2016 Summary of the Year

2016 Summary of the Year

In this post I want to bring together some of the themes of the year, and associate key posts with those themes. Together they forms a description of my spiritual year for 2016. THEME 1 – Taliesin: bardic work, light, awen and courage. IMBOLC: Brigid at Derbyshire sites such as Gawton’s Well. I experienced the re-kindling of my spiritual flame. I felt the bursting of an embryonic bag of light using the awen of Taliesin – this powered me to begin to write my first book. I discovered the courage to get back into spiritual work after Kal’s death. Imbolc 2016 P1 Bursting the Bag of Light AUTUMN: Taliesin and the Uneasy Chair or Cadair Idris. This was another ‘bardic episode’ where the awen flowed, and poetry emerged. Not for a long...

The Thin Veil – Samhain 2016

The Thin Veil – Samhain 2016

It’s Samhain, or Halloween and I’m travelling to Valle Crucis Abbey in Llangollen in the heart of the night. The idea is that I will meet with Cailleach and Duignan to take advantage of the thin veil between the Middle Earth and The Underworld. If you need a “catch up” on these two “personalities” then here’s a link with keywords for each: Cailleach ¦ Duignan As I drive towards the town, down weaving flowing dark roads that I know so well, I hear a phrase which I don’t understand the relevance of at that time. The phrase which repeats itself is “ready or not“, and it is sung in the style in which The Fugees did that track a while ago: “Ready or not, here I come. You can’t hide. Gonna find...

Ash and the Lightning Path

Ash and the Lightning Path

Conscious Camp. I’d heard of it from my friends who attend my weekly meditation. They had raved about it all year, and at first I wasn’t interested, but when they enthused about the number of activities and how they fitted completely with my druidic lifestyle, then I succumbed. I went to the Autumn Conscious Camp in the village of Glyn Dyfrdwy near Llangollen on the A5. They were right. It took my less than an hour to get the vibe of the place, and it was a wonderful vibe. Such beautiful lovely people all there to improve and come together to improve their mental and spiritual states. Ahh… this is what it’s all about. Anyway – I couldn’t just loaf about – this was a perfect environment in which to continue my work, my...

Flickering Venus and Forgiveness

Flickering Venus and Forgiveness

Why wouldn’t you want to go out on a wet and windy night to climb up a steep hill in the dark to visit a stone circle on an exposed ridge? Such rhetoric did play momentarily in my mind, but I ignored its facetiousness, and went anyway. The Corvus Correspondence As I arrived at the base of the slopes of Moel Pearce just northeast of the village of Llandrillo on North Wales. It had been a while since I had been here and I was aware that this stone circles I was about to visit was one of the four sacred sites which correspond, in my mind, with the positions of the four main stars of the Corvus constellation. The crow. The sign of Kal. Moel Ty Uchaf stone circle is one of the finest in the area. It is relatively intact, has a good complement of stones, and has...

Reconfigurations and Repurcussions

Reconfigurations and Repurcussions

It was the first energetic thing that I could bring myself to do after Kal’s death. I knew what needed to be done, but I needed a week away to even begin to get enough space between the event and what I needed to find the strength to do. Energetically, shamanically, we had discussed the concept of clearing death energy many times. This was not the circumstance in which I ever intended to use such practices. Yet the fact remained. Kal’s energy needed to be released from the spot where he had died. Only I knew that. Only I knew how to do that. Only I cared that it was done. He would only have wanted me to be the one to do it. So I had to stiffen up the sinews and go back there. Back to the slopes of Dinas Bran in Llangollen. On the way it looked so...
