was scarce, and the eagerness of a new site made us giddy as though short of oxygen up on those windswept Derbyshire hills at the back of Chelmorton village, just off the main A6 road near Priestcliffe (with its huge round barrow). It seemed appropriate to me, one who is so overly concerned with balancing the forces that Nature provides, that the sun and the moon should be both visible and purposeful at that moment, both radiating with equally weak but welcome rays.

As we approached I felt the edge of the site’s aura and stopped. As usual Kal confirmed my feeling that this was the edge of the aura using dowsing rods. He nodded in agreement, so I got my own rods out and dowsed for the ritual path – the most respectful and energetic way of entering into the site. This in itself has become something of a ritual now. It feels right to approach in this way, especially to new sites whose guardians have not yet become accustomed to us, or who haven’t yet accepted our presence. It’s a way of showing them that we “mean business” and know what we’re doing in these sacred spaces. We’re not casual tourists!

I walked a curving female zig-zag path on the right-hand side which led me to a hollow. Little did I realise at the time that this would mimic a similar male zig-zag path on the entrance side of the chamber, which I would dowse days later. We settled in the near-side hollow, at what is the back of the chamber, on the right-hand side of the line of paired stones. We had seen similar stone rows in Merrivale in Devon earlier this year. For some reason only the right-hand side of the chamber’s hill seemed “attractive” to us. I never walked on the other side at all, and I don’t think Kal did either, except perhaps to quickly move back to the right-hand side again.

I lit some opium-scented incense and placed three sticks around the pit where we had settled. This was our sanctuary, should we need one, and I mentally cleared the space. Kal spotted that the Moon was visible in the darkening light and went off to the chamber to meditate. I couldn’t settle, however and mooched around dowsing occasionally as thoughts come into my vacuous mind space….it had been a long and draining day, and despite this being a new and exciting place, I felt that there was little for me to do here today.

Perfectly aligned to the Moon

Kal wrapped himself up in his meagre clothing (doesn’t this man feel the cold?). He did some meditation work, aligning himself with the full moon and having a wonderful experience by all accounts (you usually have to wait a bit for his write-ups, but they usually arrive eventually).

Meanwhile I had found a ley lineThe term used by many British dowsers to describe an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. It has sometimes been found that the energy ley can be diverted from its strict straight path by changes in the landscape or strong attractors that pull it away from its original course.

Energy leys may have inter-twining streams of male and female energies weaving along them, as though the energy ley is an attractor, a pathway or a conduit for the male and female energies.. As I looked up I saw that the Moon was perfectly aligned too tonight, and Kal returned soon after excited about the same alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another.
We left shortly after that because I had a pressing engagement, but I knew that I needed to come back and spend more time here. Luckily, a combination of my increasing myopia and the tiny cooking instructions for some fishcakes resulted in me having to take the first day off sick from work in living memory, and this seemed like a pre-ordained opportunity to recuperate in the bracing air of the Derbyshire hills. Oh, Dame Fortune, how you smiled as I retched brown bile, knowing this would lead to me returning to Five Wells!

The Return of the Ice Man

I was shivering inside and out, but two days later I was driving up to the Derbyshire countryside again, feeling like I had a mission to accomplish. I switched off the computer-aided navigation systems and let intuition take over for a while. ‘Which way should I go to arrive at Five Wells?’, was my only instruction to my guiding forces. I turned off down a road I had never been down before, but which was signposted Chelmorton. Now I was in new territory with only a pigeon’s senses to guide me….

Inside the Five Wells chamber

I turned again, this time down a road that wasn’t signposted but looked…”right”. Soon after, at a nice-looking hawthorn tree I turned again. Now I was going down a muddy farm track, deeply-rutted with limestone boulders and the passage of farm vehicles. My rational brain gave off floods of “impending failure” signals, but I breezily ignored them and shoo-ed them away. I pulled up at a junction that led to a farm one way, and into nowhere another way. Was I anywhere close? I tried to use my phone to pinpoint my location but I was in the middle of nowhere and reception was excruciatingly slow so I gave up. Something inside me said, “You’re close – just walk!” I reasoned that I had all day to find it, and that I couldn’t be more than five miles away from it at the most. I would walk.

I got kitted out and headed off down a track that headed off down the hill towards the valley (I assumed) that we might have walked up a few days before. If I was right then the chambered cairn would be just….there! Two points loomed into view on the edge of the hillside as I walked just moments down the track. I recognised them as the same two points we had seen sticking up as we approached from the other direction – it was Five Wells!! I had trusted my intuition and it had led me straight to it – no maps, no guidance systems. In fact, there couldn’t be any more direct route! Even the route we took last time was longer and more arduous, involving a long steep climb up a hill. I was ever so grateful to the guiding forces for that, because I was still recuperating from my stomach-and-fishcake juggling.

As I walked toward the chamber I had a chance to clean up after our last visit, because we had left some incense burning in our eagerness, and someone else had removed some of it but then had dropped it on the path. I put it in my bag, annoyed that we had left it in the first place. I began to wonder if I had been called back just to clean up, but then I got a grip. There was important information to obtain from this site – I just knew it.

Five Wells chamber view

On arrival I cleared up any remaining incense sticks and once again stood in the hollow near to the paired row of stones. I noticed that the sun was all on one side today, the right-hand side. I wondered if that was why we had both felt like this was the energised side? I began to dowse – “Take me to the strongest energy point in this site, please!” and off I went.

Moments later I was circling around inside the chamber itself where Kal had been standing. There was a male and female combined power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. The place is an energetic centre where a particularly beneficial combination and formation of energies is formed into a pattern that is harmonic with the person for whom it can be called a power centre. in there, but where did those lines go to, I wondered? The only energy I could find was on the right-hand side of the site, and looked like the diagram below:

Five Wells energy diagram

With that work done I paused to admire the views and take some photographs. I was then then I noticed how cold it was – bitter, biting, sharp cold. I hurried into the chamber where it was at least sheltered from the wind. I dowsed again – could I do some work in here? YES. I set about cleaning the space ready for my work – incense lit at the entrance and inside the chamber, then I stood on the power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. The place is an energetic centre where a particularly beneficial combination and formation of energies is formed into a pattern that is harmonic with the person for whom it can be called a power centre. and relaxed, doing my usual meditations to connect to the world.

Moments later I was in a quiet head space. I posed the question – “How can I progress with my task of freeing spirits?“. Some phrases began to appear in my mind…”Go see the psychic” they kept saying. It took me a moment to connect the response to the question…oh, you mean my psychic friend Michael who lives an hour away from this place? It had been a few months since I had seen him and I wasn’t sure if he would be around this day…but when I phoned him straight away (most unusual for me to do that!) he was in and available for lunch! That was me surfing the flow of the universeTo join with the flow of the universe is to follow a natural progression in tune with Nature’s own direction of development. Religion has called this concept “following the divine will”, but then has proceeded to make it a law, rather than a useful option for personal and communal progress., without a doubt.

I said my farewells to Five Wells (do you see what I did there?) and I headed off to visit my psychic friend. It turned out to be a very valuable meeting.

Last week I moved to North Devon, specifically the town of Barnstaple. I was here but a day when I was walking around the town center getting my bearings and checking out the cafes when I was pulled into an alley way. I say pulled because that was how it felt. I had walked past the non-descript alley several times without noticing, this time however I felt a strong urge to turn into it and explore what was on the other side.

I am reminded of an occasion when our sometimes dowsing companion John tells of a time he was “pulled” off the road and along a lane to a hidden churchyard. Well this was no different. The alley led to a secluded set of lanes that went around and between a chapel. More accurately St Anne’s chapel.

As I walked around the lanes I could feel that there was something going on here. Special is a word that I used at that time, perhaps even magical. The feeling wasn’t good or bad, it was just a feeling. Like static electricity in the air. It, simply “felt”.

Although the chapel was in a very secluded area I could see that there would be no chance of dowsing it, as there were a few people passing through or seated on the occasional benches all of the time. Still my curiosity was peaked and for the next couple of days I went to that “hidden” strange place several times.

Gwas and I have a term, Guerrilla Dowsing for occasions when our dowsing is rather risky, perhaps at sites that are gated and barred. A week after my arrival at St Anne’s I knew that I just had to dowse that place. So setting off about 2a.m. I decided that now was the time.

The streets were empty except for a saxophone player in the empty market square, playing the same mournful tune again and again, seriously!. I walked past him, pretending to be hurrying home and entered the dark alley and the lanes beyond.

The static feeling I had had on previous occasions seems to be magnified by the darkness of the night as I pulled out my dowsing rods and began to question them regarding this mysterious place.

Was there anything energetically significant about this place? Yes

Was it to do with the church? Yes

Was there any ley lines going through this place?Yes

There were two leys that crossed the chapel, not being as well equipped as Gwas I don’t know which direction they were going I’m afraid. Nevertheless my questions continued…

Was there anything else here besides the leys? Yes

Power centers? Yes – were these significant? No

On impulse I asked whether there were any Energetic Shrouds here? The rods fairly jumped out of my hands with a YES. But as I explored the place I couldn’t find any graves so my curiosity was peaked further…Shrouds with no graves?

Gwas and I have come across the odd energy shroud outside of grave yards, but here the rods were going manic over the question of Energetic Shrouds, there were lots and lots of them here.

Being a lot wiser than before I immediately put up several layers of protection and continued my investigations. Take me to the most concentrated area of shrouds? The rods took me up the steps to the church. Wow! You could really feel them crowding around up there or was it the dark and my imagination.

Further questioning revealed that the there had been many burials at the site but the graves had been built over (Does the Amityville horror ring any bells people?) Also that the two leys were energising the shrouds and thus giving them a longer “life” than they would normally have.

I was getting over whelmed by the energies of the place by this time and conscious that someone might spot me, a newcommer, wandering around churchyards at night, so I produced a protective Energy BombAn energy bomb is (for me) the pulling in of energy from the surrounding environment and then causing an explosive release. It is highy effective against Leprechaun Energy but not so much against energetic draining energies and shades. as I left the place.

Now that I am writing this I googled the church and found the following interesting information…

… the grave stones were removed and placed around the boundary walls. The walls of the crypt, which had been buried outside and choked up within by an accumulation of soil, were opened up.

What must always strike the visitor is the height of the ancient churchyard above the level of the church and other nearby buildings and pathways. This is due to centuries of burials. It was the universal custom after each burial to scatter the remaining soil onto the adjacent ground and so gradually this raised the level of the churchyard.

Source

What a set of confirmatory information! Exactly as I dowsed it to be.

Kal Malik ~ Late night dowser!

Often we return to places many months or years after a visit and find that we have a purpose similar to our previous visit, but this time we are further up the spiral of life and the work is subtly different. Other times, we get called back to a place much sooner because there is something very important that we have missed, overlooked, not done or not done properly. Such an event happened with Dinas Bran recently.

Originally, we had set Dinas Bran as the main flag on our map of the sites to visit for the Autumn Equinox. Well and good, but by the time we got there I had forgotten my original reason for going, which was to try to cleanse and invigorate the site, and to connect it to the first point on my Earth Grid Chain project that I have undertaken. Sure enough, somehow, I got another opportunity to make amends – something that only happens if the work is very important. Clearly, this was important (if only to me). On a clear, still and warm night Kal and I zoomed into Wales, past Llangollen town, and up onto the hill of Dinas Bran once again. This time, the work was at the forefront of my mind.

On arrival we set to dowsing straight away – was this a good night to do this work? YES. Was I in a fit energetic state to do the work? YES. Could I do it alone? NO. Would Bran help me? YES, but…Damn that “Yes, but…” response! Now I had to find out where the other source of help might come from. I went through my usual list of helpful energies and spirits and arrived at my trusty Spirit Guide herself, Theodora. I must admit, she’s not usually my first port of call, only because I’m still nervous about working with her – my hang-up about her being a former human being. I just have to get over that some day! She’s been nothing but helpful and useful to me in my magick work, and never seems to impose herself but waits for a call. Could I ask for more? Still I am hesitant. Perhaps if you have such interactions too you know what I mean?

Knowing the place well now I knew where to go to speak with Bran. Nevertheless I confirmed the exact spot with my rods, but found that Bran was in his usual position. I have the technique for tuning into such spirits of place really finely tuned now, and was swiftly able to sink into a light trance that allowed me to clear my mind and put out a request to speak to him. His voice answered my greeting. It sounded like my own voice but I knew the replies were something either deep in me, or deep in the land. I asked if he would assist my work to make this connection to the Earth Grid and he seemed happy to help.

I moved to the power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. I looked around for Kal, but he was off elsewhere in the ruins, and in the deepening gloom he looked like a dark shadow moving across a moonlit backdrop. He appeared to be asleep but I knew better. Back to my work. I called Theodora to join my work and a sudden shiver went through my spine – this is the recently developed “call sign” that tells me she is present and with me. The more sensitive I have got to these energy forms the more they seem to be having a physical effect upon me.

I placed some incense around me (four) and lit them to cleanse the working space and keep other energies out while I worked. I have become more and more used to using incense now than using crystals. I think the crystals have fallen out with me because I don’t cleanse them! I’ve just made that up, but it does feel like I work better with incense than crystals.

I meditated to connect. Once connected with Dinas Bran I projected myself out to Frodsham Caves. I mentally “flew” there and located the power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. Having made this connection I felt I needed to re-inforce the channel. At this point I realised that Bran was supplying some of the energy from the ground – it was “primal” energy, un-formed and malleable. This was rising up through me. Theodora, I could feel, was then transforming the primal energy into “neutral” ley energy as it emerged from me.

My arms went out in from of me like I was pointing with both hands at the caves, and I imagined the neutral energy being channeled along a straight line between the two sites. Then the link was made into a sort of arcing bridge between the sites, circling up from Dinas Bran, then dropping down into Frodsham, then back underground and rising up to Dinas Bran. I moved this energy circle faster and faster until it moved by itself, still channeling the energy down my outstretched arms to keep it straight and true.

I felt it was done, so I went to find Kal. He took some finding in the dark, but he was sat in a window ledge looking out over the valley below. I asked him to come and dowse what I had done, which he did reluctantly. I didn’t follow him, but sent him off in a direction, with the instruction to tell me whether he could find a neutral line, and the direction it flowed in. He wandered off into the gloom (int he wrong direction!) and minutes later there was some noise. I wandered over. He was stood on my power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. I laughed. “And what kind of line is it – male, female, neutral?”. “Neutral.” he confirmed. I was overjoyed. I really had created a neutral link between the sites. Amazing!

Here are our audio summaries of the night’s work, recorded in situ. In the first one I recount my energy bridge work:

A Bright Star Moving

We were almost done. Then I drew Kal’s attention to a bright star that was moving over the south-western part of the sky. We watched it slowly drifting “down” the night sky, wobbling as it went. Was it a plane? It looked like a star – bright blue-white, circular…then it did a 90 degree turn, heading “left” (south) across the backdrop of stars. It was still bigger and brighter than the stars behind it, but now it was moving much faster. Faster than an airplane moves. As we watched it the ‘bright star’ began to climb upwards, getting smaller and fainter within a few seconds. We knew that it had climbed up at what must have been an astonishing speed.

For a few moments we went through the usual lists: Plane? No. Shooting star? No way – it turned! Satellite? The motion would be constant, no. Firefly? joked Kal. We laughed nervously. No, this was something else. Something that moved erratically, yet purposefully when it wanted to, and which could move at speed too, climbing out of eyesight and moving very rapidly.

Sunday 20th June, 2010 – Glastonbury, Somerset.

This is the fourth in the series of Summer Solstice posts, and by far the most ….important, astonishing, profound? In previous posts I have detailed my quest to finish off my tasks for the previous eighthpart of the year, and then to discover the purpose of the next eighth-part. Bothof these were very successful, and involved working with the heart chakra to bring about a harmonisation and integration within me. Then I had been posed a riddle to solve that would be the key to the next phase of the year from the Solstice to Lammas. With that safely determined, I could relax (could I relax any more?) and just “be”. I would say I was in a state of “openness” at this point, and ready to chill out in the lovely Chalice Well gardens, given that it was a fantastic sunny day. So, off we went down the Tor in a state of contentedness.

If there’s one place in the whole of Glastonbury that I appreciate more than any other it’s the tranquil space and beauty of the Chalice Well gardens. Its serenity is such an oasis from the hubbub of the Tor and the High Street, sandwiched as it is between the two. As we approached the ticket boothour thoughts were already turning to the “mindlessness” that such a place engenders and were were both quiet in preparation. The bearded man in the booth looked us up and down and then commented on the beauty of my ash staff. Thus began a special moment in my spiritual journey – I met Brian Conquer, ArchDruid of Glastonbury, for the first time.

The beauty and tranquility of the Chalice Well gardens

How To Inlay A Staff

The conversation with Brian began with him asking about how I came across the staff. I told him the story that it had asked me to rescue it, how I had heard its call, revived it and how now I wanted to decorate it. Now we were inseparable companions, the staff and I. Straight away I felt as though he understood what I meant, which rather surprised me, but hey – we were in Glastonbury and people must hear comments like that all the time. Brian began to explain how I might decorate the staff usinga particular technique involving twisted copper wire, superglue, a soldering iron with a square head, and some sandpaper. It sounded like it was just the piece of information that I had been waiting for because I had been holding off from carving the staff for a while now feeling that this was not the right thing to be doing, and having dowsed that the marks I was making needed to be more distinct. Here was Brian telling me exactly how that could be achieved!

Brian’s technique for inlaying the staff in copper was firstly to burn a shape into the wood using the soldering iron. Then, twist the copper wire, glue it in place, and use the sandpaper to cause heat via friction which blends the copper and glue until the finish is smooth. Well, it sounded simple enough, and I said I would go and practise that. He commented that he would be holding a workshop on how to do exactly that in late August here in the Chalice Well gardens. I made a special note to leave a space in my calendar. This was just the guidance that I needed to complete my “side quest” of transferring the shapes I am dowsing, the sigils of the genius lociGenius Loci means 'spirit of the place' and refers to the geological/gaian spirit of place. It is transfixed to a place – being an embodiment of the collective intelligence of the place. of various sacred sites, and putting them onto my staff. Here was a man who was experienced in just that technique.

There was even more information on offer too, though. Brian informed us about the red spring (female water) that emerged from under the Tor and had been enshrined here in the gardens. Over the road in the white spring, the male quality of the water was surfaced, channeled and enshrined. So, on either side of the road that separated the White Springs from the Chalice Well, the two qualities of water were available.

Another nugget of information was that there was an old yew tree with special qualities in the churchyard of St.Andrew’s church at Compton Dundon nearby. Brian reckoned that the yew tree was around 1500 years old, but also that it was the home of a friendly female dryad – a tree spirit. Having met only male dryads so far I made a mental note to go visit this should I get the chance. Some other arrivals at the gardens overheard this conversation and took an avid interest as well. Mr Conquer was holding court to a rapt audience!

Nooks and crannies in Chalice Well gardens

Meeting The Goddess

Kaland I thanked the old man for his effusive and passionate display of knowledge. He had given us so many ideas to play with in such a short time that we felt we needed to spend some time in the gardens now to assimilate it all! Kal went off doing his thing (he loves the gardens) and I went off following a dowsing rod to find the best place for me to be. I started by asking if there was anywhere I could re-energise my healing ash staff – this was, after all, the quintessential healing place. I was lead to a sun-drenched circle of sawn tree trunks through a narrow archway that overlooked the main running spring water. ‘Idyllic’ is barely an adequate word! Perfect for re-charging – in terms of sunlight, the geometry of the space, and the quietness. I felt perfectly fine leaving the staff there whilst I went off elsewhere to find my own perfect spot.

After spending time on a fruitful trail moving from beneath various types of tree – beech, then willow, then rowan, and finally yew – I wandered down to where Kal was playing into the channeled spring, observing its flow. It looked like he was doing something akin to Schauberger’s principles of flowing water, but he didn’t elaborate. Seeing he wasn’t finished I didn’t interrupt, but began to wander aimlessly. That was when Brian nipped out of the ticket hut to shout some advice across to me: “Why don’t you try standing between the yew trees facing down the hill, groudn your staff and calling on the Goddess?“, he suggested. I had already been between the yew trees on my last visit, and again on this one, but his additional instructions made me think he knew something I didn’t, and beside – how the whole garden was watching to see what I would do! Nothing like a bit of pressure!

I stood in the centre of the two yews and asked them if they minded me doing this little experiment. I got a pleasing feeling, and so I thanked them and carried on. There was a lady behind me who seemed to be taking a very keen interest in this procedure, but I did my best to screen everyone out and followed the instructions. I faced down the slope, unfixed my attention and then struck the earth with my staff. At that precise moment I sent my attention up and down into the earth and sky. Once I was connected above and below I looked into the middle distance and called mentally upon the Goddess to visit me in this place. Would anything happen? Or would I just look foolish?

Two yews and a thorn tree in Chalice Well gardens

A gentle but powerful force arrived surrounding me in a maelstrom of whirling energies- a veritable vortex of coiling charge built up around me. I could feel my aura expanding and pulsing in and out in slow and very strong heartbeats. The American lady behind me, whom I had completely forgotten about, so awed was I by this ‘visitation’, was saying things like “Whoa – I’m being pushed backwards – now I’m moving forwards again!”. I continued feeling like I was in the centre of a storm and couldn’t imagine what it must look like from the outside – did people see this swirling vortex of subtle energyA form of energy that has so far eluded scientific definition. It is neither electric, magenetic, nor electro-magnetic, so far as our current technical equipment can measure. It does, however, exhibit many of the characteristics of magnetism and electricity in terms of its effects and properties. It may be a form of either or both of those energies that we have not yet identified. like I was feeling it?

I had a question I wanted to ask my visitor. I guessed she might be able to help me with this one. I asked if I might ask the question, to which the winds increased in strength momentarily. I imagined my question to her: “What was the nature of the dragonDragons are spirit or energetic beings that reside in sacred sites and have a particular location in them and also move throughout the day (and or season). They also leave the sacred site on occasion, which again differentiates them from Genius Loci which don’t. that I had to awaken? Was it a hill, an energy, a skill, a tale, or what?” The answer came back immediately, “It is the serpent fire within you. Can’t you feel it?” she whispered witha strong hint of humour. Of course I could! It was swirling all around and through me now! I was happy with that clear guidance, and thanked her for helping me. I released my mental grip, re-focusing my attention back into the present world and the winds around me began to ease off. As they did so I thanked the visitor for the experience – the single most powerful and exhilarating experience of that nature that I have ever had. The American lady behind me looked equally shell-shocked and could only say “Thank you! Thank you for that – that was amazing!” over and over again as she walked away, wide-eyed. I smiled and looked over at Brian in his wooden ticket office. He winked at me and smiled too. He seemed to know what that had been like for me.

I returned to Kal again and he still seemed to be busy meditating. I suddenly noticed that there were lots of herbs planted along one side of the garden’s walls and I wandered over to stroll amongst them – touching and smelling each in turn. I had never paid any interest at all to herbs before, but suddenly they it seemed to me that they were very important, and that I should learn their properties. I have no idea why this suddenly seemed so important, but since then I have been buying herb seeds, studying their lore, and have designated a space in my garden ready for planting them! Most odd. Or maybe just a natural progression on this druidic path?

As I wandered around Brian appeared again with a conspiratorial wink, and handed me a small wrapped hand-sized package. “A present from the Goddess.” he winked and smiled before chuckling to himself as he walked away. I thanked him as he retreated, and I unfolded the paper – it was a large prism of clear quartz. A present from an Archdruid? A treasured possession already! I was very humbled.

CropCircleConnector – the site that I trust to deliver sensible and timely information about the location and circumstances of the latest crop circles – has posted pictures of the first 2010 circle to appear. Yet again it has started in Wiltshire, and again the location is significant to those of us who watch for such things. The bigger question though is – what does it signify?

That has been a difficult question, but not one to which I have placed much of my attention, time or focus over the last year as I casually observer their appearance, and equally casually admired their form. This time, however, the formation seems to be particularly relevant to my researches at this very moment. Timely in a spookily coincidental way – the kind of coincidence that makes me prick up my ears and have a good sniff of the flow of consciousness as it passes.

Here’s what it looks like (courtesy of CCC’s site):

Old Sarum's consciousness map

What this means to me

My reading of this formation is entirely personal, and I urge you to make your own reading to suit yourself. This is in no way relevant for anyone else, but in case you’re interested, here’s what it means to me. Remember that this eighth part of the year I have recently found to be concerned with the study of how to investigate, understand and utilise the seven chakra energies that can be produced from the white light of neutral light energy? There was also the suggestion that I work at uniting the two energy centres of the lower and upper energy stores in order to work towards this understanding of the seven energy powers.

So, I look at this picture and I see the eye in the lower half – the observant eye – the eye that is looking at the seven circles – the seven vortices – the seven chakra points. Above it I see the upper wider eye symbol, which I take to be the third-eye – a stylised and symbolic eye, more perfect and with wider vision than the lower “real” eye. Through that third-eye flows five lines of energy, that may either be passing through, emanating from the power point, or flowing into it. Perhaps all three directions at once?

I think the five energy streams are five levels of consciousness through which I have to pass as a result of working with and understanding the seven forms of vibrational energy form that can be diffracted from the white light energy source of the neutral energy form. That’s about as mad and esoteric as it needs to get, right? Clearly, I’m cracked and ought to have voted Monster Raving Loony. But there’s one more thing…

The formation is reputedly laid out on the ley lineThe term used by many British dowsers to describe an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres.

Energy leys may have inter-twining streams of male and female energies weaving along them, as though the energy ley is an attractor, a pathway or a conduit for the male and female energies.. It is easily confused with ley and therefore its use is not recommended by dowsers. that Danny Sullivan documents in his book “Ley Lines” on page 199, and which he credits to Sir Norman Lockyer and Alfred Watkins, calling it perhaps the oldest identified ley (by modern man). He names this as being the “Old Sarum Ley”.

It passes through the following sacred sites:-

Durrington Down tumulus [link]

Stonehenge [link]

Old Sarum [link]

Salisbury Cathedral

Clearbury Ring [link]

Frankenbury Camp [link]

That’s a lovely North-South line, and it comes close to a line that I identified as passing through Arbor Low as it travels further up north. I will see whether I can get anything more about those five lines of consciousness change. I have a draft post that I was already preparing about the numbers 7 and 12. Well, I don’t need to point out to you that 7+5….. Things just keep knitting together in this line of work!
