It was late Thursday evening and I had questions on my mind. The foremost being where to find the answers to the questions posed in this post.

Since I was currently located in the South-West of the UK, my personal preference was for something local-ish. Glastonbury? Avebury, Cornwall site? So I began my dowsing quest by asking whether a suitable site was South, East or North of here (West is the ocean).

I got a good indication for North. I then asked whether the site was one I had visited before? Yes. This was followed by me dowsing all the sites that where North of my position (which is most of the visited sites!) Finally and almost literally, finally. I got to Llangernyw Yew tree and the rods flew inwards. I sighed! I hadn’t planned to go North this coming weekend. But in anticipation of finding some answers, I managed to get out of work slightly early to make the five hour trip to the 4,500 thousand year old Ancient Yew tree.

I arrived at the church around 10.30 and was glad to just sit by the river that runs along the side and take a stretch and a rest. The view of the clear night sky with half moon glowing was, as always a wonder to behold. After some minutes of rest I climbed back up the stairway to go and be with the Yew tree. It is an amazing experience to be in the company of such a peaceful and knowledgable tree.

Dowsing suggested that lighting some incense would be auspicious and so I lit five sticks and placed them as directed by the rods. Standing amongst them, I asked the questions that had had my mind wandering:

Rosicrucians and Templar:

Do I need to research these? No, not yet but I would after I had done some more work

Rosicrucians or/and Templars? Neither, at the moment see above

Do I need to visit some of their sites in Cornwall? Yes, and the first of these should be Temple

Green Knight myth:

Was it just a pointer to Luds church? Yes, but there is more

Do I need to create and go on a pilgrimage following his path? Yes

When and through what sites? You will be given a sign

Holy Grail:

Is there a relationship between this and the phoenix? Yes – transformation

And my book? Yes it represents your personal quest

How can I believe this answer? How can you believe you’re talking to a tree?

Wand:

Do I have to make this? Yes you should have done so already

By when? Learn now!

What to use? Start the journey and you will know

As always the Yew didn’t disappoint with its answers. I quite liked the chide in that “you are talking to a tree” quite amusing.

I also got a curious piece of knowledge…”Someone is coming to challenge you?” Me? No. Gwas!…interesting…and also this… “Destiny is not how the world sees you, but is how you see the world”

I am currently recuperating from an exhausting day of work. I occasionally help out in my own garden, but mainly it’s the province of my wife because she has the time and the inclination to do the mundane gardening work. I must say that ordinarily I get called upon to do the bigger heftier tasks, or I take it upon myself to do some special project such as growing a magical herb garden, or a future idea I have to create a turf labyrinth. That kind of thing. So it came as a big bodyshock to me when I had to spend all day gardening in a local primary school’s “Writing Garden” – a space that they had let go to a state of disrepair over the years.

I, and a select band of volunteer colleagues that I work with, spent our designated volunteer day working at this local school. I was appointed Team Leader for the project, so had the additional burden of the form-filling, the team selection, acquiring resources for the project, risk assessment and all the other tasks that no-one wants to do. With the help of my deputy and our incredibly useful and dedicated admin lady, we managed to get everything prepared in time for the work.

The garden is space needed several key areas fixing: the perimeter path needed completely clearing of root and weeds; the planted shrubs needed tending to and giving some breathing space from the invasive lime tree saplings that had self-seeded; all the wooden benches needed sanding and re-painting; and a wall that had been stripped of ivy needed cleaning and painting. Here’s how the garden looked before we started work:

A cluttered leaf-laden primary school garden

Here’s a closer look at the drab back wall:

Bare brick and a hazardous overgrown path

Within a day we had performed something of a minor miracle. A team of ten of us, dedicated hard-working people who practically spurned taking any form of break or stoppage throughout the whole day, such was their motivation, together we transformed the garden into a working safe and tidy space for the primary school children who would use it to inspire their creativity.

The Writing Garden transformed

Here is the newly-painted ivy wall, now all clean and bright, with paths that were safe to walk on, and sown with wild flower seeds:

A brighter and safer area to inspire creativity

There were a few other additional touches that we added to the garden, such as potted bushes, a water butt to collect rainwater, bird boxes and a gravelled path:

A lovely repainted seating area and a tidied border.

Chi8ldren can now walk safely all around the garden and access the whole space even on bad weather days:

Gravelled paths allow access to all seating areas

The whole experience was heartening, motivating and left us all feeling thoroughly worthy. Every single team member put in every effort they could to make this happen within a single working day, and I heard not one single gripe or moan throughout the whole day. It was simply magical to be a part of such a project.

Friday 28th May – Newgrange, Country Meath, Ireland.

This is the second part of the account of our visit to Newgrange. One thing became abundantly clear to me as we were there – this was not a suitable place to be doing some work on my chakras. The rods luckily agreed with that instinctive diagnosis. Instead, we spent our time finding out about the place – what was it for? How did it work? Was the main mound the only interesting part of the site? It wasn’t.

Emerging from Newgrange’s main chamber, Kal and I headed in the opposite direction to everyone else. We walked clockwise around the huge wall of white quartz rock with its occasional studs of differently coloured stones protruding like dull stars in a negative image of the sky at night.

We set about dowsing and discussing the quartz wall of facing stones that was a reconstruction from the fallen stones found at the site when it was rebuilt recently. We dowsed that the quartz was used to amplify the energies captured and then filtered through the mound’s many alternating layers of organic and inorganic material (cf. Wilhelm Reich’s Orgone Accumulator). This fantastic site has some excellent imagery of the layers discovered during the excavations.

We spent just another few moments at the reconstructed quartz wall, trying to find out whether those intermittent stones had any effect. We found that the duller spotted stones were important somehow. It was important that they were part of the wall, important that the broke up the continual pattern of white stones but they were not energetically significant in themselves. They had a function, but the purpose was not fulfilled by some property of the stone, only by their placement in the pattern. With this confusing response, we decided to wander on, around the exterior, contrary to the flow of the other tourists who looked at us with some idle amusement.

We walked around the right way and Kal showed me his discovery from when he had been off wandering alone earlier - a small double chambered building. What was it? What was its purpose? We wandered inside to try to find out.

The building had two chambers and an entrance porch. Beyond the porch was the larger of the two chambers, large enough to seat eight people, and indeed there were eight alcoves built into the round chamber’s wall. There were two such alcoves in the entrance porch too. Beyond the main chamber with the eight seats was another smaller chamber which had one seat cut into the back of the wall. The smaller chamber looked as though it would fit someone in if they were sat down, perhaps with a ‘minder’ or observer watching them in the seat opposite.

We went back to the entrance and began to investigate the purpose of each of the parts of the building. We dowsed that the two entrance seats were for guards, people who would prevent others from entering and disturbing the proceedings, whatever they might turn out to be.

Inside the main chamber we found out much more information. There were four seats on the right-hand side of the chamber which were for men to sit in. The four seats on the left-hand side were for women. The purpose of the eight participants was that they would draw down moon energy through the small portal windows that dotted the chamber at strategically placed points above eye level.

The whole building was geared around an initiate. The Initiate would have someone with him or her, who would guide them through the process they had to follow. The Initiate would sit in the smaller far chamber with the guide watching over them. The eight people in the main chamber would channel the moon’s energy into the Initiate through the small gap that leads to the Initiate’s chamber. This would be done during the three-day cycle when the moon was at its fullest.

The signal for the end of the process would be a shaft of sunlight that would enter to strike the Initiate through the small window in the Initiate’s chamber.

One very interesting aspect of this energising ritual was that there was a spiral formation in the main chamber. When I dowsed as to where the energy went from that point the rods directed me to the main Newgrange chamber. This got me thinking – was there some kind of passageway between the two places, because there was no obvious entrance in the side of Newgrange’s main mound? The rods indicated that there is a hidden passage beneath this smaller building that leads to the main mound. It seems as though, even with all the excavation that has been done on the surface of this site perhaps something has been missed that existed underneath it? Without some kind of surveying equipment I have only got the dowsing rods to rely on.

This is, of course, highly speculative and we have nothing to rely upon here except the dowsing. There were several correlations, though, both before and after finding this information out, that would contribute towards correlating the ritual and how it was conducted. In other places we found the three day Moon cycle was important (Knowth and Dowth).

It was with some interest that I can now piece together two pieces of information that I didn’t have at the time. I noticed that the floor plan of this building, its layout, is exactly the same as an inscription carved into one of the rocks in the Four Knocks mound – a carving which shows a spiral in the middle of the larger chamber with a smaller chamber next to it. This is what we found here too, before we had been to Four Knocks.

Next we would take a long walk along the valley to a site that very few visitors seemed to bother with (because no tourist bus went there). We walked to Dowth, a large mound whose features I recognised immediately, and which Kalhad a particular affinity with. Newgrangehad provided us with some interesting information, but Dowth would surpass even that.

Friday 28th May - Knowth, Country Meath, Ireland.

The series of large megalithic structures concentrated in the Boyne Valley was the target of our first full day in Ireland. We were stationed nearby at Duleek, so getting to the Newgrange complex was a breeze, and we were properly fuelled by a hearty breakfast including locally-reared produce and home-made soda bread and jams.

We followed signs for Newgrange, knowing that this was the popular site and that it probably would lead us to the rest too. Sure enough as we aprked in the jazzy new car park at the Visitor Centre and walked down to the main door, we knew we were in for the full tourist treatment. Even knowing that didn’t prepare us for the officialdom that was to follow:-

visitors are directed to state which combination of the sites they want to visit: Newgrange only, Knowth only, or both. Clearly, most went for both or just Newgrange

a sticker was placed upon you in a visible location indicating your bus time, and then you were directed to the cash point to pay 5 Euros per site (actually, 6 for Knowth becuase it’s a tad further)

you paid and then were informed about how to reach your first bus, which was a 200 yard walk through the centre, out the doors, across the Boyne, along a winding path, and then up to the circular bus pick-up point.

To say these guys had this regulated was an understatement! Although initially appalled by this we were actually quite grateful that this system, which only permitted a group of around thirty people at a time in a site, actually allowed everyone to enjoy the site’s features without bumping into people all the time. It made sense, even if it was far from what we were used to. It reminded us of visiting Stonehenge.

Rock Art as Energy Symbols

One of my objectives for visiting these popular megalithic sites was to get a comparison of the famous rock art shapes with those that we had discovered through our dowsing adventures over the last few years. Did any of them match? Would we be able to make a sensible guess at the forms and shapes, the symbols and swirls that our neolithich ancestors had taken so much time and trouble to inscribe into rock?

As we waited for our bus I took pictures of the rock art displyed in photographs and pictographs in the free exhibition in the Visitor Centre. On arriving at Knowth half an hour later (after listening to a few minutes of the guide’s useful commentary then making our excuses) I went around with my camera taking snapshots of all of the rock art on the base supports of the large mound. I wanted to compare our energy findings with the shapes represented in the stone. Here are some examples of the interesting symbols. In a subsequent post more of these symbols are explained, but for now, here are the ones we could identify immediately:-

Spiral of seven rings between two standing stones acting as portals

If one looks at the image above as a two-dimensional depiction of a three-dimensional energy field then things become a little easier to understand. The spiral is, of course, what we would call a “power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another.
The two arcs on either side of the spiral are the neutral entrance and exit arcs that we have begun to discover at numerous sacred places, usually stone circles. These arcs form ‘spaces’ in the energy field through which poeple and spirit energies can pass without ‘interfering with’ or being affected by the overall energy field, because to pass through the energy field around a site is to interact with it. These neutral entrances and exits seems to be a bypass to that trip-wire effect, possibly to allow for the ‘safe passage’ of spirit energy through the site, unhindered by the site’s design and potential.

Seven levels of radial energy

It is entirely possible to read too much into the decorative swirls and shapes that adorn the rocks surrounding Knowth’s major mound, and yet one gets the sense that they are not purely decorative. After all – someone has gone to a lot of time and trouble to do this work, and even today we rarely decorate in stone just for the sake of it. Stonework usually has some kind of symbolic significance at least, even if only to express a wider design concept in keeping with our culture. So, it is with some hesitance that I point out the desing of seven concentric circles in the stone above, and mention that this might have a link to the seven chakras. Then, in the stone below, we see five circles. Five pathways for the incoming energies into the human body, according to C.W.Leadbeater in his book “The Chakras”. Again, perhaps the information is for me only to interpret in this way, but 7 and 5 are cropping up again at a site that is associated with human consciousness transformation processes.

I could go on to talk about many many of the symbols that we saw displayed in the exhibition in the Visitor Centre, all taken from parts of the Knowth site. Kal and I went through them all and had reasonable and rational correspondences with shapes we had dowsed, or energy formations that we had traced, for almost every shape on display. Some did seem purely decorative, but I wouldn’t say that we had a full vocabulary of all possible dowsable patterns yet either. On epattern in partucular, the zig-zag pattern, would reveal itself to us soon enough, as it happened.

An Insight Into the Transformation Process

Clearly the central mound at Knowth – the huge mound constructed of interlaced layers of rock and earth materials – was the major feature of the site. That much was obvious. However, it was not central to our investigations on either this first visit or `the next. Not to say that it wasn’t worthy of investigation, but we had so much more to look at first. There were smaller and more available mounds of different types, there were the remains of different shaped buildings, there were grave-like mounds, pits, grassy enclosures, a timber circle and much more! We can come back to the main mound at the end.

We began by looking at the smaller mounds – the satellite mounds that were seemingly randomly scattered around the main mound’s periphery. In fact they were not randomly sited – they were placed upon particular places where the earth energy was coming out of the ground most strongly. That was what determined their siting. Then their entrances were positioned so as to avoid the ingress of the sun where possible. That was the case for those mounds that were used as sensory-deprivation chambers, and whose energies were suitable for transformation of the human chakras, or whatever the neolithic people would have called these personal energy centres – these joining points with the Other dimensions, these energy centres involved in the raising of human awareness and consciosness, of opening the mind up to other dimensions.

One of the first things we found here was that no ley lines come into or cross Knowth. In fact, that was repeated at all of the Boyne Valley sites too. Why? Good question. We worked it out eventually. It was because the sites around the Knowth mound were used as transformation chambers, an initiation process into the higher spiritual consciousness brought about by sensory deprivation and communingAn interaction with an invisible and natural sentient force that is independently identifiable, even if it cannot be named or classified. The interaction takes place at the level of a subtle amalgamation of the mind of the perceiver such that a dialogue or transference of feelings may occur between the two sentient parties. The interaction that is ‘communing’ is purposefully initiated by the perceiver for the express purpose of learning or simply to transfer feelings in a sympathetic manner. with the spirits of ancestors whose ashes and bones may have been deposited in the mounds specifically for that purpose. The energy of ley lines somehow disturbs the Knowth setup – either because the neutral energy travelling in straight lines disrupts the energy work being done there, or because it would allow the energies to travel in a way that was not desirable, that did not assist the transformation process.

Although we didn’t actually dowse the big mound (I have no idea why – I think it was because we were time-pressured each visit with about 40 minutes to follow whatever train of thought we could) we did find out something about its relationship with the surrounding mounds. The big mound was constructed of interlaced layers of earth and rock materials (very much like Wilhelm Reich’s Orgone Accumulator concept). The mound, we decided, was used by the higher-ranking spiritual leaders, or those shamans who had been through all of the other initiations that the Boyne Valley sites offered. We will come to discuss the purpose of the other sites as we get to them.

We were intrigued by the idea that ley lines had been prevented from coming into the sites. How had this been done? The way the megalith builders guarded against the intrusion of ley lines was firstly to site the buildings in the crook of a fast-flowing river, but additionally they also treated the river with the placement of energised stones in order to form a magical barrier against the ley lineThe term used by many British dowsers to describe an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres. This is often confused with Alfred Watkins’ concept of the Ley Line. Strictly speaking a ley line does not necessarily mean a neutral energy line, only a sight alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. Some people have their energy fields empowered by the direct subtle energy force of The Sun, whilst others are empowered by the indirect subtle energy of The Moon.

Due to the historical associations and symbolisation of The Sun with masculinity and The Moon with femininity we designate these alignments as either being ‘male’ or ‘female’ alignments accordingly. We interchangeable refer to people as being ‘sun-aligned’ or ‘male-aligned’ and similarly with the female alignment. between notable places, whereas an energy ley is like a radial spoke in a wheel, with energy flowing outwards across the land in a straight line. It has sometimes been found that the energy ley can be diverted from its strict straight path by changes in the landscape or strong attractors that pull it away from its original course.

Energy leys may have inter-twining streams of male and female energies weaving along them, as though the energy ley is an attractor, a pathway or a conduit for the male and female energies.. It is easily confused with ley and therefore its use is not recommended by dowsers. energy. We found later that houses close to the sites have very tall aerials to pick up TV reception! All mobile phones are practically useless in the area too (but that’s probably because they can’t site masts in the UNESCO world heritage area).

Each smaller mound has an area outside of it, often close to the entrance, that is a power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. The place is an energetic centre where a particularly beneficial combination and formation of energies is formed into a pattern that is harmonic with the person for whom it can be called a power centre. for naturally-occurring subtle earth energy. The mix of this energy is male + female + neutral = the ideal combination, and hence we dubbed these areas White Power Centres due to the pleasant and empowering nature of that combination.

The Transformation Process

Intrigued by our initial findings we wanted more detail on exactly what these “initiates” had to go through. Did they just sit in the dark until they couldn’t stand it any more? How did it work? The process that the initiate went through was to be placed into the small mound for three days when the moon was full (one day either side the full moon). After three days he would emerge cleansed and stand on the white power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. The place is an energetic centre where a particularly beneficial combination and formation of energies is formed into a pattern that is harmonic with the person for whom it can be called a power centre. and would have his energy field transformed within four minutes. The initiate may have fasted during that period to enhance the experience.

Our final finding related to this process was that the smaller mounds could be used whenever the moon was full, but the main mound was primarily used at the Equinoxes, presumably by some of the more enlightened drudes. Possibly it was for all of them enlightened ones at that specific date – a communal transformation, perhaps?

Finally, can we tie the patterns on the stones to the ritual process? Unfortunately we couldn’t find any specific link. We had discovered that the energy formations depicted on the stones showed energy forms that we were familiar with, and that the initiates who had been taken through the rituals at these sites had used the smaller mounds regularly and may have sought to attain entry into the main mound once they had succeeded.

I was in the South of the country this weekend and happened to spot a place called the Forest of Dean. Being a “woods-man” I decided to head there on Saturday afternoon with a friend in tow.

Forest of Dean

A couple of hours drive later we were wandering amongst these wonderful trees. It is a great pace to visit with lots of paths – both natural and sanded. In many places the trees are really thick and one can wander into them and “almost” get lost within another world.

My friend, I have to say isn’t much of a nature person and was feeling out of place, but I had told him that I might be doing some dowsing and also perhaps a 15 minute meditation and so he was prepared for my “weirdness”.

As we walked through some freshly fallen snow, which made the place that extra magical, I marvelled at the sense of peace that was about the place.

Forest

It wasn’t long before I had my dowsing rods out and was asking whether “this” place was good to do some work? Yes. Excellent!

What kind of work? Both healing and trans-formative got a lukewarm yes. And how was I to do this? With a meditation. So with my friend at my back I was off following the dowsing rods to some “suitable place”. After about twenty minutes, deep into the forest I came to a stop.

My friend had complained that we would become lost as soon as I stepped off the beaten path. My assurances that we had the “rods” was met with a unfavourable response along with a statement to the effect that mobile signals were not working! To which I responded in a positive way I might add.

The rods had stopped in the center of a square formed by four rather nice (fern?) trees. I say a square, though of course if anyone else had looked at them, they may have just seen trees.

forest

So I took of my coat and placed it on the snow and sat down, whilst my friend wandered over to one of the trees and lurched against it smoking a rollie. I lit some incense and composed my thoughts. After a moment I got an image of a young crying child. It was a baby not more than a year old, crying.

Ok, that seemed like a good place to start. I made an intention…”Tell me more about this crying child”…

Spider

I found myself crawling through a dark muddy tunnel, there was no source of light to speak of, but I could see the walls and path before me. After crawling some moments I was confronted by a large spider. The spider must have been human height and a kind of shiny black colour.

spider

Almost instinctively I grabbed hold of its foremost pincers and held it close. I could feel myself shaking and wandered for a minute if my friend would see me holding my hands out in front of me. My hold on the spiders pincers/legs was very tight and I was both frightened and surprised.

The reason for this is because I am a bit of an arachnophobe and don’t do too well with spiders.

I looked into the glistening eyes and face of the spider before me and and a realisation came to me…”You are a guardian” this was followed by another realisation…”You are fear”.

After this realisation dawned on me I pushed the spider to the side and consciously realised that it didn’t vanish but just remained to the side of me as I passed by.

The three fates

I continued on along the tunnel until finally I came to an opening. There in front of me were three persons. For some reason I knew instantly that these were the three fates, Past, Present and Future. I stood before them for a moment. One of them screams at me “You dare? Who do you think you are that you dare?”

I was quite surprised at my own tone of voice and replied with a calm tone “Yes I dare. I am a flame of a candle that knows that it is a simple flame of a candle.”

The fate known as Present grabs a shining thread from the Weave and says, “I could snuff you out.”

Again, in a rather simple voice I reply, “Go on then.”

Three Fates

Nothing happens…then I say “show me”…and with that I take up the Weave and find the “crying child”.

It is my younger sister Noor.

I don’t want to go into her story too much here but just to say that she has been for many years in a place of difficulty and far removed from help from the rest of her family, including me. In the couple of attempts to help her she has backed of at the last moment and so in “our” i.e. her sibling’s mindset she had sealed her own fate. And to be honest, that is how we have described her situation.

As I examined the Weave surrounding and following her thread I can see her life as it is and as it was. Even to the events of our childhood where we used to play together. And now how she was alone from her family. I saw real images and metaphorical symbols too. “the sun never rising, the warmth of the breeze never flowing” I could feel the tears falling down my cheeks as these images from the Weave came to me.

I looked into her future and see that her fate is sealed, she has sealed her fate with her choices, and more…”I” have sealed her fate???

At this moment I look across at the three sisters – with a question in my mind – there is no answer. Gently I change the weave, it is so delicate, I unseal her fate – it is done.

Future, looks at me and asks “How?” – I don’t understand her question. But I find myself saying…

“I will be her sunrise, her warm breeze, the laughter of birds, I will be love…the confidant, the teller of tales, I will be her connection…” and I end with tears again falling, …”I will be her brother”

Future – again asks “How?”

“I am a candle that shines” was the only reply I could give

As I come out of the trance/meditation I wipe away the tears and look across to where my friend is now sitting. Did he see anything of this? I cannot guess and am too embarrassed to ask.

Kal

Post Script

My sister Noor emigrated to Pakistan several years ago and I have only been in contact with her a handful of times and not for many months. Yesterday I called her up and we shared our tales.

The complexities of life often catch me by surprise. The mix is so varied, meaningful and relevant that it is difficult to describe where a particular chapter (of your life) begins. For me it seems quite common that the web of life interweaves multiple phenomena, experience and whatever was left over from last night’s cooking into the mix to create a new day that seems unique and individual and yet if one takes but a single thread and follows it (down the rabbit hole) it leads to truly unexpected and to what I original thought of as unrelated phenomena.

Humbling is a word that begs for deeper meaning when I traverse such tunnels of thought and speculation. I am not going to enter the debate of intelligent design, god, gods or indeed evolution. I am certain of one thing, if you think you know anything (and I mean anything) think again!

Today, being the third day in the trinity (for me) of Samhain, the festival of fire (see Gwas’s post here) traditionally marks the end of harvesting and the beginning of a period quietude and reflection. Alas, as is my wont I am going to have to differ somewhat with the traditional view of this dividing day. This leap of (semi) rationality can be forgiven I hope since we (most of us) do not reside in the world of harvesting (fantastic though it may have seemed a hundred years ago) technology has given us the ability to have any harvested product at any time of the year.

A new interpretation of Samhain may be that it is a period of flux (I love that word). A time that can be utilised by any who have the means, belief, understanding and (the essential ingredient) desire or intent.

For me (please note that ‘for me’ bit) Samhain festival was divided into three components. You may ask, why three? I can only answer that it was a mix of intuition and divine (by this I mean divination using the rods) answers. So it was an event(s) that encompassed three days Saturday 31st, Sunday 1st and Monday 2nd. Furthermore – an indication of each days activities was that it would follow the pattern of:

Preparation

Transformation

Confirmation

The promise (or result) was that should I not mess it up (the divine indication was that it was highly likely that I would – cheers!) Anyway the promise was of invisible blocks to be released and pathways cleared of obstructions.

A strange promise to honest, because at this present time in my life I am feeling that anything and everything is possible. Indeed and therein lies (or rather lay) the rub!

Spirit

Gwas and I had planned to be out together on Sunday and so I was left in the preparation phase to my own devices. Now, very recently my dear mum passed away, and whether it is real or a method of comforting myself (what does it matter which?) I have been in commune with her of and on as the days have waned into weeks and months. Strange it seems to me that such energetic commune seems more effective and solid(?) when at her graveside.

As an aside, you must realise that my belief in life after death wanders from believing to not believing constantly – this paradox doesn’t really bother me – in fact it’s refreshing.

Prior to my visiting my mum’s graveside I had no notions of the above trinity or anything else on the matter of Samhain. However whilst in meditation at the graveside (I’m not really a prayer-for-the-dead kind of person, and frankly on the days that I believe in life-after-death I don’t really think the departed need it). I digress. So there I was meditating with some incense burning away. When I got the message that the following two days could be utilised to great effect should I not dawdle and make a mess of it.

Okay, you may be asking where this message came from – I will be honest, it was my mum. Now, you may think it was just my imagination – and if it helps you any, I will think that too. Again, who cares what and where it came from? Surely its reality is only defined by whether you do anything about it? And since I did, the message was real, even if the originator is unknown or suspect.

The day this occurred was Saturday, A nice, warm and pleasant early afternoon. After receiving it I consulted the oracle of the divine i.e. the rods for further information and was given to understand that a visit to the sea would be of great advantage as the Preparation phase of the Trinity.

Water and Wind

A random point along the coast of Wales had me sat in between some boulders watching and listening to the music of the waves rolling in. A few months ago I had an very humbling experience with, what I am going to call Poseidon, but you may as well call it the sea, ocean or water, I guess.

Poseidon conjures up a nice vision for me and perhaps we create our reality based on our beliefs and thus my containing whatever I was connected with into that image, that is what it became.

On this particular occasion I was very humbled by Poseidon, it is something that is not to be messed with – I guess one might say the traditional view of the sea as being a tempestuous spirit was coming to truth for me. Or…tempestuous is wrong, it was…”beyond approachable”. My attempts at being recognised where in vain.

After a while, the wind slowly rose and I pondered whether there was any significance to the winds change?

How does intuitive knowledge come to you? One particular means for me is just a gentle pondering, answers come when beckoned. To trust or act on these answers is the prerogative of the listener I fancy.

My answer was that it was the element of Air combining with that of Water. I sent out a thought to the Sea “Will you come with me tomorrow and help?” I got back an echo of the question. I had to laugh – I was so far down the scale of things that I wasn’t even something that would (or indeed could) be acknowledged. Still I felt from the combined wind/water a sense of…yes.

Divine (this word is going to get popular) knowledge said that preparations were complete for part one of Trinity. It also added an addendum – that my Solar plexus and Crown chakra energies would be worked on in the coming day.

Wind and Water Companions

Sundays arrival was marked with rain and wind. As I went for milk in the morning I remarked to myself that a sliver of Poseidon was in that air. I arrived at Gwas’s in the early afternoon with a gentle breeze and a few raindrops in tow.

A long drive filled with discussions about Gwas’s adventures in gathering spirit forms had us arrive at Nine Stones Close. As we walked through the fields Gwas’s intuition decided on a different path than normal and we found ourselves climbing up a rocky hill. As id often the case we split up and followed our own energetic paths through this new territory.

I am often surprised at our ability to go-off and do different activities at these sites and then return with individua tales to tell.

My path led to a place where the boulders had fallen in such a way as to create a cave like structure. I sat in it for a while feeling its shape before pointing it out to Gwas. Once we moved away from the cave we walked further around the hill only to have to come back on ourselves a little so as to find a path to the Stone circle.

Often we have foundthat recapitulating upon experiences results in little connections that were at the time missed. For example – upon reflection – it seems to me that the deviation in our path was to find that cave and for me to sit in it, Gwas didn’t. Which becomes meaningful in a moment.

As we approached Nine Stones Close the wind was a surprising gust and my spirits rose. I am really connected to that site because of a beautiful Oak tree that is there. Fortune had a particular smile for us today as the neighbouring field was devoid of its usual cows. Cows are the bane of dowsers! This absence allowed me to climb into the next field and become more acquainted with the Oak tree.

Divine knowledge guided me to the best place to stand and I stood with my back to the tree, my hands were positioned with palms facing the tree and behind me. As I stood there for many moments the wind whipped up into a strong breeze continually changing direction. Even though it was quite cold, I found my hands warming up behind me. It was as if the tree was warm.

Fire

After a while I felt myself filling up with warmth from the tree. But it was more than just inside of me, it seemed that it was my aura filling with orange flame. CommuningAn interaction with an invisible and natural sentient force that is independently identifiable, even if it cannot be named or classified. The interaction takes place at the level of a subtle amalgamation of the mind of the perceiver such that a dialogue or transference of feelings may occur between the two sentient parties. The interaction that is ‘communing’ is purposefully initiated by the perceiver for the express purpose of learning or simply to transfer feelings in a sympathetic manner. with the tree gave me to understand that the winds frenzy was necessary to ensure that my aura would contain the flame otherwise it would be released. It was also at this time that two other realisations dawned on me.

First, was that the Solar plexus chakra is associated with Fire and second, that my understanding of the use of cave structures is to shape the aura. Thus only a few minutes ago I was shaping my aura and now it was being filled with flame. Of course these are all coincidences right?

Upon completion of this filling, I was given a small seedling from the tree, which I transferred to my pocket and minutes later we were done and moving off upon our normal path back to the car (completing ‘the’ circle). Upon the return walk to the car I found a white feather which I also pocketed. White feathers are rare – I’m usually a Crow feather man.

Addition: Just to note that Gwas’s and I checked the trees aura and found it to be a healthy size. And again – why do I do this? I decided to follow the shape of the aura around the tree and found that it had some strange shape and twist to it. Further divination revealed that several head sized rocks had fallen of the wall and were interfering with the aura of the tree. Gwas and I quickly divined that this was not a good state for the tree and returned the rocks to the wall.

A ten minute drive later we arrived at the Nine Ladies circle just as dusk was approaching. Clouds were ominously covering the full moon. Again as we approached the circle we divided off into our own little projects. I went and greeted the Oak whilst Gwas meditated on the circle.

With the wind howling away and Gwas’s news that he had to wait until complete darkness before his work could begin. We spent a leisurely hour or so watching the moon rise.

Earth

When the time came Gwas and I entered the circle and began to do our individual work. I was only moments in when it became clear that the power-center in the circle was Gwas’s area. I was told to embrace the wind. Who am I to argue? So I was up and off, following the wind to its source. I was led to the King-stone and sat down upon it. I’ve never actually sat on it before and found that it has a comfortable little niche in it.

A few minutes of quite reflection and the wind quieted down followed a few seconds later by the clouds clearing and the full-moon’s spotlight felt like it was falling directly on me and the King-stone. As I sat there wondering what would happen next I felt the Orange flame seep out of me into the King-stone and follow the energy tracks down to the stone circle, flow around it once and dissipate into the ground. I felt deflated and was wondering whether the activities of the night were completed when I felt that a blue flame was filling me up, but not from the ground up at before but from the top down. It was coming from the Moon! Blue moon energy?

The blue flame filled me up and again it filled my aura to the brim (my aura was about 2 feet outside of the physical me – or so it seemed).

The right way

I knew then that it was complete and stood up from the stone. As I looked down to the circle I knew I had to come down and walk once around the circle (widdershins as Gwas had divined earlier). So I walked back to the circle and completely forgot to walk around it!! Instead I headed for the Oak tree and a second later – Wham! a branch had hit me straight in the right eye!

Funny isn’t it, as Gwas noted later “I didn’t hear you cry out” – it’s because I didn’t. As soon as my senses returned I stepped back andheaded around the circle! Point – literally taken! The funny thing is that I didn’t have the usual “kicking the tree” reaction that one might expect – instead I thought “Hey how lucky is that – I could have had my eye out!”

Thanking the Genius LociGenius Loci means 'spirit of the place' and refers to the geological/gaian spirit of place. It is transfixed to a place – being an embodiment of the collective intelligence of the place. of the place we both felt that the nights adventures were complete and I wondered whether Monday’s divination would reveal success/failure.

Sunny kinda guy!

It is unquestionable that I am a “sun” aligned guy! Although I love the moon and its creative juices. I just love the sun energies. Which I have to say doesn’t have anything to do with lying on a beach any place – definitely not!

As an aside I have to say that I am a star person too – which kind-of makes sense to me because they after all are suns too!

Upon returning home on Sunday night I was shattered! I came in and went straight to sleep, which is definitely unlike me, I am a midnight at least person.

Monday, I awoke and wow! The sun was shining and the sky was blue and the wind was gone. There was only one element around this day. Sun.

I got up and changed and hit the outside – I just walked and walked taking in all that sun energy. I sat in my garden in the lunch time sun meditating upon the Trinity. What puzzled me was why I was filled with Blue – the colour for the Crown which is what I would have expected – if I had expected anything is Violet.

But divination revealed that I had it right. I was filled with blue flame. Now my intuition took me in this direction:

Blue -> Throat Chakra -> Understanding and Communication

Then in my meditation I got the urge to go and write something on my computer and before I knew it the words were flowing like – well – like they used to before I lost my muse when my mum passed away. I wondered…was that the block that had been removed? The divine answer…one of the smaller ones. Just wait til you re-alise (re-align) one of the bigger ones that is gone! I’m still figuring out what that one is!

And so it is that that the following was also released into the world today!

Wiltshire – August 20th, 2009

There’s something mystical about Wiltshire. This county has more than its fair share of ancient sacred sites and now crop circle formations too. Wiltshire boasts Avebury, Stonehenge, Old Sarum, West Kennet Long Barrow, The Ridgeway ancient track, the list goes on and on. ‘Plan A’ was to find any remaining crop circles to dowse them – ‘Plan B’ was to ‘follow my nose’ and see what happened.

Yes, We Have No Crop Circles

If you intend to visit and stay in Wiltshire you could do far worse than to stay at The Seven Stars pub. It is close to Marlborough and the Ridgeway, and more importantly for cereologists, it is close to Alton Barnes and The Barge Inn – now landmarks of renown on the crop circle tours. The landlord and landlady were incredibly helpful and the food at this pub was outstanding. Highly recommended if you plan to stay in this area. If you want to see any crop circles, however, I’d recommend going in July.

The names of the places are all vaguely familiar if you’ve been reading books and web sites about crop circles for long enough: Alton Barnes, Ogbourne St.George, Banbury Castle, Silbury Hill. These are quaint names that evoke thoughts of ancient Britain, stone monuments, wheat fields, chalk figures and old churches. They are also places of renowned earth energy – possibly not a coincidence to the crop circle phenomenon.

There’s one thing that’s modern about Wiltshire though: the farming methods are bang up to date. On the day I arrived, a new moon, there seemed to be a note in every farmer’s diary – “Thursday 20th: Harvest stupid crop circle fields today.” Sadly, by the time I had travelled down from Cheshire and then had dilly-dallied with a handful of the wealth of sacred sites that are sprinkled liberally around this part of Britain, all of the crop circles that remained only day earlier had been harvested. In fact, the last one was being bailed as I drove out to find it. Ah well, maybe a slight change of plan was required for the next day. Nevertheless I had spent an intriguing day travelling along the white dragonDragons are spirit or energetic beings that reside in sacred sites and have a particular location in them and also move throughout the day (and or season). They also leave the sacred site on occasion, which again differentiates them from Genius Loci which don’t.’s trail. What dragonDragons are spirit or energetic beings that reside in sacred sites and have a particular location in them and also move throughout the day (and or season). They also leave the sacred site on occasion, which again differentiates them from Genius Loci which don’t.’s trail? I’m so glad you asked! ‘Plan B’ was in action.

The Setting

The Ridgeway is a line of chalk stone that forms a ridge running from Overton Hill near Avebury in Wiltshire to Ivinghoe Beacon hill, near Tring in Berkshire. It’s around 87 miles in length and predominantly runs along a chalkstone ridge. It is an ancient trackway, possibly a ceremonial or processional path too. This links in with the recent idea that Stonehenge was once used for large-scale celebrations at specific solstice times of the year. The area may have harboured tribes who worshipped horse gods – the so-called Epona Cult – and consequently there are several white chalk horses carved into the hillsides of the valleys of the North and South Downs. The most famous of these horses – The Uffington White Horse – is something different, however, and I will come to that in the next post where some evidence suggests an alternative perspective.

An Old Straight Track

I parked at the Uffington White Horse car park, and headed for a site that I had longed to visit: the intriguingly named “Wayland’s Smithy“.

The character of Wayland The Smith has a long pedigree. I first came across him in Susan Cooper’s trilogy of books called “The Dark Is Rising” in which she interwove a modern setting with traditional Celtic characters and motifs. John “Wayland” Smith makes an appearance to forge magical symbols from elements to create a crossed circle which was then fitted to a belt of power. The elemental magic item was then used to repel the rising forces of The Dark, symbolised as the forces of Winter.

The essence of the Western Mystery Tradition was embedded in these excellent stories, and the maturation, the transformation and rebirth of a young adult named Will Stanton, a solar hero. His achieving union with the forces of The Light and Summer was the grand finale of this epic struggle. Another elderly character, Merriman Lyon, is a thinly-veiled personification of Merlin meanwhile.

The Ridgeway was evocative of The Old Straight Track of ley lineThe term used by many British dowsers to describe an energy leyA straight line of neutral energy linking two or more sacred sites or other energetic centres.

It is easily confused with ley and therefore its use is not recommended by dowsers. history, or the track spoken of in the rhymes in her books that I used to memorise:

When the Dark comes rising, six shall turn it back;
Three from the circle, three from the track;
Wood, bronze, iron; water, fire, stone;
Five will return, and one go alone.

As I walked the chalk track up to Wayland’s Smithy, such thoughts came back to me like a much-loved song.

For more about Wayland, here’s an article from a Berkshire history web site. For me, Wayland symbolised a place or person who could help you to forge a symbol or sign of value that could be used to advance one’s learning and progress in the ways of the western mystery tradition.

Lucky for me then, that without any forethought that’s exactly what happened. Symbols must have been on my mind.

Lair of the White DragonDragons are spirit or energetic beings that reside in sacred sites and have a particular location in them and also move throughout the day (and or season). They also leave the sacred site on occasion, which again differentiates them from Genius Loci which don’t.: Wayland’s Smithy

The site is almost hidden by trees, and is only noticeable because of a small signpost pointing the way to the copse of beech trees huddled amidst farmed fields. I dowsed straight away for an entrance point to the site. As no-one was around at the time I respectfully waited at the two tall beeches that guarded the entrance way and felt a gentle tug at my sacral chakra point, which indicated assent, so I entered.

I then asked to find “my place” or power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. The place is an energetic centre where a particularly beneficial combination and formation of energies is formed into a pattern that is harmonic with the person for whom it can be called a power centre. where I could take stock of the site from. I was taken to a place on top of the barrow where I de-camped my gear. Next, I wanted to determine what type of energies were present around the site. No matter where I went I read for male, female and neutral energies all around. The whole site seemed to be a complete white streamA flow of positive energised and healing subtle energy. The white streams usually emanate from a source of good energy such as a holy well, a sacred site, a power centre or a place of worship of good intent. We have found that white stream energy consists primarily of male and female energy combined in a balanced and harmonious blend, such that the two streams “play” with each other, warping and wefting in a dance that invigorates and enlivens everything that comes into contact with it. If a human stands in such a stream then they will feel positive, happy and energised, warm even. energy field encircled and enclosed by a ring of old beech trees.

At the back of the barrow, off to one side in a small circular clearing where someone had had a fire I found a strong terminus point for a white streamA flow of positive energised and healing subtle energy. If a human stands in such a stream then they will feel positive, happy and energised, warm even.. At this spot there was a bare patch of earth. I decide this would be the place to ask for a manifestation of the site’s own symbol, as I had done at other sacred sites before. The shape that had been manifested I took as a sigil of the site – it’s symbolic expression of energy – it’s signature, if you like.

I don’t know how the Rosicrucians derived their ideas of how to discover such symbols, but my own sigil was discovered through deep meditation. Finding the sigil for the spirit guardian of Wayland’s Smithy was done by asking and then dowsing the shape. Perhaps it was my polite manner, or good fortune, but one appeared for me at the termination point of the spiralling white streamA flow of positive energised and healing subtle energy. Here is the symbol I dowsed – Wayland’s Sign:

Wayland's Sigil

As I wandered back to my power place I contemplated the mood of this site. It seemed like a great place to prepare yourself, perhaps for a spiritual journey – very calming, peaceful, and reassuring. The dappled light from the tall beech trees made it feel calming and I found myself smiling a great deal while I was there.

I went back to the entrance to the site, between the two tall beech trees in front of the main large stones, where there is a small bare patch of earth. I drew site ‘key’ sigil in the earth with my staff and felt a much stronger pull from the guardian trees. I walked back up to my power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. As I did this my attention was drawn to the cup marks in the stones on either side of the chamber. I wondered if they were anything like the marks in the stone at Nine Stones Close in Derbyshire. I wondered if they would activate the site in some way. I dowsed the marks and found that I got agreement with this idea, but today was not the day to work with this site, I felt. I wasn’t ready to do that yet.

Instead I just meditated in the cooling afternoon breeze, lulled by the sound of the tree’s branches brushing each other gently. As I went into a trance I heard a phrase repeated over and over. “Go for a ride” it said. Go for a ride? On what, I wondered? On the nearby white horse of Uffington perhaps? I sprang up, mobilised. Of course it was. I packed and left to head back to where I had parked – I could pick up the path to the chalk horse from near the car park.

En route I picked up a small crab apple lying in the path heading for the chalk horse – it seemed like an apple might do very well for a horse! I made my way towards Uffington Castle to reach the great carving. Little did I know that a revelation was awaiting me.

This week Kal and I visited a graveyard in the small village of Rhosesmor in North Wales. Kal had been there previously on the recommendation of a friend who had talked of the unusual atmosphere of the place, and how it was surrounded by ancient yew trees. During the visit Kal and I both surveyed the site with dowsing rods, and meditated under the canopy of a triangle of yews.

We dowsed quickly, affirming some of Kal’s previous findings concerning the location of power centres for each other respectively. Soon we decided that meditation was the order of the evening, and so found places close to each other in a triangle of yews to one side of the graveyard. After settling down, quietening and protecting ourselves we each went into our own meditation. Here’s what I found out from this encounter with one of nature’s teachers concerning the subject of rebirth and transformation.

Rebirth

Asked about the process of rebirth: the tree showed me someone having a revelation after a near-death peak experience. I compared this with Hamish Milller’s near-death experience and how that turned him on to dowsing.

Asked if there was a slower way of achieving the same result, and the tree showed me smaller time slices but emphasised that each slice should work on a particular aspect to be changed, eventually achieving the same ends as the revelatory approach.

Asked where this should be done and I flicked through several typical types of megalithic site in my mind, hoping that the tree would show me which type I could use. It responded that each site is unique. Unique, like each type does one thing? No, unique in every respect – the energies it transforms, the memories it holds, the effects it can have. Each site has a unique combination of energy fields, and you need to find the one that fits you at the time that you need it in order to transform and rebirth yourself into a higher state of mind.

Lessons about the life force

Then I was swept up inside the tree’s inner core. Inside I could see the inner life force of the tree snaking upwards, its lively redness coiling and curling up and down inside the tree. Around it was a thin black sheath forming the inner core. It showed me that this life force is always active, even when the exterior is dormant or appears dead. That’s just a shield to the world. Inside the life force flows excitedly. I knew that this life force was fed by the death energies and earth energies around the graveyard.

Transformation

The yew tree told me that when I go through transformation experiences I should retract an inner core of my own life force energy. When the outer shell of my body was cleansed I could then let my life force flow back into the body’s field and I would re-fill the empty vessel I was previously, but still with an inner core that was me up until that point.

I suddenly saw that the inner core that was black in this tree was very thin. Like the tree, I too had such an inner core of blackness. The tree showed me that it had to work on removing those inner darknesses until the majority of its trunk was its natural reddish colour. Only a thin sheath of black remained inside. I saw that this was a state that I would progress towards by working on my own inner weaknesses. Each transformation would be a rebirth process and would thin that inner dark core a little more each time.

This was the lesson of the yew tree concerning rebirth and transformation.

In August of 2008 Kal and I visited several sou-terrains (chambers constructed by the placement of supporting stones and a large capstone, often beneath alternating layers of clay and earth). At each site we visited we asked the dowsing rods whether the purpose of the site was the burial of the dead. Our responses led us to the following conclusions:-

Dead people had been buried at these sites, but in very small numbers

The burials we performed much later in the development of the site, not as part of its initial construction

The primary purpose of such sites was for the transformation of consciousness (to connect with another form of intelligence)

During these investigations we repeatedly got this intuitive response – so much so that we began to get rather annoyed by the labelling of the sites as “burial chambers” because to us this was clearly not the case to us.

David Cowan in a souterrain

During this Winter I have started to dig into my ever-expanding collection of books about earth energies, and thankfully I have re-discovered David Cowan‘s amazing work that he did up in Perthshire decoding the cup-mark ley systems that he spent many years travelling with dowsing rods.

As well as opening my eyes to a previously unexplored connection with The Dead, in terms of the energy that recent or notable burials can engender into such circuits of energy, he has confirmed for me the true purpose of the chamber sites that we have been exploring. Here is what he says about it:

“If the energy from cup-marked stones can, indeed, allow access to the system for the spirits of the dead, then it must also do the same for the living, so building an underground chamber or souterrain with a powerful cup-marked capstone in the roof and below it, in the passage, another upright inside the entrance so that initiates, wizards or shamans could meditate or perhaps retrieve knowledge would be an important part of the ceremonies of the ancients. The Native Americans had a similar procedure, building subterranean kiva (magnetic chambers), where they could achieve lucid dreaming and imagery, helped by hallucinogenic plants.”

“Ancient Energies of the Earth” – Ch.14 ‘Rebuilding the Ancient Magic’ pp.170-171.

It seems that field work does eventually yield concrete results, even if you can’t immediately get the confirmation that your rational side craves.

3rd November 2008

This is part two of a three part account of our time at the Nine Ladies stone circle in Derbyshire. We visited in the late winter evening and in this part we found out the importance of particular stones in the circle.

PART TWO

We continued our dowsing in the moonlit deep and misty darkness of Stanton Moor’s finest neolithic structure – The Nine Ladies stone circle.

Something important would be revealed to me soon – I could feel it. This is how it had worked so far. I was sure there could be a confidence in this notion if I played by the rules and didn’t blow it. So many ways to fail – you have to develop the desire to have a resolute intention, yet passively impartial enough to assess the information you receive with both sides of your brain. Achieving balance is the druidic way I was following. Balance ensures grace. Grace provides a connection between body and spirit, and my mind with these ancient site spirits, whatever their energetic make-up. So I needed balance. Kal pointed to the flat stone that looked like a perfect seat. “The grounding stone?” he suggested.

We had identified this particular flat-topped square stone in the northern side (due north), when we had dowsed the circle earlier, as being a stone that had a mixture of male and female energies. When we sat upon it there was the distinct impression that something was being drawn out of you slowly. If you sit on such stones in circles for more than a few minutes you feel sapped of energy, literally lethargic and your mind is drained of will power – you can’t think of anything worth doing! It’s very strange. You have to try to shake yourself out of it – almost re-invigorating yourself to make neurons fire again and generate some momentum. Kal called these stones “grounding stones”, which contains the implication of in some way discharging the body of electrical energy, of neutralising it.

A test of this phenomenon might be to identify people with different energy levels, and to see what effect the stones have on them. Is the draining effect stronger on those with more energy? Would this mean that we should see the greatest effect with such people, the greatest degree of change in mood and activity? We will check this in due course.

In addition to any grounding effect Kal identified that this stone would also be the stone to re-balance any imbalances in our own energy fields. I have little experience in such things, so I am open to simple experimentation, and I usually try these things out. This time I found that when I sat on it I got the same draining effect which I left until the very last moment when I felt I had enough will power to do what I needed to do next! Which was to head for the main power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another.

(see ‘AlignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. I noticed this at Cerrig Pryfaid recently too. A discharged body feels a much greater surge of energy when standing on a power centreA place where a person of a particular alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another. Feel free to disagree with that outrageous generalisation and irrational assumption as you see fit. I would go test it for myself, if I were you.

I remember walking for over and hour and a half, and finally up a very steep hill to get to Pentre Ifan in Pembrokeshire (see previous post). By the time we arrived at the stunning cromlech I was exhausted on what was a very warm day. I will never forget the feeling that both M and I got from standing with our backs to the central pillar stone. It was a surge of joyful energy so emboldening that I burst out laughing and had a moistness in the corners of my eyes. It was that incredible. Never forget it. I haven’t laughed so much since the last time I saw Bill Hicks. Except this was a rush of pure joy. An ecstatic moment.

Oh, I’m rambling again. Back to the story for a brief spell (there’s one of those puns again). Feeling re-invigorated we wondered at the purpose of these stones. Were they for discharging energies that were blocked, absorbed by people, or built up to harmful levels? How was this stone being powered? What was the nature of the energy exchange in and around this stone?

Kal identified that the stone was the most important stone in the circle, but not the most important at the whole site – that was the King Stone. Again we spent a moment considering the implications of this gnowledge we had been given by the dowsing rods. Even if we were merely expressing some of our own guesses at a subconscious level this was taking us in an interesting and very coherent direction. It was suggesting to us that the King Stone as the engine of the energies. With it being the source of the twin energy streams that formed the double helix which ultimately encircled the whole site the King Stone was vital, in every sense of that word, to the functioning, the correct and continued functioning of the circle’s energies. This was a very important working assumption that felt like confirmation of something we had guessed but never really thought about.

Recently, after this episode, I found a site where energies were again fed into the circle by an outlying stone, and which also split into two streams – a male line going anti-clockwise around to join a large circle stone, and the female line that went in a clockwise direction to also re-join in the same large stone. Clearly, to me, this was showing me that the circle was powered, and its energies contained, by the outlier, or King stone, and that the two streams formed a complete circuit of energy. Does this specific formation occur naturally anywhere else? Has anyone found such a formation anywhere else? I haven’t heard of anything like that elsewhere, or found anything similar at natural features such as Lud’s Church ravine, or in a cave. In places such as that the energies are much more organically distributed and connected, whereas at man-made sites the energies form geometric patterns, shapes and alignments.

So, what was the grounding stone’s part in the circle. Kal identified that it was important to the circle, and it’s functions. We determined to find out a bit more about its function. I suggested we start by determining how the stone was using energy. For every question we asked we told each other what we were going to ask so that we could do the same. Even though we were only feet away I couldn’t see what Kal was doing other than making out that his shape was getting larger as he moved forwards. Well, another validating test, I mused. We looked up at the bright full moon. Hmmm. We asked about the stone:-

Was there moon energy going into this stone? – Yes. Strongly yes. Full across-the-chest crossing of the rods.

Was there sun energy going into this stone? – A tiny bit. A tiny bit? Well, we considered, moonlight is actually reflected sunlight, so…. we suppose that’s technically correct!

Was there star energy going into this stone? – Yes. A small amount. A bit more than the sun energy registered for.

Was there male energy going into the stone? – Yes.

Was there female energy going into the stone? – Yes. Oh – so both – that confirms our earlier dowsing findings.

Was there neutral energy going into the stone? – No.

Were male/female/neutral energies coming out of the stone? All three got a positive response.

What about a combination of the types? Was the sun energy the same as the male energy? Yes. And the moon energy was the same as the female? Yes. Was the star energy the neutral energy? No. So there was some alignmentAlignment relates to the concept that humans have their own energy fields that are oriented or formed in a specific way such that the person is either suited better to one energy source of another.

We interchangeable refer to people as being ‘sun-aligned’ or ‘male-aligned’ and similarly with the female alignment. there, but neutral was not the same as starlight energy.

On to questions about how the stone worked now. Still with us? Good. We asked:-

Was the stone absorbing the moon and other energies? Yes. Tonight it was predominantly the moon, of course. You could almost feel it being stood over it – the top of the stone was perfectly reflecting the moon directly above it. It looked like a lunar and solar panel. not forgetting starlight.

Was the stone literally transforming the moonlight and starlight into energy that fed into the circle? Yes. Strongly yes. Strongly is not the right word. More…encouraging: “Well done, you’ve got it!”. It’s funny, You feel a little pleased during the reaction of the rods that you asked the correct question.

Were the male and female energies coming out of the stone powered by that transformation of energies? Yes. I’m giving you the highlights here.

There were some stupid questions that I’ve omitted for brevity (Ha ! Brevity !) and you’ll know which those are as soon as you dowse them. I try to ignore my stupid questions and hope they’ll go away in their own time.

Our next set of questions related to, well, how we related to the stone. How else can I say it? We didn’t intend it that way, but that was how it turned out. I asked whether the stone was inherently ‘male’ in itself. I got a positive response. Kal did the question and got the same response. I asked if it was also female. It was. Kal dowsed it and got his funny reaction again. He got one rod turning in at 90 degrees, the other didn’t move. Aha! A chance to see if we could work this out. I got Kal to ask exactly what I had asked. Same response. But I got a positive response – clear – typical. Kal’s was atypical, that’s for sure.

I asked a straight out direct question. Was the reaction Kal was getting due to our own differences as people? Yes. Kal confirmed this as he dowsed the same question. We already knew that Kal had more favourable responses, and was intuitively guided to, power centres of pre-dominantly male energy, whereas I had an affinity for the female power centres. Here was Kal being unable to dowse for the inherent female-ness of the stone, but he could for the male. Under the strong moonlight I could do both. Was the moon having that effect, or was there the possibility that the roles may be reversed elsewhere in bright sunlight? We wait for some bright sunlight to test this! It is winter in England.

Sunlight is at a premium!
